We have been to Hiller Museum couple of times in last 3 months. Kids love exploring different planes and models. Biggest attraction is Flight lessons by Young Eagles on 3rd Saturday each month. They just love it.

The Hiller Aviation Museum it a great, local place to spend the day with your kids. They have a huge hanger loaded with planes from yesteryear. They even have a blue angels cockpit you can climb into and pretend you're a top gun in. Many events throughout the year. Good times. I would highly recommend.

This museum was very interesting, especially with a docent tour for adults. The kids got bored listening and they really liked the plane that the kids can play in. We also liked watdhing the airplanes take off.

This is a very original local museum. You can go inside a plane, see some aviation history, and they even have a coloring/play area for the littler kids. The only drawback is it can be boring if you go more than once (as an adult). The time I went there were two moms who brought a picnic lunch and basically camped out at the kids area which was nice for them but annoying to me.

PROS: good indoor activity, original museum
CONS: the "regulars"

Hiller Air museum documents the history of commercial aircraft. There is also a unique assortment of helicopters which you won't see anywhere else. The musem covers 1.25 floors. It usually take about 1.5-2hours to go through with the little ones. There are some simulators for them to sit in and try their skills at flying. There's an area in the lobby for the smallest ones to play with various ride-on planes as well. The highlight is a 747 section you can go into and pretend to pilot. Overall my sons always want to go back.

We have a individual membership to this museum and it's a great place on rainy/hot days to take the kids! It's $8 for adults and free for kids under 8, i think without a membership. There is a gift shop where you can get everything from $2.50 gliders to books/videos to aviator jackets. The kids will enjoy the 747 section in the back where they can pretend to fly the plane or pretend to be a flight attendant with the galley. You can also sit on the second floor watch the planes take off and land at the San Carlos Airport, while listening to your choice of the San Carlos or SFO control towers.

The Hiller Aviation Museum in San Carlos is one of the
best museums around. It's located at the San Carlos
airport. It has life sized models of airplanes and other
flight vehicles from the 1800's! You will be amazed at
what you see......a lot of aviation history began in the
Bay Area before the Wright Brothers!!. There are informative
signs and videos displayed with the planes and flight
vehicles. Helpful docents are there to answer questions.
I am not a airpane nut but I love this museum....you 'll
learn a lot. Go to their web site www.hiller.org
and then go this museum! Great gift shop with lots of books, toys, plane models, etc.
