A message from Pets Delight
We have been in operation now for 30 years. We specialize in the placement of purebred and small mixed breed puppies. Our puppies do not come from puppy mills; they come from professional local and private breeders. A crew of people see to their needs, and they are fed twice a day on a schedule. I have always loved animals and I would never neglect, mistreat, or not provide whatever care is required for there well being. We rotate the puppies throughout the day so they are not confined to a single location or get bored due to lack of human interaction. The operation of a retail business with the addition of live animals is not and never will be like selling a vacuum cleaner. The rules and regulations we must abide by, together with the care of live animals takes staffing, money, and knowledge in order to provide you with a happy and healthy puppy that will enrich and reward you for many years. This does not come without its problems, and my staff and I work endlessly seeing to the proper care for each and every pet you find in this store - 365 days a year.

Groomer
Hey Christina - Are you possibly Lilly H from Sierra Madre because your story is the exact same one as the Monrovia Pet's Delight?
Bogus posts to boost Pet's Delight amazes me. Get real - Pet's Delight is a joke and continues to rip people off.
I'm guessing you are the Groomer and you are trying to boost your credibility since the store is dishonest and thieves!

Groomer
I love the groomer at Pet's Delight. Her name is Susan, and she is there on the weekends. She doesn't SHAVE dogs like Petsmart, and my dog adores her. Whether or not you like the store, the groomer is incredible! She actually knows how to groom my schnauzer without making him look like an old man. He looks like a show dog!

STill happy with them.
I got my puppy Sam-I-Am from Pets Delight in So. Pas. ten years ago, as well as my cat Cali nine years ago(alas, she has passed on-- accident). I think that this is a very excellent pet store. I appreciate the hard work they do, as well as their monthly hosting of the shot clinic and the addition of their Doggy Daycare. If I had a house instead of an apartment, I would definitely get another dog from this pet store.

Thousands of puppies are purchased for Pet Stores...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HM8UmHM8Uo
Pet's Delight sells sick puppies. They rip off customers - suck every dime out of your pocket and then turn their backs when something goes wrong.
Numerous complaints have been made against the Pet's Delight in Covina, Glendora, Monrovia and South Pasadena. These four stores seem to have some kind of connection with the owners and such.
Please spread the word. DO NOT support these Pet Stores. Don't go thru what many of us have already gone thru - it's heart wrenching.

Important Information - Please read
Please read this: http://stoppuppymills.org/pet_store_doublespeak.html
Pet's Delight claims they do not purchase from puppy mills. They want you to believe they come from reputable breeders (brokers). They don't.
Google the Humane Society and read up on the doubletalk the owners portray. It's amazing how Pets Delight is even in business today.

Gail went beyond the call of duty to help me solve a problem
Already having 2 dogs, you can imagine my shock a couple of months ago after a long day at work, when I came home and found out that I now owned 4 dogs! My wife and 6 year old daughter fell in love with 2 Maltipoos and bought them on the spot at So. Pasadena's Pets Delight, and had them groomed from fluffy to short hair. When I called and spoke to Gail, she was extremely helpful in resolving the issue with the dogs, as well as a potential marital problem. I'm actually a marriage counselor myself, but Gail was appreciative of the impact caused by my not being consulted by my wife about bringing 2 new beings, cute and adorable though they were, into our lives. She always returned my calls over the next few days, and at the cost of losing sales for her store, referred customers from her store who had seen these 2 females and had an interest in them to us so that we could find buyers for them. The 1st woman who called almost immediately, wanted to come over ASAP, which she did, and she bought 1 of the pups. Even though others were interested in the 2nd one, I fell hopelessly in love with the remaining pup and changed my mind about keeping her. She is healthy, spirited, and has integrated well with our 2 original 1 year old Toy Poodles. I didn't try to play any games, was open and honest about all of facts that had happened, and she was understanding, kind, and went out of her way to work with us, and for that I am grateful.

The majority of customers DO NOT like this store
Cheryl, I'm just tickled pink that you had a wonderful experience with Pet's Delight animals and their staff.
Unfortunately, the majority has not had a rewarding experience with purchasing animals or dealing with the owners/staff.
I only hope you never have to go thru what others have in purchasing ill puppies or having to deal with incompetent owners and their employees. I hope you never have to go to court in order to get justice. I hope you never have to spend your hard earned cash to purchase a little puppy only to watch it suffer from some unknown disease or illness and then look to Pet's Delight for assistance and discover that they could care less what happens to the puppy.
The Reviews here are to assist others in making a choice in whether they should purchase an animal here or look elsewhere. I would never ever want another person to go thru what my family has (and our puppy too).
If Pet's Delight would of just owned up to their mistake and done the right thing then there is no need to alert customers of a shady business, right?
I know, for a fact, that Pet's Delight does not purchase their puppies from reputable breeders. They might have a breeder but the breeder is another name for a glorified puppy mill breeder. A reputable breeder would not work with a pet store. They want you to believe they don't purchase from a puppy mill because if they did you probably would not purchase their puppies. Pet's Delight is not going to advertising "Puppy Mill dogs for Sale". These puppies do not come with papers either. When you ask the origin of the puppy you will never get an answer (just the run around).
I think Pet's Delight owes people an apology for misrepresentation. I think people need to wake up and stop supporting these Pet Shops. I think the cities in which these shops are at need to take a good look at what is going on.
I'm glad you had a wonderful experience - too bad everyone else hasn't.

7 dogs, 2 birds and counting
I went with a friend today to pick out a new puppy at Pet's Delight. I had seen the puppy a couple of days ago and knew my friend was looking for this color, breed and gender. I felt confident in recommending this puppy to my friend because between me and my family and friends, we have purchased 6 other dogs from Pet's Delight before this. I purchased a puppy last year. Additionally, my sister, sister-in-law, another friend, and my mother-in-law have all purchased puppies over the last 6 years. All of them have been purebred and with papers. None of them have ever been ill from anything connected to the shop or as a result of genetics or breeding. All the dogs are currently healthy, beautiful, wonderful companions to their owners.
I have also purchased two parakeets from Pet's Delight. They are healthy, active birds and show no signs of slowing down.
It's terrible to read in this site about the bad experiences others have had. But I felt that I should provide a different point of view and write about my own very satisfactory experiences.

Employees and Owner at Pet's Delight
The day we purchased our puppy was also a happy one - until we had a problem.
The employees, that evening, were extremely friendly. The only beef, we had at that time, was in order to purchase the puppy we had to purchase wet and dry food and a tube of puppy vitamins. This, of course, was that the staff wanted to make sure we took extra care on brining home a new puppy. I thought this was odd but we had absolutely no choice in the matter because the staff would not let us purchase the puppy until we purchased the food and vitamins at an extra cost.
The following morning, the puppy was really sick. Even the previous night we thought something might be wrong but attributed it to the puppy being in a new environment. Once we saw the puppy gagging and greenish mucous draining from her nose, at that time we new she was sick.
From there on, this is when we lost totally faith in Pet's Delight. They could care less what happened to the puppy. We made several attempts to keep them informed about the declining health of the dog and the continuous back and forth running to the their contracted vet with no resolution.
After numerous phone calls, being hung up on, yelled at, ignored, it was at that time their contracted Vet told us to either put the dog down or take the dog to our vet. Putting the dog down was not an option - we bounded with her - she was part of our family.
Now that she is better and such a joy to have, and trying to recovered the out of pocket expenses we incurred, its back to being hung up on, ignored, yelled at, and turned away when we walk thru their front door.
From the staff and owner being extremely helpful the day we forked over the money for the puppy and to this date, is a completely different situation. They made their money - they don't give a damn about anything else. It's not about the puppy's welfare now - it's hoping that we disappear off the face of this earth. We won't. It's the beginning of a long battle that we will prevail. If we can turn just one sole away from purchasing a puppy at Pet's Delight, then we've done our job. Hopefully many more will never have to be in the situation that many of us face today with dealing with Pet's Delight - Covina, Glendora, South Pasadena and Monrovia stores. Shut them all down for all I care.

An extraordinary experience
My first experience with Pet's Delight was taking some students inside for a mini field trip as we were studying animals at my school and they had just recently moved to their new location. They were polite and helpful, talking to the children about the care of animals. I also purchased a couple of mice for my life science center. Bonnie was very helpful and gave me some tips on raising some tadpoles we had in the classroom. I found myself traveling back to the store and each time I had an great experience. It seemd a natural place to go when I was thinking about adopting a puppy. After several visits I fell in love with a cairn terrier (which I have papers for). She had just come into the store so I was not allowed to take her home for serveral days, until she was at the store for a few more days. They allowed me to come and visit my puppy during that whole week, so that I would have bonding time with her. Ivan and Bonnie have been fantastic, assisting me with puppy training and grooming tips. I have also made additional purchases of animals for my life science lab. They have been healthy. When Fiona (my puppy) and I visit, all the staff have made a point to remember us by name. They even assisted me by special ordering an item not regularly available through their vendors. They have made the difference as to why I now go to them exclusively for my pet needs. I appreciate their customer service and helpfulness always.

Maybe you should think twice about "Your Breeders"
If Pet's Delight purchases their puppies from a Breeder (which I find to be untrue) then maybe you should find another Breeder who is more responsible in submitting proper purebred papers. Since your puppies seem to come to you ill, perhaps your Breeder should take responsibility UNLESS you have an agreement that is an "as is" purchase.
Normally, Breeders do not sell to pet stores. According to the vets that are contracted thru Pet's Delight, they seem to tell me that Pet's Delight does not purchase their puppies from Breeders, but from Puppy Mills.
If your "Breeder" cannot supply proper documents, then do not claim that they are purebreds to customers or explain to customers that you CANNOT guarantee proper documents on the puppies in which you claim "purebreds". Also, if you cannot supply the paper work for these puppies (their origin on which they came from), then don't sell them for such high prices. In recent months, the prices on the puppies have come down to $199.00 - earlier in the year there were some puppies listed into the thousands. Perhaps you've come to realize that you cannot fulfil your end of the bargain on these so called purebreds and have actually lost money as I've noticed in recent posts.
Why don't you all just admit it, your "breeders" are nothing but "a glorified word for your own puppy mill in California". Your Breeder breeds over 20 different dogs, over and over and over again. If you need proof, one of your employees that worked for you over 4-1/2 years ratted you out.

Cry me a river
I have purchased 5 dogs in my lifetime that were purebreds (from a breeder) and each time I received their paperwork and their parents' information. Not once have I been misinformed, misguided, felt ripped off, or mis treated with any of these breeders as I have been with Pet's Delight stores in Covina and Glendora. Shannon Anderson is rude and the worst excuse as a business woman. She has NO clue how to run a business, let alone sell animals. Her staff is rude and too darn interested in the boys who stop by daily to have their daily smoke outside.
The fact that our puppy was ill was a horrible situation. Her vets COULD NOT cure the puppy's illness. Her OWN VET, Dr. E. told me that Ms. Anderson purchases her puppies from puppy mills and that is HOW he gets all his business. His words, "If Ms. Anderson didn't have sickly animals, I would be out of a job".
She lost in court, but refuses to pay us. We will take her back to court. I will stop at nothing to get my money back. So "Anonymous" - you have no clue where all of us are coming from because chances are you are "Gail Spriggs, Shannon Anderson or Monique Matthews.
Trust me, I have spread the word about Pet's Delight to the media, craig's list, tv stations, City Mayors, Police Departments, Humane Society, you name it. If you cannot own up to your mistake then that is your own problem.
Don't tell me I can't post on here when this site asks for my review on Pet's Delight. I'll post anywhere I choose. Stop ripping people off, in fact, stop purchasing your animals from horrible mills. You have my word - I WILL NEVER SHOP AT PET'S DELIGHT EVER AGAIN.

I'm so amazed at how really un-educated the mentality seems here...
Let me attempt to explain something to everyone. Lets say a store owner purchases a puppy from a broker to have in a store and available for purchasethe registration papers need to be signed off from the breeder to the broker, and then once again to the store owner when the puppy is received at the pet store. Each time requires a new set of papers from the registry. When that puppy leaves the breeder it is not known which store it will go to, so the paperwork cannot be done in advance (even if that was something that could be done). This is why a 120-day grace period is granted to anyone selling a puppy when they are not the breeder.
If a puppy is not registered it must say UNREG, and paperwork that the store must provide you will indicate either a registry (ie; AKC, ACA, APRI, UABR, etc.) or UNREG as described above. So, please look at the papers that arrive with the dog to determine whether it is purebred or not. The store owner cannot produce this paperwork, and I hardly think it would be in anyones best interest to deceive their customers by making claims about the lineage of a dog and put their business in jeopardy to make a couple hundred bucks.
I have read nothing but insulting and discrediting statements that should not even be here if you all were more educated about your purchases. Think about it? Buying a purebred dog, even from a breeder, is a crap shoot. All purebred dogs have a list of known genetic problems. This means that some percentage will reveal a genetic problem in their lifetime. The store owner cannot determine this, and if they could do you think theyd choose that puppy to pass on to their customers? They wouldnt, because doing so would cause them hardship, time, and money!
How fair is it to have a mob mentality toward a person (and their business) when the cards dont fall in your favor? Not fair at all. I hope it is you who can sleep at night when you realize that you chose that puppy, were probably compensated by the owner of the store (they must abide by the California Pet Protection Act), and still chose to leave the nasty and hateful messages I saw here today.
I bought my dogs from two different Pets Delight stores, have always been treated well, and am often surprised at how much valuable information this group of people have to share. I must say I find nearly all these negative comments personal, without credibility, and bordering on slander which is why I found it so necessary to say anything at all.

If you sell purebreds - then where are the Papers Gayle????
How dare you write that your puppies do not come from puppy mills? How dare you sell customers high price puppy purebreds only to find out THEY AREN'T PUREBREDS. It is false advertising and misleading to customers. How dare you try and take advantage of customers all for a buck. You sell sick animals, you sell puppies that you claim are purebreds but yet you cannot come up with legit papers for them. Why? you ask? BECAUSE puppy mills DO NOT sell purebreds and you cannot PRODUCE legit paperwork on puppy mill dogs. How in the hell do you sleep at night? Pet's Delights owners and staff are nothing but THIEVES.

Marketing dogs as purebred no reg. papers get 75% of your purchase back
*If anyone purchased a puppy and was told that it was a purebred and did not get their registration paperwork within 120 days by CA law they have to refund 75% of your purchase. Even though you will get the run around from the store they have to return your money. If you still get no response spend $50 and take them to small claims court and get your money back this is the law which they are continually breaking! Most of the times judges will make the company pay for your legal cost for taking them to small claims court so you will get 75% of your purchase as well as your court cost. This information is in your contract when you purchase your dog which is signed by you & the owner. In my situation just threatening to sue eventually got my refund. Just keep calling stay persistent! Below is my experience with pet's delight in glendora & unfortunately from reading reviews and researching the store I am not the first person this happened to it's against the law so please fight and get your refund.
I purchased a Yorkie puppy from this store over four months ago this puppy was supposed to be purebred with papers from the apr. When I purchased this puppy I was instructed to take her to their contracted vet at south glendora animal hospital the vet was extremely rude and his whole examine consisted of taking her temperature (which he jammed the thermometer in her so hard she cried) and then turning her upside down and patting her tummy saying she's healthy the examine lasted two minutes with no explanation on when her series of shots should start. I was supposed to receive the registration papers for my puppy within 120 days. After around 90 days I returned to the pet store for more puppy food and inquired on the registration papers I was told by Nick who was extremely rude to just wait 120 days. Well 110 days later I get kind of worried no contact at all from the store so I begin calling I spoke with Nick who said again to wait and that I would have the documentation in 120 days. 118 days later I call again, and once again get the run around. So 120 days later there is still no registration paperwork for my supposed purebred dog which I paid two grand for. I call talk to Nick, Christina, Elizabeth, Jennifer as well as the owner Shannon and get the complete run around. Saying they will call back, they can't find the paperwork etc I made 40 plus calls to the store with no success. Then I begin researching the store they have a dd rating with the better business bureau, tons of complaints online, as well as people claiming their dogs are from puppy mills and died shortly after purchase. I read my paperwork and by California law if they represent a dog as a purebred they must have the registration paperwork in 120 days or you are entitled to 75% of purchase or can return the dog for 100% refund. When I called again I spoke to the owner (shannon) and explained this to her she said let me check and hung up, and did not call back. So for someone who is an owner of a pet store should be familiar with the California law governing the sale of dogs especially since this is included in the contract. She ignored my calls for days until I told her employee if she doesn't call me back I'm going to sue her and she will have fines to pay to the state for breaking the law. She then says that this works out for me because I can get all my money back by returning my dog, I told her I'm not returning a dog that has been part of my family for over four months. I thought I was getting a purebred dog I had all the paperwork supposedly showing the origin of the dog but no registration paperwork. I called again to see when I can get my refund (since shannon was not returning my calls) finally the owner (shannon) returned my call to tell me that I'm not her main concern right now. I finally got my refund after countless amount of calls and getting the run around from the most unprofessional people I have ever meet in my life. So purebred dog no registration papers and I will never be able to register her as a purebred dog. Even with a 75% refund I could have gotten a cheaper Yorkie with no paperwork and no hassle. The owner and the workers are extremely rude and misrepresented this dog as pure breed just to make a sale when there was never any registration papers. So I am lead to believe that my certificate of pedigree, origin of dog and other documentation that was given to me was falsified because if this information was correct then they would have no problem finding her registration papers. They completely lied about this puppy being purebred and broke the contract. Do not buy from this store and defiantly check with the bbb before making purchases.

BBB and Small Claims Court
We reported Pet's Delight to the BBB and we also took Pet's Delight to Small Claims. WE WON! Every dime we forked out to get our sick puppy well, was full returned, including court costs, etc. Pet's Delight is crooks and liars and you will never get paperwork on the origin of your animal because the purchase their animals from Puppy Mills. False advertising and sick animals - isn't it about time this place is shut down!!!

Enough is Enough! File a COMPLAINT!!
Hi after reading all these reviews I find myself sick that I TOO did not check up on the people at Pet's Delight! I have the same horror story. I purchased what I thought was a Yorkie but ends up being either a YorkiePoo or Yorkie-Maltese. Max got sick right after we got him and $2k in vet bills later we still have no answers as to what is wrong with him. Rather than go on a on about this - is STRONGLY urge anyone who has had any problem with these horrible people to file a complaint at the BBB - it seems like several of their stores get a D rating but WORSE the Pasadena store has not had any of these complaints registered. It's VERY easy to do this go online to:
http://www.labbb.org/BBBWeb/Forms/Business/CompanyReportPage_Expository.aspx?CompanyID=13020272
Without your help and voice nothing will be done!! There are too many of us for the BBB not to ignore! These people have no ethics!

Rude Service...Go Elsewhere
I was recently in the shop to pick up a replacement aquarium pump for my girlfriend. I had the model manufacturer and number. The blonde woman, who runs the shop, assured me this was the exact pump I needed even though it was a different brand. She also assured me that I could bring it back if was not sufficient.
I tried to return the pump today for a cash refund and was then told that there are no cash refunds by a junior clerk. The blonde woman who sold me the pump was in ear shot, looked at me like she recognized me, and would not intervene even after I mentioned how she promised me a refund.
I like the idea of supporting local businesses, however this woman could learn alot from Petco or Pestsmart.

Horrible place and rude people
I try to support local businesses over big chainstores, but this place is horrible. I give it less than a star.
I could not beleive how rude the blond lady with the glasses was to me when I told my friend she should adopt a rabbit from the Humane Society instead of buying one from there. I understand she was upset that I might be undermining a sale, but her rabbits looked pathetic and sick in their tiny enclosures. In response, she first insisted that the Humane Society did not carry rabbits (of course they do) and then told me that the animals there would probably die right after they were adopted.
On a seperate occasion I commented about a parrot that a friend of mine had purchased at the store being particularly aggressive and she flat out told me that it was because my friend was abusing the bird. When I told her I didn't appreciate her accusing my friend of abuse, she told me I didn't know what I was talking about.
The puppies by the door are in tiny, filthy cages and rarely have any food. The puppies in the window at least have more room, but it must get over 90 degrees in that display case and the water bowls are always full of shredded paper from the floor.
The "bird room" is disgusting and smelly. I don't care how messy animals naturally are, I well maintained petstore does not smell like a sewer.
I would never purchase a creature from this store.

thank you
Thank you to all of you for putting your two cents in. i am looking to buy a kitten for my little cousin who is turning 7. would have been a shame if he/she would have one of those HORRIBLE sickness' that you all were talking about. I am a local here in South Pasadena, went to high school here. I am sitting in an office in South Pasadena right now. I have been in the store many of times and have found it quite pleasant. That is, with all the dogs and kittens and birds on display. But....there is an issue with cleanliness. Thanks again to all the people who put in there time to explain their heartfelt experiences.
Since everyone is so furious with this store, I would like to know if anyone would recommend where to get a kitten or a puppy. I was looking into adoptin from the humane society, or the animal service centers. Please feel free to e-mail me @ karlos2169@gmail.com with any ideas or comments.
Thank you

BEWARE OF UNSCRUPULOUS STORE!
The people who posted great comments have not bought a pet here. That's the problem with this puppy-mill supporter. Our "purebred," "with papers" puppy became acutely ill only days after arriving home. To satisfy our contract, we took her to Pet's Delight's vet, who diagnosed diarrhea (duh!). When she was still vomiting and had diarrhea two days later, our own vet diagnosed advanced Giardia. It's an intestinal parasite that can only be transmitted from water, food, or fur from an infected animal. Common in kennels and puppy mills. Owner dodged my calls and visits for days. I wanted other animals there tested to protect them. The manager claimed none of them were sick, and the Giardia came from my house. We had no other animals, she had not eaten since she came home and her water was right out of the tap. Thousands of dollars later, the parasite was conquered. Her intestinal system never recovered, and she has vomiting and diarrhea 2.5 years later. Because they accidentally left the purchase papers in her file, I discovered she had been born in a puppy mill in Missouri, then trucked to Ohio and again to CA and Pet's Delight. Her "papers"? Non-AKC, some fly-by-night organization that allows their dogs more than 7 breedings in a lifetime. Thank God our dog is so loved, or she would have been put down for her misery. BEWARE! Their animals are from mills, their vet is a scam, and the kennel conditions are deplorable. Save yourself grief and money, and rescue a HEALTHY pet from the pound!

Pet's DEMISE
One star is too much for this place!
The name of this place is a misnomer. It SHOULD be "Pet's Demise" not "Pet's Delight" The owner, yes, the blonde miserable woman with the big hair, is in cahoots with other careless and evil puppy mills, where she gets her puppies. I made a huge mistake of purchasing a sweet little Golden Retriever puppy from there who fell ill one day later. He had Kennel Cough, which quickly turned to pneumonia ...which then turned to septic pneumonia. I sat up with him on nights, rocking him, crying and begging God not to let him suffer. God heard my prayers and let him go. I can't begin to tell any of you how painful the experience was and is. The heartache was unbearable. Now I'm not the only one that this has happened to, unfortunately. I've warned everyone I can about this hellish pet store, yet sometimes people need to learn on their own. Just last week, a good friend of mine bought a Labrador puppy there. She died two days later from Kennel Cough. Big surprise. I could just kick her for buying the puppy after all the warnings I've given her. Needless to say, she's heartbroken and the problem is perpetuated. I've encountered 8 strangers with the SAME story as mine. I don't know what it's going to take for people to get the message, but something's got to be done to stop this Cruella DeVille from business! The Pasadena Humane Society is well aware of "Pet's Delight" Not only have I informed them on numerous occasions of the wrong doings of this business, but others have to. That blonde beast is very-very good at dodging them. I have reported her to every agency that I could think of in an effort to close her and her EVIL business down. I even took her to court for the loss of our puppy. I knew I wouldn't win (I could have "returned the merchandise" Nice, huh?) but I wanted her to know that some of us take the lives of innocent creatures seriously. She didn't care one iota. I can only wish that she comes back as a breeder dog in a puppy mill herself in her next life. I just can't say enough bad things about her and her ways. She gives the word "btch" a bad name! Other news I know about:I've spoken to neighboring business' and one even told me that she was breeding cats in her basement (before she moved to the Fair Oaks location ...when the store was located on Mission, which is now the Dinosaur Farm ...a great business) The business owner that I spoke to said nothing but horrid things. A good friend of mine reported seeing a large van pull up to Pet's Delight around 10 at night, packed with crying cats and dogs inside. Another good friend got a Dalmation from there ...had to be put down due to severe kidney disease. I've called the Pasadena Humane Society umpteen times to report very bad and cramped conditions for the puppies (last summer when it was hotter than h*ll, the puppies were in direct sunlight with no water ...you know, the windows in the front of the store. There were 5 large dogs cramped in there)One time, I saw a bonefide mutt in the window. I thought I'd give them a call just to see how badly they were ripping people off. I asked "What sort of dog is that in your window?" "Uhm, I think it's a Chow and Lab Mix""Oh, I see. How much is it?""Seven hundred and eight dollars""(laughing) Oh really? For a mutt?""Well, that's what they go for"I ended it with, "That's a bunch of BS and hung up"If you want some serious heartache and don't care about animals, go ahead and support Pet's Delight. If you do care about animals, DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS! I can't say it enough!!!
***Added: To those of you who are calling us unhappy customers, "disgruntled" you're right! We are very-very upset about the inhumane way the animals are treated and we are trying to let others know that by supporting this business, you're supporting puppy mills and other animal abusing people. How can you argue with so many negative experiences. Obviously, we all can't be wrong. There are only a few of you who have written nice things here and I wouldn't doubt for a minute that those positive reviews are coming from employees and the miserable owner of the store!

Pets Delight must get their dogs from puppy farms, even though they deny it. I bought a 6 month old Yellow Lab from them a year ago last October. She was a wonderful animal. My kids loved her and she got along well with our other dogs. When she started losing her hair about 6 months ago, we took her to the Vet. She was there for weeks! It was determined she was allergic to just about everything from foods to plants and grasses. We put her on a special diet and meds and her coat came back. 3 days ago she started coughing and vomiting liquid. She would not eat. Yesterday she died. Apparently she had a genetic disease that mimics sickle cell anemia. She had, virtually no immune system. The dog would never have lived long. It was the first time she had gotten sick.
Stay away from Pet's Delight! They do offer a 1 year guarantee against genetic defects, but if you're considering buying a puppy, these defects may take longer than a year to appear. I'm looking into whether I have any legal recourse. If you want a particular breed, go to an ethical breeder.

heart broken
Six years ago I bought a Jack Russell Terrier puppy from Pet's delight. She had a very serious heart problem. I had to put her to sleep a week ago after six years of giving her medications twice daily and much care. I wouldn't buy another pet from them.

Helpful and Friendly
I just wondered upon this site and having lived in S.P for years all I can say is I have never found these this to be true.. It is a pet store and pets make mess, but they seem to always be attending to them, Any of the animals I have seen appear healthy and I have met people at the local dog park that have purchased dogs from that store and I have'nt heard these stories... I think some people that cant be satisified should understand that if these things were happening regularly the store would not be in business, I have always used the Better Business to reference a store if i have any questions, they are there to hear both sides of the story and make a detemination based on facts.

They lost my dog!
My family had been taking our dogs to Pet's Delight for grooming for several years, and never had a problem. I am visiting for the family with my border collie, Monty, from Philadelphia. I dropped off my parents' dogs and Monty for grooming one Friday morning. That afternoon I got a call that Monty had gotten out. They had looked for him for 1.5 hours before calling me. It turned out the lock on his cage was broken, and the door to the street left open. It later came out that he had wandered loose around the store before running out. At least one employee saw him in the store, and did not grab him. The grooming staff had gone to lunch.
After 7 hours of my family and friends looking, calling, and putting up fliers, I did find Monty, thankfully. But it was one of the worst days of my life, terrified for my poor dog lost in a city he doesn't know.
While the staff of Pet's Delight did not intentionally harm my dog and they were all desperately sorry, there were several mistakes made by several staff members. It was only a small miracle that I found him again. I was absolutely livid that it took 1.5 hours to tell me he had gotten out --he would have responded to my voice much better than theirs.
This is basically a case of incompetence. I would strongly discourage anyone from leaving their animals in the care of these people.

One star is even too generous!!!
I had just moved into town and fell in love with "the puppy in the window". I have never had animals before and because Pet's Delight had been in the area for so long I thought they were a reputable facility. I wish I would have gone online before I purchased a pet from Pet's Delight and read these horror stories. My puppy was infected with Giardia when I purchased her. I then had no idea what the disease was, or what was to happen in the months to come. She has had Giardia for 8 months now and we have almost lost her twice. We have followed every instruction given by Pet's Delight including seeing their Vet. Upon receiving a second and third opinion from other Veterinary professionals it was evident that our puppy had not been receiving the proper care and in addition, other ailments had been misdiagnosed. I was not prepared for the emotional roller coaster that we have been on, and certainly had no idea just how much love I could feel for a puppy. Snickerdoodle is a Lhasa-Maltese mix and is continuing to suffer from the Giardia, as well as the side effects from being on the medication for so long. She is a beautiful and loving puppy and truly does not deserve the hand that she was dealt. I am deeply saddened that Pet's Delight fails to take responsibility for their actions and replied to me with a letter from a Lawyer basically telling me to jump in the lake. They knowingly purchase from puppy mills out of state and ship the animals to CA on an open air truck. Sadly, after meeting many people in the waiting rooms at several Veterinary Clinic's I learned that my puppy was lucky as most of them do not survive the trip and many die shortly upon arrival. I have also met an abundant amount of people who purchased pets from Pet's Delight that were infected with Giardia. One woman had a Giardia infected pet that passed the illness on to her young child. A scary thought as Giardia is a nasty disease that is transferable to humans and can be deadly to small children. I consider myself blessed to have Snickerdoodle, even if it is only for a short time, but hope that no one else has to endure the pain that our family has suffered.Pet's Delight needs to clean up their act and be accountable.

sad pets
There are already too many dogs without us supporting puppy mills and Pets Delight compounding the misery. If you love animals, you'll adopt.
I can't stress enough the importance of how "purebreds" are merely status symbols ( most of the time ) and re-examining priorities can clarify if you, the consumer of LIVING creatures, really want an animal companion or a piece of furniture. I won't buy food/supplies at such an establishment... no matter how good their selection is

I WAS DISSAPOINTED & NAIVE
I have been living in Pasadena for two years and I always found Pets Delight to be charming, quaint, and full of wonderful pets; however, the poor animals (I am almost certain) are mistreated by the horrible owners. I also feel bad for the staff, as the two women: the miserable lady with curly short hair and the other bitter one with long hair (I believe her name is Nicky). Nicky seems to be in her early thirties, thin, blonde, and just MEAN.
My horror story began in November 2006 when I saw two Russian Blues priced at $800 each, without authenticity documents, and exposed to every customers germs. Needless to say, one of the kittens (the male, the other was a female) caught an eye infection. When I asked what had happened, I was told it was because of the wind coming from the back door and that there was nothing they could do. WHAT! I thought, how about shutting the door? Keeping it in the back away from people and other pets, etc.? I was so furious and wanted to purchase the kittens right away. Unfortunately, they were WAY overpriced.
Three months went by and I made an offer, however, they were firm on the price. The blonde lady was always nice to me, until I tried to bargain the price, then she turned really mean. Long story short, I visited the kittens almost every day and when I finally spoke with Nicky she was just horrible and I just wanted to walk out. I bit my tongue and tried to talk her down to $200 (for one kitten that was left), since the kitten was not registered. She said that was final that the kittens had never been priced at $800, that there was never a male & a female, that they were both males, and she told me the male kitten was never sick with an eye infection. I WAS FURIOUS! My husband had tried to warn me about the place and said the conditions were not right for the pets. But I was too nave and could not believe anyone would be mean to pets, specially a store that seemed to have a good reputation.
Shame on PETS DELIGHT! Shame on them.

I'm a Long Time Happy Customer!
After reading some of the negative reviews from obviously disgruntled customers (it seems like they are the only ones to put the energy into writing a review these days) I felt compelled to add my own. A POSITIVE ONE! I have been a long time customer (over 20 years) and have always had a good experience. Every time I have come in (which is usually at least twice a month) the store is clean, the animals look healthy and playful, the staff (while it does tend to get kind of hectic on weekends) is knowlegable and helpful and the prices fair.

ROTTEN PLACE
The owner, the blonde, is miserable. The staff is sometimes helpful, usually can't be bothered. The place stinks and I wish the Pas. Humane Society would come around and have a look. Way overpriced. I will drive 5 miles to a pet store rather than go there. Don't waste your time or money.
PROS: If it's close to you, use only in an emergency. Go to a market for food.
CONS: All of the above and more.

horrible
My friend got a dog there and it had Parvo. The owner is not nice at all. She's the blonde with the big hair. The cages in the back smell, the employees are miserable, they are over-priced and most of the time the dogs are panting because it is too hot. The owner is too cheap to turn the air on.
PROS: none
CONS: everything

Pets Delight
I have had nothing but good experiences with the staff at Pets Delight. They are one of the best stocked pet stores around. I recently got two puppies from them, after searching at several animal shelters. The puppies are healthy, smart and have brought alot of joy to us. Sure, if you go to the store on a weekend, they will be busy, but they are knowledgeable and experienced in all areas of pet care.
PROS: Well stocked store.
CONS: Can get quite busy on weekends.

DO NOT GIVE THIS STORE YOUR BUSINESS
I got my dog at Pet's Delight 6 years ago (though I tried to adopt one from the pound) and I felt likeI was rescuing a pet! My dog, Heidi, was very neurotic, which I can deal with but when we tried to groom her she went nuts! She had obviously been abused at this store because just the sight of a comb, brush, or scissors would make her go berserk! Do what you will with this information. I don't think dogs should be sold in pet stores at all. There are plenty of dogs out there that need good homes.

Used them a few times for grooming, but...
I actually thought they were very friendly and seemed nice enough, but after reading these reviews, I'm reconsidering going there. I did peak in at the grooming facilities and they did look a little dirty, but I thought it was because, well, pets can be dirty... and I thought they cut my dogs nails too short and was afraid they would bleed. And yes, the staff did seem a little short-tempered but they were very busy when I was there. I also don't like the idea of purchasing pets from a pet store considering how many animals need adoption. All in all, I will be looking for a new grooming place.
PROS: Convenient location for me
CONS: Dirty, a little unfriendly and they sell animals

A great selection to choose from-- always.
Having read the other reviews of this store that speak of the associates as rude, I want to say this: Imagine you work in a pet store that has tons more cute baby angel puppies and kitties than your average local shop. Imagine how expensive most beautiful little angel babies are (most pure breds go anywhere from 700 to 1800 dollars here, and in general). Now imagine how many people go in and want to hold them and play with them and have absolutley no intention of or means to buy them. You have to be a little selective in letting people hold the babies because you can't watch everybody and take care of everybody who needs your assistance at the same time. Be patient and be sincere and you will get plenty of help. I saw lots of kids come in who just wanted to hold a puppy. That's fun, but potentially dangerous for the animal. This store always has great dogs. (Less so cats). Trust me, you don't want to buy your animal from a loosey goosey place that doesn't care about the well being of the animals they sell.

Great pet store!!
This pet store is located on a corner off of Fair Oaks in South Pasadena. What I like about this pet store is that they have a lot of dogs for a small petstore. They also have an open cage, where you are able to pet the animals. Aside from your typical pet store, they offer pet services as well- pet hotel and grooming.
PROS: great variety of dogs
CONS:

PE SALES
I PURCHSED A KITTEN FROM PET DELIGHT. THE KITTEN WAS ILL WITH RINGWORM. ALSO I PURCHASED TOYS A CAT TREE AND OTHER ITEMS. WE BATTLED THE RINGWORM FOR OVER 6MO. SHE CHARGEG FOR THE KITTEN WHICH WAS OK BUT THE FACT HE WAS SICK SHE DID NOT ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR. AS A RESULT I WOULD NOT GIVE HER STORE MY BUSINESS. SHE IS NOT THE CLEANEST PET BUSINESS AND I THINK SHE SELLS SICK ANIMALS. SHE ALSO HAS ANOTHER STORE IN MONROVIA WHICH I FOUND TO BE VERY DIRTY. EVEN THE SALES PERSON SAID MY KITTEN PROBABLY GOT THE RINGWORM FROM THE STORE.

More expensive than other pet stores for food and services. I used to get my cat's nails clipped there and they would double muzzle her and put her in a little straight jacket, and she was only a kitten. I thought that was mean so now I just clip her nails myself.
