Redwood General Tire

I was a big fan of General Tire for 6 year, but in the last year, I was terribly disappointed. I took my car in for a check engine light, an oil change and a new headlight. I got a $300 oil change back and a broken glove compartment. They told me they could not read the diagnosis for the check engine but charged me $170. Changed the oil, forgot the headlight and broke the glove compartment. When I picked up the car, they denied that they broken the glove compartment. They said I brought it in broke and it was open already. Last time I ever go there. I ended up at Ontrack in Burlingame. They had no trouble with the codes for the check engine and they fixed General's broken glove compartment. I'll never go back even though it's closer to my house.

My husband and I have been going to General Tire for approx 12 years. We have had overall very good experiences. We buy our tires, have alignments, tune-ups, brakes, oil changes. The front office staff is exceptional. Professional, courteous and willing to listen. We recently had brakes done on one of our cars and the were squeaky a couple of days after. No problem, they took care of it right away. I recommend General Tire to all our friends.

My prior experience matched the other two reviews. Not this year.

This year I took a Nissan there for alignment and balancing and got back a car that shook violently. Didn't shake before I took it in. They said it was probably a bent rim, and as long as it was on the back it didn't matter. Around the same time I took a minivan in for a tuneup, and two days later the head cracked. They said it was just a head gasket, but when I crawled underneath the head was visibly cracked. They said it was because I was low on radiator fluid, and they didn't check fluid levels during a tuneup (even though they told me they did before I took it in).

Let's see... that's two cars worse off within days of Redwood General working on them. One of those cars had to be hauled off and thrown away. Maybe that's a coincidence.

Oh, one more thing: They won't give road hazard coverage on low profile tires (for my NEW car), and Costco's prices are lower with road hazard and lifetime repair/rebalancing included.

Redwood General Tire is the BEST place to go when you are need need of tires and car repairs. They let you know right away what is wrong with your vehicle and how muich it is going to be for repairs. The owner, Alpio is a great guy.

I have purchased tires for a few of my cars at Redwood General Tire. They are always professional, knowledgeable, and they are very fair and don't try to "rip you off." I bought tires for my Infinity QX 4 that lasted over 50K miles. They will rotate your tires for free and even give you a ride to your work (if within a reasonable distance). I really like that I can trust them and that they sell only good products.
