Great coffee, interesting people, extremely nice waiters. Banquette is a great spot downtown. Blood orange juice was yum. The best thing is the french toast!

I still think it's hip even though the crowds are gone. Great corn beef hash and omelets for breakfast. They also have some pretty good blends of coffee.

I recently started working downtown and I've come to Banquette a couple of times and loved my food each time. All the toasty sandwiches I've tried, I've really enjoyed! I really like the Coppa (artichoke hearts, salami, arugula, pesto). The staff was pretty friendly and the service was decent. I haven't tried happy hour yet, but I'm looking forward to checking it out.

I agree with both ratings. On one hand they are quite great...but the "negative" remarks has a lot of honesty in it. The good news is today they shut down to really do a "spring" cleaning of sorts. I frequent the establishment because I feel I am having my meal in an old European cafe. Not to mention I am extraordinarily addicted to their French Toast made of croissant...you can enjoy it as a dessert as well.
From what I gather they are really popular, especially during the monthly art walk, hence the malfunctioning equipment and lack of ingredients. However, their is never an excuse for poor service. A business owner should be honored that a customer CHOOSES to spend their dollars at their establishment. I often notice the owners attitude is almost always less than pleasant, agitated, causing an uneasiness in the atmosphere, among her staff, which ultimately flows over to the customers. She really wears it! I don't take it personally especially if she was not disrespectful to me. Hopefully they read the reviews and make the adjustments. I will still go there...as a matter of fact i am preparing myself for the french toast as my 9pm dessert. I really am championing the efforts of the small businesses in the area..lets just hope they realize and appreciate it!

Banquette looks charming, and the space is, but keep walking to other wine bars / cafes downtown. By 1pm , they were already out of soups, their oven was out of order so the menu was severely limited, I was surprised to see filth under their pastry cabinet, and there was a food and grease covered trash can sitting on the dining room floor. Service??? The person who took our order walked across the street and never returned. The one waitress left never checked on us, asked about our food, or offered more wine. She was much more concerned seating her own friends and socializing. We waited 30minutes for her to bring a check and finally we had to approach the bar and ask to pay for our brunch. I would not recommend this this cafe and if I knew how to contact the owner, I would convey my concerns that his charming establishment is going down the drain.

Pros: charming interior

Cons: horrible service, deli-style food

We keep finding ourselves coming here again and again on a Friday night- what a great place to relax, drink, and graze! A surprising assortment of wines by the glass, great nibbles, and very friendly service. This is a wine bar in the classic sense, with a great open-air vibe.

Great soups and sandwiches- "The Bomb" is an evil mix of prosciutto, goat cheese, and fig jam on crusty foccacia that we usually inhale as soon as it lands on the table. Happy hour bruschettes are loaded with awesome combos (we like the eggplant, carmelized onion and gorgonzola mix), and the cheese and prosciutto plates are regular accompaniments to a few glasses of wine. A great place to bring a couple of friends and spend a few hours.

I guess we'll have to try the breakfast and espressos here next...

Great food & wine selection, comfortable and friendly service!
Bruschette with "Eggplant, caramelized onion, and dolce gorgonzola" is fantastic!
I got wine recommendations from the barkeep - he is friendly and helpful!-
I tried Pinot Noir, Cab, Bourdeaux, Zin, everything is great and reasonable.
It's not fancy but simple is good and the best place to relax in downtown!
I will definitely come back!
Parking is difficult, only on the street, after 6:00PM is easy, can be found on 4th or Main. St

Great food, beautiful little French bistro-style cafe and wine bar. Nice neighborhood-feel. Fresh selection of sandwiches, pastries, and awesome apple toast. They seem to need more help in the kitchen though. The food comes out very slow. Service is laid-back and even a little testy - the lady make us feel we were troubling her and she served us a little attitude. This place would be much nicer if service was more friendly and accomodating.

We were having lunch over at Pete's (which is next door) and I smelled the pastries... divine. The baked goods are fresh and homemade daily. The wine selection is varied and the music was relaxing. They were in the mist of changing their menus and when they are through with I will be back because I took a look at it and it seemed quite delicious. Cost were in line with the area and the neighborhood is still "shady" but all in all it's worth the trip. They also expanded their hours of operation until I believe 1:00am

Bon Appetit!

Cons: , parking isn't easy

Banquette is one of the coolest, most unique restaurants around. Hidden in the old bank district of downtown LA, it is hidden slice of a Parisian bistro. I was able to share a pitcher of wine with friends over great music and talk the night away. Can't wait to go back!

What a find! I was very pleased with the healthy organic options. It was a little pricey but the food was delicious and creative. The decor is funky and fun. Parking wasn't bad either - one time we parked on a meter and the attached lot is cheap.

This downtown cafe has become a staple for loft-dwellers looking for a quick meal or decent cup of coffee. Owned by the same team behind the popular Nickel Diner, Banquette offers similar homespun service, without the crowds (or 20 minute…
