5 Stars: Great Spa! (by mkwku)

I had a massage here over the weekend and from walking in to leaving it was a great experience. As you enter the spa you walk through a garden which is a serene setting, and makes you feel relaxed right away. Then you are greeted by a great staff and then the real spa experince begins. I had a deep tissue massage and it was the best massage I have had in awhile. I will come back to Burbank Spa & Garden for sure. I already made an appointment to visit when my mom and sister come in town to visit.

5 Stars: Great Experience (by xxfoshohoxx)

I really enjoyed the Burabnk Spa and Garden. It was very affordable and you experience many amenities that are included with your spa treatments. I just went to get my feet done and was able to use the spa, the showers, have tea, eat fruit, and sit in the garden. It was great and it was well worth it. The people are very friendly and are always making sure you get what you need. I would highly recomend this place for anyone looking to get a spa treatment because it was everything a spa place should be about.

3 Stars: Overpriced for only sauna use. (by MissSnooze)

I checked out the sauna alone since so many great things were said about it and found really nothing spectacular about it. I used the facility but the shower and sauna area look like they need to be renovated, although I learned that the rest of the facility recently had a make over. The locker room is just too small. A few women came in to get ready for their treatments while I was taking a breather and it was instantaneously packed! No hair dryers out for use and only 2 make up stations. There was also a small coackroaach that said hello to me when I opened my locker. I was grossed out thinking of the places that little guy had gone through before making his appearance! Instead of asking for a refund and leaving I blocked it out of my head the rest of the time I was there. I'm not a prude when it comes to small insects but at a spa where my body is exposed and the rates they charge I'm not willing to give much leeway.

5 Stars: Amazing Massage Therapists (by cantstop)

I had one of the best massages of my life. My technicians name was Jouni, strange name. He worked out all the bad knots and help dissipate this horrible headache i had for a few days. I am truly pleased with the excellent service I have received.

5 Stars: Great Service (by becca914)

I have been going here for waxing and facials for two years now, and I am shocked by all the negative reviews. My experiences have ALWAYS been positive. I've been made to feel welcome, I never have to wait, street parking has been easy, and the services have been amazing. Julie has done a great job every time I've visited. In fact, I've moved out of Burbank, and I still come to this spa for their services because I like the way I've been treated.

1 Stars: Great therapist, but overall experience lacking (by dude54)

I was leary of going here given all the negative reviews, but someone gave me a gift certificate so I figured how bad can it be. Well, apparently pretty bad. No one greeted me when I arrived even though many people were running around. When someone finally noticed me, they had almost all my information wrong, which they half apologized for by saying they will have computers soon. They pretty much left me on my own to find the cramped locker room, the short ,but very public trek to a small shower area with a very dark sauna that was not very warm. (I barely broke a sweat!) I had barely enough time to settle in when I was called out for my treatment even though I had 10 minutes to spare. I seemed to be the only person in the place (not a good sign) so I didn't understand the rush.

As we went upstairs I couldn't help but notice that the place has definitely seen better days. No wonder they keep the lights so low. As we passed an attendant with an arm full of dirty laundry she reminded my attendant that their lunch had arrived. Perhaps, that explains why they rushed me. They put me in the room and left me to my own devices.

I was ready to go downstairs and forget the whole thing, but Mark, my therapist walked in and he immediately put me at ease with his nice manners and professional demeanor. He throughly explained the procedure, began with some tuning forks or something that really took me to another place. The stone massage was pure magic. Truly, the best stone massage I've ever had. Highly recommend.

2 Stars: Nothing special (by angie17)

Although the facilities are older and have that cottage feel, it is very unrelaxing to hear the honking and passing cars on the street.
And to think that people actually enjoy getting a massage with a curtain divider is BEYOND ME. I don't wanna hear people yapping while I'm trying to relax.
What really bothers me the most is that they never refill the fruit bowl! Even though it sounds very petty, it's important!
Ask for Eva as a massage therapist or Linda for facials.

1 Stars: LOUSY SERVICE (by bahamamamajams)

I have been to this place many times during the last few years, but I will not go back. Last week I had appointments for a massage and a facial. Twenty minutes past my appointment time for the massage, I finally went to the front desk to find out what was going on since 4 frantic people had come by to ask if I was Amanda, but none had asked for me or seemed to realize I was there for an appointment.

Finally, they realized I was there for a couple of appointments, and had been waiting awhile. The receptionist was surprised that my masseuse wasn't already back there and didn't know where she was. So much for a nice relaxing Sunday morning, and I had to leave without any service. It was really a waste of my time, and very unprofessional.

I know that if I had been 20 minutes late to a massage or facial, I would have been charged for the full appointment , so I'm very disappointed that nothing was really said while I was there ? like offering me some sort of compensation. The receptionist was apologetic, and indicated that she would ask the manager to call me (they never did call), but I had already decided not to go back there at that point, so it had little effect. I had always considered this a decent local place, but it's really not worth the frustration of being stood up for what is supposed to be a nice relaxing treat. I think this place has really gone downhill over the past 2 years, its quite apparent that management is losing sight of the business and caring less and less. They?ve stopped trying.

I'll have to find a new place. How disappointing.

1 Stars: THIS IS SERVICE? I THINK NOT! (by lushusj)

I have been to a few spas in my time and couldn't not believe this one. It was a gift, and it's the thought that counts completely in this case. I was given a gift cert. and couldn't believe the lack of professionalism, utter lack of experience, & cleanliness issues over the course of the few hours there. It started out with a pedicure by a lady who clearly had no experience. She went on about how difficult it is to put make the French tip on straight. She clipped the middle on some of my nails, so they're now all cracked and need to grow out. On to the manicure, same inexperienced job. She had the nerve to say, *I'm not going to file your nails, they look okay*. I had to plead with her to file them. I just kept feeling that my boyfriend completely wasted his money on this gift for me.

Incredibly, after the rushed paraffin wax and then uneven French mani/pedi, I had to wait 30 minutes in a bathrobe in a public area for the massage therapist to come off of her break. Another employee asked, 'What did you have for lunch?" Then mentioned that with the package, lunch was provided...which was news to me! The small pumpkin-painted super dark facial room, better described as a closet, was downright dirty.

Then, to top it all off, on my way out the door, I got attitude because the receptionist had another job to go to with a starting time of 5pm. Well, it was just after 5pm when the massage was finished, so now I'm being rushed out. Her work schedule isn't my problem, that's between her and the owner. Scheduling issues seemed to plague this place. How are these people in business? This was by far the worst day spa service that I have ever experienced. I truly thought at one point I was on a tv show...just waiting for someone to jump out.

The funniest part was, I heard the owner complaining to his receptionist about about Non-tippers...well, yeah!

1 Stars: Bad service, dirty facilities (by bartholemewj)

I went in for a mani-pedi after reading good reviews on this sight. Burbank Spa is the closest day spa to my home, and I hoped it could be my regular place. First, I was escorted to a hovel of a nail station about 4 feet away from the bathroom, which reeked. It was the opposite of private, as people kept coming and going to the restroom, and also getting supplies from the cabinet about 2 feet from my toes. The products were in large, bulk containers. My manicurist used a rice cooker to heat up some lotion for my pedicure! On top of the uncomfortable atmosphere, my manicurist was very unfriendly. She did not want to engage in any conversation, so I just sat there staring at toilet in the bathroom - no new magazines in the room. Finally, my manicure was done in the main salon area right which is so crammed with stations and people you can't move. The owner came in and never once recognized my presence or said hello. Basically, customer service and ambiance are a big zero at Burbank Spa Go to one of the many other nice spas in the area; don't waste your money here!

1 Stars: Sorry Excuse for a Day Spa !!! (by blancababe)

I made an appointment at Burbank Spa for a spa day for my partner and me a week in advance. They confirmed both our times and our message therapists. We arrived at Burbank Spa looking forward to a nice relaxing day after a long commute, and they claimed we didn't have appointments. To top it off, the woman behind the counter was completely indifferent that it was our anniversary. A sorry was not issued and she claimed that perhaps I didn't even make the appointment. She didn't offer to try to make us another appointment and essentially asked us to leave since there was nothing they could do for us. I should have listened to the countless reviews on CitySearch that indicated the service here was highly lacking. Why go to a spa to be treated poorly? My experience with Burbank Spa was downright disappointing and embarrassing.

5 Stars: cool spa (by chillaxin1)

this spa is awesome! I mean there's robes, private lockers, sandels and comditioner! I bring my own but this is the only spa with all that, that i know of. the people there are really nice, and helpful. Unlike other spas that charge for everything, Burbank Spa and Garden also give complimentary Eculyptus oil. And for those who don't know what that is, it clears up your sinus and smells good too. I always get the best massages, and of course your not going to like everyone's tenique, you've got to try them until the shoe fits. I got my nails done the other day as well as a facial for a friends birthday bash, and the service was awesome! they made me tea, and hot packs to keep me warm and comfortable. A very pampering service getting your nails done here, because it's an hour each for the manicure and pedicure. I got a lil decorations on my nails that look really pretty, and the girls working on me we're quite knowledgable on what they do. Like i didn't know that if you don't take care of your rough heels, the skin will seperate and make creavaces and hurt until their filed down, or you get a glycolic on your feet, Which takes away that cracked, dead skin. My FACIAL on the other hand was even better than the mani and pedi! I was a skin treatment and mini massage all rolled into one. The girl I saw analized my skin first and asked some questions about it so she could do her job right i guess, and started, also telling me about how to take care of my skin, and what i should fix in my skin care routine. The facialist also makes comission, so she recommended some products, which i bought 2. The equilizer and a moisturizer. Not too bad prices like 20 bucks for a big bottle of the equilizer. It'll take me months to finish that thing. Over all very clean spa, nice staff members, smart too, best priced, and service in town.

1 Stars: GO SOMEWHERE ELSE, THIS PLACE IS A RIP-OFF (by vsayers)

Don't go here. Whatever you do. You will regret it. I had two services scheduled as a treat for myself ? and boy was I disappointed, and felt ripped off. First of all, my facialist (Yvette) left the room to answer her CELL PHONE (!) for a total of 10 minutes in an hour-long facial. She barely apologized nor did she offer to make up the time! The facial was both awful and painful. She put on one mask, and the rest of it just had steam in my face. The extractions were the most painful I've ever had and left my face marked up. And all of this costs $150. You will have better customer service and a better facial just about anywhere else in the city.

The massage I got the same day was also hysterically bad. I would compare it to the amount of pressure I use to moisturize in the morning. Not to mention the massage room was nothing more than a tiny booth with a flimsy sheet used as a divider ? not a solid door ? a SHEET!! It wasn?t even as tall as the ceiling so not only was there no actual door, there was noise coming in from all sides. I could hear the other clients and everything that was going on in their massages. And it cost so freaking much, I left feeling depressed and broke. Not to mention they try to push products on you as you are leaving, like they haven't milked you for enough money. The facialist was more interested in her personal phone call than me as a client, and the receptionist was plain rude. She didn?t even ask me how I liked my services, and I was there for four hours!! All they care about is making a fast buck off of you. Zero customer service. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else, you won't regret it. In fact, you'll be thankful you read the reviews here first.

1 Stars: very BAD experience, and I was injured during my mani/pedi !!! (by peabodybody)

This was by far the worst manicure and pedicure that I have ever received. I had a female technician, don't know her name, and she was very, very bad. During the scrubbing/exfoliation part of the pedicure, she scrubbed off the skin on the side of my foot and made the skin come off. I didn't realize the full scope of my injury until afterwards when I inspected my foot. There is a whole portion of my skin the size of my pinky nail that is now gone. Though she realized her error and put some stuff on it, she less than apologetic. It's now incredibly sore and I don't even want to think of my risk for disease from it. The massage part lasted 30-60 seconds per leg, which also sucked. I chose dark red nail polish and he had to make corrections with nail polish remover on the edges of most of my nails. During the manicure she also cut me AGAIN. Again, not very apologetic. She said and I quote "sorry I cut too much" She put the junk on that injury too. The manicure massage was a lot better than the foot massage, but it wasn't even close to as good of a massage as I have received elsewhere. I came away with a quite crappy nail and toenail polish job and I got 2 injuries. The nail polish has already flaked off of one of my nails and I have been careful all day. Never shall I return! Do yourself a favor and avoid this place!!!

1 Stars: CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE, WHATSOEVER (by synergy01)

I really don't like writing bad reviews, but I felt I had to in this case. I had high hopes for this spa, and since it is near my house - wanted to like it. Their facilities looked really nice online and Burbank needs a full-service decent day spa. Unfortunately, my experience at Burbank Spa was way more stressful than relaxing. When I first I went I got one just-okay service. Because its close to me and as I said, I REALLY wanted to like it, I thought I'd try again. My visit a few months later was really bad, in almost every way. The staff has really gotten out of control with attitude. I asked for the same therapist again and found out she had already quit. Apparently not that many people are happy working here, according to what the receptionist told me (which was inappropriate in and of itself.)
My massage with the new girl was awful. She was very inexperienced, which in itself is not terrible, but in addition to forgetting to do basic things that the other technician did (like tell me before she was about to put a hot towel on my face or something; there was also a lot of hair pulling) the massage was just really bad and she finished early. I definitely didn't get what I paid for. I left in so much pain that it lasted through the next day. I felt terrible. To top it off, when I checked out I was overcharged. I noticed it and they apologized and voided (they said) the entire charge and charged again the correct amount. The front desk staff assured me that it was voided properly and would process immediately but sure enough, it wasn't and I spent the next week trying to get the now DOUBLE overcharge off my account. I am not that hard to please, but this was really the worst experience I've ever had at a spa. Though the facilities are close to me and I had one Ok massage therapist a while back, there are just way too many problems for a place that charges this much. I hope you can avoid my bad experience. There are much better places to go. Needs new management!

1 Stars: HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! DO NOT GO HERE!! (by heylaydee)

I bought a day spa package for myself for my birthday and as a way to relieve myself from the stress I'm going through with my husband's recent death. I had thought it would be a good way to spend the day and unwind and hopefully relax a bit. The website is misleading - it makes it look like a nice place but it's an old building with peeling paint and holes in the walls. The masseuse seemed friendly - I started to relax a little. Then the pounding started! They were doing renovations next door and during the entire treatment hammers were pounding and drills were reverberating and my head started splitting from the noise. I was tense and upset and left without getting the rest of the day's treatments. They are completely demolishing the building that joins their building and so there are men/construction workers running around yelling in what is supposed to be the relaxing garden... Relaxing huh?? I don't want men looking at me in a robe! And you have to walk OUTSIDE to get from the massage room to the other treatment rooms!! They do not tell you that when you make the appointment. Sorry, but I don't want to be outside in my robe on Magnolia Blvd -- especially not in front of a construction crew.

The management didn't seem to care - the offered to let me come back the next day when the workmen wouldn't be there but it was a bit of a drive for me and I had other things to do the next day. And then they still charged me full price for the massage! They should have told me that a) they had stairs to climb (I have arthritis and have trouble with stairs) and b) about the construction! I left crying and angry and upset - a wonderful way to spend my first birthday without my husband. They were not professional at all! Very bad experience, wouldn't recommend, spend your hard-earned money elsewhere! Will never go back. I should have read these reviews first.

1 Stars: Worst Spa Experience Ever!!! (by marksmith109)

In reading the positive reviews, I question whether or not they were written by the owner or staff because I can't see how anyone would give this spa a high rating. My friend and I had the Hot Stone Massage and a facial at the "special discounted rate" from Spa Addicts. What a rip off! It was a terrible massage (better decribed as a rub down), a cheap mask (not a facial by any means) and a couple of pressure points on my feet does not count as reflexology to me. They basically forced me to pay gratuity on top of the overpriced, mediocre services and now I know why - they wouldn't get gratuity otherwise! I wouldn't suggest this spa to my worst enemy!

They sold us on 'The ultimate spa experience' and what we got was a bed with cheap towels, not even sheets, and very mediocre massage with way too much oil. The therapist kept reminding me that an hour is insufficient for doing any "detail work." She also commented on her star clientele and how she is responsible for many of the "adorable" celebrities you see on the covers of magazines. My hour-long appointment ended after 50 minutes AND included two breaks during which she left the room and/or cleaned up the room while I sat under a hot towel. I don't think I had more than 30 minutes of actual massage or facial. Finally, I was cold because they do not use sheets. Rather, they use a bath towel that only covers you from chest to knee. I've had far, far superior spa experiences elsewhere.

After all was said and done, the surly manager then reminded us that gratuity was not included. This is by far the worst spa experiece we ever had.

1 Stars: VERY BAD SPA - DON'T WASTE YOUR $$ HERE (by carlygrrrl)

I went to the this spa last month with with three other girls for the first appointments of the day. The day started out horribly when the spa wasn't even open when we arrived. We ended up waiting in the street, with other staff and customers, for almost 30 minutes before the manager casually strolled up and opened the door. He, along with the rest of the front staff, was very unapologetic and didn't even offer to hang our coats or offer us something to drink. We sat in the "lounge" and watched the staff frantically clean up messes, light candles, set up the rooms, and complete other tasks that should be done well before customers show up. My hot stone massage was first up and I didn't get a locker, slippers or a robe to change into. I noticed that they have a couple of TINY change rooms (similar to those in the clothing stores) and a limited number of lockers. After our services, we all agreed that they didn't quite meet our expectations and they definitely weren't anything special. The "lounge" is hardly that...it was within feet of the manicure and pedicure stations and the space was tight. At most, it could probably fit six people comfortably. The space wasn't a space that allowed for much relaxation and we almost felt like we were being rushed out in order to accommodate the customers that were filtering in. There are FAR better spas in the area that are similarly priced, where you can really unwind and feel spoiled. The quality of the management and ownership is highly questionable. Afterwards, I was simply promised a telephone call to apologize and offer us some sort of consolation. It's been a couple of weeks and I have given up hope that I will receive anything from them. The most that they would probably offer would be a gift certificate. But I wouldn't have a use for it. I wouldn't go back, nor would I recommend this place to anyone.

1 Stars: Awful Service, Wildly Overpriced. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. (by handymom)

The treatment room felt like a closet. You expect a room where you get a massage to be cozy, this wasn?t. It was stuffy and HOT! The massage therapist asked me to take off my bathrobe without helping me with a towel and when I did ask her for a towel to cover me she started laughing out loud. During my massage, she was talking out loud the whole time while chewing gum! The massage sucked big time. She was hurting me and actually at one point she pulled my hair. On the top of that, while massaging, and without any prior notice, she threw a really HOT towel on my back! I have to mention that the therapist kind of had B.O. When she was done, with no warning she just left the room. Then, to make things worse, the payment took a little bit over half an hour. We kept wondering why it is taking so long with no answers given to us. I had to be somewhere and was late because of that. The manager finally asked us if we liked the treatment and I said I didn?t; she didn't even bother to ask what went wrong. I will NEVER be going there ever again. I had actually thought of giving gift certificates from there but after going, I don?t want to let my friends have such a bad experience. I also have to mention that their prices are ridiculously higher than other spas in the area.

I met with the manager and she went over all of the options and pricing. I put together what I hoped was a perfect day for her. I gave her the present. She scheduled her day. She came back so happy with the way she was treated and how nice hte day was planned out, I just had to write and let you know that you guys are doing a wonderful job.
3 Stars: TERRIBLE SERVICE & CRUMMY MASSAGE!!!! (by brainnacantor)

I tried this place for waxing and facial early last year. That was a bad experience. This year, someone gave me a gift certificate and I was not that interested in going, but I went in thinking maybe the massage would be a better experience. WRONG. First of all, the customer service in this place is horrendous, and that was an indicator of how the rest of my experience went. Grungy, old facilities (once you get past the done-up lobby), zero privacy, loud, and below-average massage. I will never go back and would not recommend this place, ever. Stay away!!

I just came off a bad experience at another spa and was looking for something new. I walked into Burbank Spa and was immediately impressed with their ambience and professionalism. The manager, Sari, treated me like a VIP. She setup my facial and manicure for the next day. When I came back, the staff recognized me and called me by name, wow. I was escorted to a dressing room and my facial and manicure were both on time, no wait, I went from one right o the other with no delay. After I was through I relaxed in the sauna.

I bought a Valentines Day package from Burbank Spa and Garden. I was at first impressed by the beautiful garden you walk through to get to reception. Once inside I was warmly greeted by the staff who helped me to pick a wonderful day for my Wife which included a massage, facial and manicure. The gift certificate is a beautiful paper parchment, not that cold plastic credit card, it is very romatic looking. After my Wife spent her day she couldn't stop extolling on the wonderful treatment she was given, they made her feel like a Queen. I am ecstatic with the staff and management for such a beautiful facility and enjoyable experience for my Wife. I am planning a little spa vacation for myself, don't want to wait til Fathers Day.

1 Stars: Worst Spa experience EVER!!!!!!!! (by Citysearch User)

I'm fairly Spa savvy and I must warn people from this farce of a spa. The place is so smelly and funky (not the good kind). The therapist had nasal drip and was sniffing during the entire weak, pathetic, poor excuse for a massage. I was more stressed once the massage over as I was sure her nose was actually going to drip on me during my session. The management was unhelpful and evasive when I complained about my experience. The owner was a raging A**hole and essentially told me, Tough Sh*t!!.
With SO many nice Spas in the Los Angeles area I say give the others your business, not this lame place!

When I first arrived at Burbank Spa, I was pleasantly surprised at the great aroma in the garden. Although the front desk staff were a little on the unhelpful side, the spa seemed great.

From there, everything went downhill. The dressing rooms were very small and had no doors for privacy. My Swedish massage was mediocre at best and the masseuse was not very talkative. I was actually surprised when the massage was over because she left the room and never came back!!!

We ended up spending almost $600 there and I really felt like I had better experiences at other spas. The management was careless to detail and unhelpful. We felt that the service on one item was not that great and wanted some kind of reimbursement made. They never cared to call us back, despite the fact that they said they would.

My friend and I went in for massage sessions. We were greeted by a very rude receptionist, who showed us to a tiny dressing area that we had to share with about six other women. There was only one bathroom and it was small and dingy.
Then, during my massage session it was very noisy and someone accidentally walked in. No privacy! the booths are miniscule and separated only by a thin curtain.
Also, there was no parking. We will not recommend and were very disappointed.

4 Stars: Stress gone - Relaxation in! (by Patti M.)

I enjoy this spa very much, but it needs to get up to speed. Its very small, & if you opt to get a body salt scrub, you need to go upstairs which might be a bit unconvenient if you are going to transition to the sauna or massage room.
The showers are not located in a private price and you might get caught with just a towel or not with others in the room. They offer other services, ie facials, manicures, & pedicures but its difficult getting all of the above services at once along with a spa service.
I have always gotten a 90 minute massage and its been top-notch for the price, but would enjoy a more modern setting. Service is friendly and its pretty easy to get an appointment.

PROS: Local, friendly, massages are great
CONS: Parking, other ammentities hard to get same day
