Are you hungry? Do you feel like eating at a hole in the wall? What?...Only $10 left in your wallet? Do you like watching people cook in front of you?

If you answer yes to any of the three questions, then be prepared to be stuffed at Cordon Bleu.

It's a small hole in the wall on California... easy to miss if you're looking for it because of the theatre next door that is stealing all their thunder! Seating here is simple...bar stools probably about 10 of them and two tables in the back...get here at the wrong time and you'll end up watching people devour their food through their large windows.

It's simple food....grilled 5 spice chicken, thinly sliced grilled meat, an oversized fried imperial, some cole slaw, rice, and a thick pork gravy sauce poured over it all! That's the #5 I order.....it gives you a taste of everything.....if you're going to eat... why not have it all? =) Oh and be prepared to go into a food coma after you eat here!

Pros: Great tasting food for the money

Cons: Often very busy place with little seating best for take out

After passing it by many many times and reading all the raving reviews, I finally decided to give it a try myself. And Cordon Bleu did NOT disappoint! Some of the reviews have commented about the poor or slow service -- but c'mon, given

Pros: Food, Price, Value

Cons: Ambience (nothing wrong with a hole in the wall, but it's better as a to-go)

.

My friends and I have been going here weekly for a while now. The service isn't the most prompt but the food is unmatched. Be prepared for a little bit of a wait - but it is definitely worth it. I take everyone here.

Don't be afraid if you've never tried it, the food here is great and you won't even notice that you've opened your wallet. I love stepping in here and catching a film at the Lumiere.\r

Pros: Inexpensive, tasty, fast

Cons: smokey, not the place to take a trend-loving diner

This is a tiny, simple restaurant with very large, flavorful portions and is extremely reasonable as a bonus. Its location is just off Polk street in Nob Hill but it feels like one of those developing nations road side grills everywhere in South East Asia. The five spice chicken is the best know of the offerings, but there are at least five combination plates with some combination of the chicken, skewers and fried imperial role plus a hearty serving of rice covered in a divine meat gravy sause+ a small salad. Two adults can be quite satisfied to split one of these combo plates and still get out with under ten dollar spend including tip.

PROS: food and price
CONS: could appear more clean

I like this place because of the simplicity of everything - the menu, the decor. The food has a home cooked feel and is great cheap comfort food. I personally like eating in and watching the food being cooked but lots of people do take-out
