I liked Mandarin Oriental Hotel and it was one of the hotels on my list of consideration for the wedding. However, when first visited it, the ballroom looked a little getto - it was oldish and not well maintained. The hotel itself did look great (this was in 1999) - very lavish, very shick. Also, there is a huge parking stracture (paid) not too far away - very convinient for the guests.
158 lavish rooms and suites feature unobstructed views of the city and portions of San Francisco Bay. The rooms are decked out in hues that range from sage and crimson to gold and cream, and decor include artworks and silk-covered headboards. You'll pay steep prices to be surrounded by furnishings worthy of a Park Avenue penthouse, but for quality, these accommodations are hard to beat. Business services and the excellent Silks restaurant are located off the lobby, while Mandarin Lounge offers a small plates menu and afternoon Asian tea.
PROS: afternoon tea
CONS: noisy
