Gorgeous conference grounds! Direct beach access, beautiful hiking trails. The conference center lodging is set-up in an old-fashioned, cabin/lodge style way. There are no phones, TVs or internet in the room, so not a very functional place for work conferences. For relaxing and rejuvenating retreats, perfect!

Asilomar was designed by famed California architect Julia Morgan in the 1920s. Its main lodge, meeting rooms, and accomodations are masterpieces of arts & crafts architecture, but you don't need to be a guest to enjoy the grounds, eat lunch in the fixed-price dining hall, take in the spectacular view of Asilomar beach, or shop for momentos in the nature-oriented gift store. Parking for day visitors can be a problem, though, so leave your car on Sunset Drive and enter the grounds on the wooden walkway through the sand dunes.

PROS: Great scenery, wonderful for hiking and relaxing. Kid friendly.
CONS: Because of occasional cougar sightings, plan to hike with a small group.

When my mother suggested to have our wedding at a conference center, I was shocked. But when we visited, we realized that this wasn't your average concrete conference center!

The grounds are so peaceful and beautiful. My fiance and I couldn't think of anything more perfect. The sound of the surf surrounded by the natural beauty of the woods created the perfect backdrop for us.

Our wedding was absolutely amazing! The event staff were so friendly and knowledgeable and the chef went above and beyond his job description by providing my parents with their favorite dishes that weren't even on the menu!

We look forward to returning to Asilomar to enjoy the wonderful new memories it has for us!
