Park Centre Animal Hospital is a great place.

by Sunny S.

I have taken all my dogs to this clinic for many years. I have always found the front staff techs, and the doctors compassionate and available. Sometimes it seems to be expensive, yet the care is worth it. I have been to many vets before this facility, and I am very happy here.

Outstanding

by Charles G.

We have been client's at Park Center for many years and with few exceptions find the medical and administrative staff outstanding. A little pricey at times but the care and consideration given our animals has been excellent. Some of the critical reviews I have read are Nuts. One, (anonymous, of course) seems from someone with Fecalretinitis (so full of crap that they have a nasty outlook on everything). We have tried other Vet services in Alameda as well as the Oakland SPCA and found them consistently inferior to Park Center.

GREAT PLACE

by Ellen L.

I am amazed at some of the negative comments written here. I took my dog Jamie to Park Centre until she was put down and took my cat Cookie there until moving to Arizona in 2007.
Both my animals were very well taken care of every time .
I would board Jamie there when necessary and had absolutely no problems!
The vet techs and doctors are great.
I would definitely recommend Park Centre !

Great vet...Highly recommend them!

by Michael H.

I have been taking my puppy and now cat to the doctors here and I have been absolutely impressed by their skill and caring for the animals!

I see some negative reviews and I am truly shocked by them. I have never had a negative experience...quite the contrary. It just shows how a small group of people, perhaps one tenth of one percent of their customer base, can cause a great business to look disreputable.

My cat is not feeling well and they made an appointment for us within the hour! If that's not a caring animal hospital, I don't know what is. Also, the examinations are more thorough than those I receive from my own internist.

If you are looking for a caring vet and live in Alameda, please call them...I strongly recommend them.

We'll see what they say....

by Clare C.

Well I have had no issues with them - up to today (Christmas Day). I begged for them to see my Boston Terrier one weekend 3 weeks ago after it had ripped it's eyelid open on an off leash walk near Washinton Park. They gratefully did (saving me $$ from going to an emergency vets). However after having the stitches out 2 days ago (2 weeks after the incident), the wound busted open today and we are now back to square one.

I rushed him to the emergency care in San Leandro on Washington, and they advised I should go back there tomorrow with my dog and demand they redo the surgery and sutures at no extra cost.

That said if they don't I will be shelling out close another $1000 at the ER (as I won't have them do it again AND pay twice) on top of the previous $600 surgery that was undertaken at Park Centre.

Will keep you posted.

Clare (and Parker) on this semi-merry Christmas Day

If I could I would choose 0 STAR

Going to Park Centre Animal Hospital is like going to Costco, you can't walk out without spending at least $100! In two years time I spent over $7000.00 dollars there, until I finally realized that I was being drained and decided to look for a second opinion.

In that time Park Centre misdiagnosed my dog; convinced me that I may need to euthanize him [cause of "mystery" illness was unknown and a $1500 MRI was suggested to rule out what would certainly necessitate a human ending for my pet]. When he developed an infection in his nail; which was trimmed so low that the infection migrated to his bone, I was bringing him in for biweekly bandage changes to treat the infection. Which of course, I was charged $35 dollars for each time, on top of which was added an office visit and whatever other treatment was rendered. After hundreds of $$$ and countless visits, I was told that his toe would need to be amputated at an estimated cost of $1800.00. Funny enough this was the same estimated cost they had provided to me when he needed to have a fatty Lipoma needed to be removed from his hind leg, "supposedly a very complicated procedure" involving a Micro surgeon. That brings me to another point; of the three Vets on staff, none can perform a complex, let alone a simple, surgical procedure - they bring in Surgeons from Bay Area Vets in San Leandro.

I finally had enough and found a new Vet who is an angel, treats animals not people and my now 13 year old dog has never been better. Sadly, after 6 weeks of being mistreated, he did have to lose a toe, but you would never know it. The surgery cost was $350 and the two follow up appointments, were, would you believe - INCLUDED!

Happily, he is comfortably living his sunset years without any issue whatsoever.

Lastly, I was never allowed to accompany my pet to the treatment room as if they are surgeons performing Cardiac Surgery, these Vets are full of themselves, detached from their charges - WHICH ARE PETS - and are too busy adding funds to their new State of the Art Vet Clinic to realize when they have gone too far! I would very strongly urge anyone to stay away from Park Centre Animal Hospital.

Unworthy

by Anonymous

I took my pet in for examination. These vets just pill up the bill unnecessary. Also, the receptionist was very condenscending and money-oriented. They exaggerate the problem when in reality, there is no problem at all. You are better off going to a local humane society who truly cares about the animal without thinning your wallet. Last, the vet broke her promise. She said she will call to tell us the specific requirement of a daily nutrition dosage. Since she will not make a profit (or maybe she suspected that we are not as naive as she thought we were), she did not call. Trustworthy? Save your pet, your wallet, and your confidence in the vet service and go elsewhere.

Money is not all that counts

by Karen G.

I have been taking my cats to Park Centre Animal Hospital ever since the pet emergency hospital recommended it. I have been extremely satisfied. I have received phone calls from the doctors as late as 9 PM. and I never feel rushed to get off the phone or get out of the office. I do not know if I may be paying more than at other offices, but where my girls are concerned all that matters is that they are healthy. I also have pet insurance with which I am very satisfied.

Bring A Big Bag Of Money

by Anonymous

This is the most expensive vet care ANYWHERE. They will order a full blood panel just to take the lead off your dog. They are about to build a new facility. Guess who is going to pay for it? YOU ARE and dearly. Call around and get a quote on the procedure or care your pet may need. You will be amazed at the difference in prices.

Great Place

by Nancy T. | insider Insider | Rank: 28,856

I have taken my dogs here for several years. The veterinarians have always taken the time to answer all of my questions, and really seem to care about me and my dogs. I have been to other vets where I felt like I was being rushed in and out, and no one really bothered to understand my concerns.

The place is very clean and all of the staff are very friendly. I recommend Park Centre to all of my friends with animals. They are open on Saturday and Sunday which is great since I work in the City, and it is hard for me to go during the week.

PROS: Hours, professionalism, concern for animals
CONS: none

took mi dog

by tim t. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 5,257

I took my dog to Park Centre Animal Hospital because
he needed to get a check up. He was not feeling to good so i thought i needed to take him to some professional help. They said my dog needed some shot to cure a infection that was bothering him. It did the trick and the vet was really good but it cost me a lot of money! Wouldn't recommend such a expensive place.

Avoid this one

by Jackie A.

I took my dog in with an minor infection of a mammary gland, no swelling, and general malaise. Three female vets, one was young and new. She said my dog needed a biopsy to send to the pathologist. $600 visit. When she called me she said the biopsy was inconclusive, that I needed to bring my dog in for x-rays. I asked what is inconclusive and she told me the pathologist couldn't tell if he saw hyperplasia or dysplasia. I'm a healthcare analyst. I don't bullshit easily. There is always hyperplasia and dysplasia around any infection. But that's not neoplasia (cancer). On the first visit she'd mentioned the "new xray machine" . I told her there was nothing that an x-ray machine would see. And then I called my cousin to ask about his vet. This clinic has a bad reputation among people I speak to. My cousin's vet was in Oakland. He diagnosed, did surgery and treated the infection for about 500-. Nice guy too. See Woodminster Vet in Oakland.
