Garden City Casino is conveniently located right off the freeway. They have plenty of parking available in their lot. They have a pretty nice facility and I like the fact that its a non-smoking facility unlike Bay 101. They have poker games and California games. Their restaurant is pretty good with live entertainment available every night.
I went here a couple times with my friends just to survey the field. For starters it is little more than a glorified card room. Sure it has all the right equipment but that is what the atmosphere is like. Although it may be an indian casino, the workers are predominantly asian. I guess the claim to fame is that some of the famous poker players began in this card room. I'd go here for the poker, not much else.
This place has a very shady atmosphere, unlike bay 101 which has a more lively atmosphere for a card room. When I walk in, I see a lot of old peole spending their last pennies at the tables. It is kind of sad. People play the games here like it is their job and do not have fun it seems. I would much rather go to anohter casino.
Sometimes you get an itch for gambling that cannot be satisfied unless you give it a good scratch. Unfortunately, with Las Vegas being over 9 hours away and Reno being far too cold to deal with in the winter, I had to forgo my dreams of splendor until a friend introduced me to GARDEN CITY casino right her in good ol' Santa Clara. It was a fun night and we had a fantastic time. i am glad that there is a place to go nearby for some good old fashioned gambling.
PROS: 24 hour, clean, safe
CONS: makes you forget that gambling is bad for you
hearing so many rants and raves about this place, we headed out to the restaurant inside of a casino. maybe it was the day we choose (wednesday) but the service was slow, prime rib over cooked, the horseradish curdled. i just didn't think the meal was worth $70 for two people. (two alchoholic drinks included) may be a nice to grab food while hitting the black jack tables but not my cup of tea.
