Yes, this is as good as it gets when you compare to Medieval Times or the recently opened Battle of the Dance. My party and I (a total of 8 adults) had a very fun time at Pirates. We were there on a night that was almost completely sold

Wow, people sure are ignorant when it comes to um... life.

Pirate's Dinner Adventure in Buena Park was a great time for my family & I this past weekend. My husband & I read the reviews before coming & were a little apprehensive about the experience, but after finding good deals on the admission (there are so many deals out there that give you up to 50% off) we decided since the boys like pirates, it was PDA for us!

Firstly, during the pre-show was a bit long, but we got there early so we could secure good seats & of course booze it up (that's why we brought AA auntie with us to drive). We were expecting outrageous prices at the bar, but after thinking about it, and after a little help from the bartender explaining, the prices were actually about that of a good dive bar. I have to break this down for you nay-sayers simply because I feel, as I said before, people can be so effing ignorant.

Normal cocktail = $10 for 1/5 oz booze in 16 oz cup. Each time. (That's like walking into a bar and paying 10 bucks for a vodka tonic.)
Souvenir cocktail = $16 for 3 oz booze in 20 oz glass
+ you keep the glass
+ with $8 refills (broken down, that's a $4.00 top-shelf cocktail)
+ free soda refills if you don't want to drink anymore

Beers are decently priced. It might be the approach of some of the bartenders, which can come off kind of gimmeky, but one of the gals behind the bar was really nice & shot straight with us when we asked her to break everything down. Then again she was the only one with glasses, so maybe she was the smartest at the math or something.

MOVING ON:
Pre-show was awesome. My two boys & my husband loved it. The gypsie girl with her acrobatics, the suspenseful attack, everything. It just made sense- the preshow introduces the plot & the pirates & starts to rally team spirit.

Entering the arena had my boys all crazy. A giant pirate ship in the middle, stadium seating all around. A little bit cramped, but honestly, unless you're one of those annoying twits who asks for a giant booth for a party of 2 at a restaurant, most restaurant seating is just slightly uncomfortable. Plus, you're eating dinner in a stadium-seating arena. Get over it?

The servers were a little beaten-down looking, but they were friendly and helpful. Our options of chicken or pork were both very tasty, especially in an establishment that is required to feed up to 800 people simultaneously. Think about it folks. You can probably barely manage to feed your own family decent tasting food at the same time- give them a break- 800 people!

The chicken was served with rice that was, admittedly, a little dry but the chicken was flavored perfectly & very moist. If you think the chicken is tasteless, need I remind you again... cooking for up to 800 people- you're probably going to want to go light on the crazy flavor combos for fear of even more retards complaining about it being too spicy or too salty or too whatever.

The pork was just as good, cooked thoroughly, which is most important in my book. The BBQ sauce wasn't some gourmet, 76 spices & fourteen layers of heat and smoke- it was effing BBQ sauce. It went well with the tender & generous portion of pork, and the mashed potatoes served with it were excellent!

The salad and soup were both also good, as well as the cobbler a la mode served for dessert. We never ran out of soda & the coffee was hot & fresh, just in time for the cobbler.

Then... the show. Oh my goodness I have never been so entertained in my life. And my boys, husband, and sober auntie all were either speechless, laughing, or amazed the entire time.

I will definitely be returning to this awesome place. At least they have silverware and interaction with the audience, and a silly plot, and hot shirtless piratey guys everywhere- unlike somewhere next door (Medieval - ahem).

Five stars all the way. Don't listen to 90% of these ignorant idiots who probably have never had the luxury of affording actual 5 Star service. But for the money (which is about $30 per person for dinner & entertainment for almost 3 hours) this place definitely out-does itself.

We read a lot of these reviews so our expectations were really low but we couldn't stomach paying for Medieval Times to entertain 2 toddlers. We expected lousy food and a lame show but actually the food was pretty good (although the salad was just lettuce and ranch I think) and the show was what you might expect...lots of hammy humor and overacting. The value was good too. Basically the same as dinner and a movie for the 5 of us. We would recommend this to friends for sure.

Cons: had to pay for souvenir glass for a mai tai

We went for my sons 8th birthday. We had a BLAST. It was a fun experience from the time we arrived. They had appetizers in the waiting area as well as a pre-show. We bought a souvenir drink glass from the bar as well as a flag for each member of our party (to cheer for our Pirate!!). Once the show started they incorporated members of the audience into the show. My family has been to Medieval Times twice, and I think the Pirates experience was MUCH better, more interactive. I signed up for their email telling about the deals they offer. So I was able to get in for less than half of what I would have spent without the great deal. It was a very fun experience. The food was good. I wasn't expecting gourmet, but I wasn't disappointed in the food. I was there to be entertained, so I think the whole experience was a good one. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend this for a fun thing to do with family or friends. Don't go with a bad attitude, what you put into it is what you will get out of it.
We went KNOWING we would have a good time, and we were not disappointed, not even a little!!!

I'll say this quick and to the point. It's way too much money for a cold dinner that probably came out of the fridge. The entertainment was awesome for the little ones. I know that any child would love to be on the ship with the captain. And the staff encouranges people to get up and cheer. I would strongly suggest medevil times after the pirate show. The one good thing about the pirate show was the trapeize woman who had a wonderful athlete physique, and she could do almost anything on-stage and above the stage. I didn't pay for this experience because it was our xmas party, but there is no way I'd go back to this place and pay.

Loved it. We were a party of 15. We got there in time to enjoy the preshow and enjoy the appetizers. The preshow was great! Then we were sitted in the Red Section, 3rd row. Couldn't ask for a better sit. Everyone got involved in the show. Men, Women and Children. We all got involved one way or another. We were celebrating my teenage son's 14th birthday. He and his friends along with all the parents truly loved every part of it. The staff was fantastic, the food was good, the desert was great and the birthday celebration was fantastic. THANK YOU! We really didn't expect it and were pleasantly surprised.

I went here for a friend's birthday. It's a hokey premise to have a themed dinner show that's basically a Medieval Times rip off, only instead of knights and horses, you have pirates. But I figured that if I got really drunk, it would be a blast. Well, I did get really drunk and I was enjoying the show and then I started sobering up and realized that I was cheering for a goofy looking dude in a red pirate outfit. What was worse, our pirate lost at every challenge and got his butt kicked by all the other pirates. By the end of the night, i was about 70 dollars poorer, I lost my voice cheering for a losing pirate, and I was holding a light up toy sword and wearing a head bandana with the phrase "Show Me Your Booty". I hope you enjoyed your birthday Lisa.

I have been to this show three times already and it still amazes me how I can be suprised and enjoy it every single time. If I ever go back again, I am sure that I would be even more amazed than I am now. The food were delicious, the desert was awesome, and the servers were great. Even moreso, the actual show itself was amazing. Right from the very start, there were pirates running around, jumping, climbing, doing stunts that kept me watching the whole entire time. I can only imagine how much time and effort has been to make this show operate. The actors and actresses sang fantastically. It was romantic, adventurous, exciting; just like what I expected a pirates show would be. And seeing my little cousin go up the stage was an experience I will never forget. The sight of him with the other children laughing onstage with the pirate captain was too adorable. If I had to complain about anything, it would be of the salad that was already on the tables when we came in. I didn't approve of it at all. I would rather that the salads were handed to us after we had already sat. Other than that, I would definitely recommend this attraction to anyone who happens to be passing by the Anaheim Area.

Pros: The stunts were great and the food were awesome.

Cons: The parking were a little cramped, and the salad should not be on the table before we sit down.

I've been to Medieval Times and the Wild West show that was at this location previously, but never have I had to endure something so terrible as the Pirates Dinner Adventure.

First, it costs around $50/person, and they expect every adult to tip $5 on top of that. To start, you enter a room filled with people, where you can barely move, and push your way around to the multiple appetizer stations. If you want a drink with your appetizer, be prepared to put out another $2.50/soda, or more if you want alcohol. If this sounds bad, you should know that this was the highlight of the evening.

When you enter the arena for dinner, the salads are already sitting on the table, looking dry (not to mention, all the people who've passed by and breathed/coughed/sneezed over them.) They tasted just like they looked. Dinner was chicken and shrimp or chicken and beef. My chicken was dry, and the leg was nothing but skin and bones. The beef was fatty and after one bite, I pushed it to the side of the plate. The shrimp was edible, and the rice and potatoes were okay. However, you only get one rationed plate, and it wasn't nearly enough to fill me. They bring pitchers of soda, which were all completely flat, and good luck finding your waitress to ask for another glass of beer or wine. Desert was an apple cobbler, and aside from being a little mushy, was enough to sustain me until I could stop by McDonalds on the way home.

The show was going on during dinner, keeping the lights down so you couldn't see what you were eating (probably better that way.) It was only 90 minutes long, but it felt like 8 hours. There was a lot of talk about killing and death, which I thought was weird with so many kids in the audience. The competitions were lame, and the crowd participation didn't seem to be well-planned, as everything felt like madness and commotion. It all ended very abruptly, without much closure.

Don't waste your money or your time. Disneyland's around the corner!

Pros: None

Cons: Food, Show, Service

I was expecting children running around, but was surpised that was 90% adults at the 8:30 show. Good thing since I went for my bachelorette party Friday night. It was sold out so make reservations way in advance. Get there when the doors open. We arrived a little late and it was super packed.
Show was very crowd interactive. Some of us lost our voices. Lot's of corrigraphed moves and singing. Food was not bad. Chicken was yummy and I heard the beef was good.
After the show they opened the bars up the charecters came out for pics.
I would definently reccomend it for groups.

We (ages 9,11, and 36) just came back from this show/dinner combo, VERY COOL indeed. this is a cool place for first timers in california or visitors.

PROS: VERY INTERACTIVE, cool effects, works with kids
CONS: HIGH prices on gifts, THE DINNER (so-so), SLOW service

For father's day we all went here for something different. Granted it was getting the family out and about to do something together, but seeing as the kids are 25,21 and 19 we may not have been the target market. They really involve you in the show. The acrobatics are amazing and they have some good effects. Little kids were going crazy. The food is Medieval times style and you get two beverages. Its a little pricey but it is for the show. Cool thing to do for a change and I would definitley take kids.

The Pirates Dinner Adventure in Buena Park is much like its knightly counterpart (Medieval Times). We think the latter is a little bit classier, but ...
