Beverly Hills Playhouse

When I first arrived in LA (several years ago) my first West Coast classes were at The Beverly Hills Playhouse-Milton Katselas . My instructor Gloria G. brought out an increased intensity and deeper level of emotion for the work. She took any "nervous" energy I had and allowed me to use it, channel it into the work. To uncover higher states of awareness and ability. The positive energy helps one reach any goal. I kept that sense of possibility with me, in ups and downs. I am now in New York, but when I go to LA, I plan to stop in. BHP and the lessons helped bring clarity in my approach to the work. I miss it!

The Beverly Hills Playhouse teaches solid, fundamental acting lessons and I learned some great lessons there and watched their approach advance alot of students. It's a good acting education and they take an action-oriented approach, it's not just about acting in class, it's about getting work. My only complaint is that because it's more than just an acting class, it tends to be a little bit of a "life" class as well, which for me, got kind of old after awhile. But at the same time, those life lessons helped alot of people and I believe they offer them truly to help people not control them. (I've certainly seen a lot of actors be held back not by their talent but their attitude and the BHP makes this part of their instruction.) But if you're a little older, know who you are and are established, the BHP pontificating on how to live your life can get a little tiresome.

If you're new to LA, this is a great place to take your first LA acting class, it gives you an instant network; the other students are friendly and they will help you figure out how to navigate the industry, and it gives you motivation and skills to try to actually get work, not just practice it.

This is an adult class, they do not offer children's classes.
