My experience there was ok. Its always crowded when I go but my car is usually done when they say it will be. A little pricey but if you can find a shop that specialize in BMWs I would take it there cause they will put a dent in your pocket.

The Worst BMW Experience Ever. Do not even drive by this place anymore as I get upset. just brought my BMW in for service...I needed to get the brake linings checked and they told me that they would call me within an hour. They did and told me that it would cost me over $1600 to replace the brake linings, rotors and pads!!! What a rip off! I told him that I would bring it to a little shop somewhere and pay half that to get it done. The service guy, Chris was a very arrogant man and told me fine, just go sign the papers. I went to the counter and they charged me $150 for nothing! The car wasnt even cleaned. I have been going to Penske for three years and they always cleaned and washed my car no matter what, even if I was just stopping by. I would not suggest anybody go to this shop. The nicest person there was Manuel, the guy who drives the shuttle. Christoper is the guy I dealt with and he was extremely rude and pretencious. However, I would higly suggest you try Marina Motors at 4214 Lincoln Boulevard. The guy fixed my brakes for 1/4 of the price that Santa Monica said and even fixed my brake light for free. Great service!

I just went to Santa Monica BMW for an air bag recall and was assured that I would not have to pay anything, they called me in the afternoon to say that the air bag issue may be a result of low battery power and they could not determine if the issue was with the air bag until i got a new battery. The battery costs $800 so I said no thanks, they suggest that I take care of the battery myself and come back. When i went to pick up the car they slapped me with a $140 bill. When I shared my situation with them and said the issues were to be fixed and looked at with no charge they dismissed it and took advantage of the fact that the people I spoke to were with BMW North America and a service manager that had left for the day. They proceeded to say that I could leave the car over night and deal with it tomorrow, knowing that I had no other means of transportation, they pretty much took my car hostage. I've spent more time then I've ever wanted to and was treated so poorly I NEVER want to go there again and strongly advise anyone who is thinking about going to Santa Monica BMW change their mind and go else where. It was the worst customer experience ever, they were misleading and extremely deceptive. I felt insulted and left extremely upset. Moral of the story:

DO NOT GO TO SANTA MONICA BMW

My car was due to service so I took it to SMBMW and I was amazed by the courtesy and professionalism with which I was treated.
My service advisor Matthias (call him the Austrian) took care of me and my car, that gave me the feeling I belong to his family. He explained to me in a manner so I could actually understand what was wrong with my BMW and what needs to be fixed. He was efficient and courteous in a way that made a miserable morning, into a pleasant experience. This guy is something else!!! When it comes to cars and understanding that you don't have the best time when you have to take your beamer to the garage.
My car was finished right on time, as promised and clean. I got walked to the cashier by the ??Austrian? and I felt really comfortable to be in the presence of this gentleman. This is a total different SMBMW as experienced in previous visits.
If you ever have to go to a BMW dealership I can only recommend to visit SMBMW and make sure you ask for Matthias or the ??Austrian? when you make your appointment. You will be amazed I can assure you.
Just as I was leaving I remembered I want to pair my Bluetooth Mobil with my beamer, which is not always the easiest procedure, Matthias observed that I was somehow struggling so he came out to the sidewalk asked if I needed some assistance and did the whole procedure for me at no cost plus he explained to me how to do this so that I am now able to do it myself should I ever have to. As I offered him a tip he declined and said this is all part of the service and there is no need for that, a thank you is more than enough.
Go there ask for Matthias and your day will be this little bit brighter.

This is my first BMW and I upgraded to this 55K car thinking you pay for the service of an upper echelon brand, coming from a string of Audi's that I've been very happy with. It was always customers first at Audi and I was treated like a star. As soon as I stepped in the BMW service here everyone had a grim face on and when the Advisor asked me what problems I was having I began to to tell him, and as I got to the 2nd problem he actually told me to shush and stop talking so he could focus on typing the first one down. No sorry or one second, but shush. Then when I told him I had some rattles and if he could check them he told me he has a BMW and it rattles everywhere and I should be a man and live with it...not even in jest.WHO SAYS THAT? So after I get my last 2 problems fixed here I will never step foot in this dealership again. Absolutely the worst. I rated them a 1 on the customer call survey.

The service advisors are total wastes of life that get nothing done and have bad attitudes. The sales side is equally as worthless and takes every opportunity to charge their customers a "premium" on certain cars that they like to pretend are rare and in high demand. The entire experience from calling to set up a service appointment to picking up my car was one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. First, when I called, the receptionist was obviously busy with anything else in the world other than my call because I had to spell my name 7 (no exageration) times and give my number 4 times. When I pulled in for my appointment no one comes to your car (like they do at any other dealership), so I wandered around the office looking for someone to check me in. When I finally did get someone to check me in he was so rushed he heard about half what I said. BTW, no courtesy car, however they will rent you one at the awesome price of 35 bucks/day, HA! To top it off they couldnt fix the car and then had the nerve to try and blame the problem on something I did,, saying I drove the car at over 25mph while putting the top down (are you crazy, who would do that), then saying maybe a valet did it, but even so its not under warranty. Before he could even offer his insance price to fix it (a buddy price as it was called) I told him I would be taking it to another dealership. As Im leaving he puts a piece of paper in front of me to sign which says that the customer stated he put the top down while driving 25 mph!! He actually tried to get me to sign something admitting fault so the warranty would forever be tarnished, I was so angry I forced him to amend the letter and then conveniently the girl at the front tried to get me to sign the old copy admitting fault yet again. I of course refused so she had to write customer refused to sign, when I got my car back it was actually dirtier then when I gave it to them and it took them 25 minutes to bring my car around. Avoid this place at all costs, it is the worst representative of BMW out there. I have never seen such deception and poor service in my life, Im talking restaurants, dealerships whatever, watch yourself around these guys and just go to BH BMW.

When I pulled in for my appointment no one comes to your car (like they do at any other dealership), so I wandered around the office looking for someone to check me in. When I finally did get someone to check me in he was so rushed he heard about half what I said. BTW, no courtesy car, however they will rent you one at the awesome price of 35 bucks/day, HA! To top it off they couldnt fix the car and then had the nerve to try and blame the problem on something I did,, saying I drove the car at over 25mph while putting the top down (are you crazy, who would do that), then saying maybe a valet did it, but even so its not under warranty. Before he could even offer his insance price to fix it (a buddy price as it was called) I told him I would be taking it to another dealership. As Im leaving he puts a piece of paper in front of me to sign which says that the customer stated he put the top down while driving 25 mph!! He actually tried to get me to sign something admitting fault so the warranty would forever be tarnished, I was so angry I forced him to amend the letter and then conveniently the girl at the front tried to get me to sign the old copy admitting fault yet again. I of course refused so she had to write customer refused to sign, when I got my car back it was actually dirtier then when I gave it to them and it took them 25 minutes to bring my car around. Avoid this place at all costs, it is the worst representative of BMW out there. I have never seen such deception and poor service in my life, Im talking restaurants, dealerships whatever, watch yourself around these guys and just go to BH BMW.

I took my 328I to the Santa Monica BMW dealership because my brake lights were not working.
They called to tell me it was the wiring and the cost to fix would be $980 !!!! Needless to say I told them not to repair them. They then proceeded to charge me $137 to get my car released!! I ended up taking my car to AE German in SM for another issue. I had them look at the brake light issue as well. They said it was a swith and it would be $150 to fix. Because it was overelooked when I arrived, they spent the 20 minutes to change the switch and then did not charge me for it for my inconvience of waiting : ) I am truely flabbergasted at the fact that a dealership can get away with such a criminal act of fraud!!!!

DO NOT GO HERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. My car was under full warranty (only two years after purchase), and for a small door lock issue which they were unable to fix, they came back to me and said if I returned with the same problem, I would be charged. THE CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY. I was made to sign a document saying I would be charged just to release the car. I later talked with the service manager who completely negated the service consultant's statement and said there is no way the dealership can charge when the car is under full warranty. The service advisor was DAN. They had my car for 10 days (5 days they did nothing). They are understaffed, poor quality, and worst of all terrible service. The time before that, it took them 4 hours to do an oil change, the reason being they washed the car first and somehow confused it with a car that was already serviced, since they normally wash the car after service.

I bought my car at Santa Monica BMW, and initially received good service. After my service Advisor left ( he passed on, Les was GREAT!), the service was horrible. I recently had my car serviced there because the fuel pump went out, and it was the closest dealer for the tow truck (they also did the oil service). They did not check the air pressure in the tires, did not check my brake linings, and did not properly re-install the rock guard/cowling underneath the engine.

This was just the last of a long string of problems with them. I would not buy from them, or take my car there under any circumstances, UNLESS you want really bad service.

I went in to try and find out if all the recalls on my BMW had been performed. The customer service reps made me feel like I was causing them some sort of problem by being there. Such a bad attitude! I won't be taking my car in there for any reason again. First impressions last and they don't seem to deserve my business.

We have consistently had bad experiences servicing our car here and the last time they charged us almost double what they should have. We even bought the car from them and the service is terrible and the reps are dishonest and rude.

Santa Monica BMW is the worst dealer I have dealt with EVER, I've owned 3 BMW's and have lived in 4 different cities and I've had no complaints until I ran into SM BMW. I think I'm putting their kids through college. No loaner/rentals, if you didn't buy your vehicle from them they gouge you, i got my inspection #2($900) 2 days later I need an alternator($800), one month later I need thermal housings amongst other things($1100) and I just got it back and my radiator is empty....NO FLUID! do not go to SM BMW.. go elsewhere!!!

Nice cars but not usually the best deal on a BMW. We were ignored the day we went in and practically had to beg for help.
Later on we asked for a reccomendation for a body shop and they sent us to some seedy place. Shop elsewhere for your car--I like the dealer in Van Nuys.
