WOW! What else can I say. Clean restaurant, great service, and the Seabass was scrumptious! Definitely my favorite restaurant.

The salad situation described in the above reviews is a scam, I know personally. The servers are told to, for lack of a better word "sneak" them in on you. They are sales people and get certain shifts according to selling. They do not treat their employees very well as upper management has changed hands to some clown who came from kings fish house. Well if you want to change Opah into king's, you are going in the right direction. It has been noticably slower but they do have the "only place around" going for them. I wish I had the money to buy this place and give it what it needs. Which is, a do whatever the customer wants attitude. They have mediocre food and an unhappy staff which stems from the pressure of the clown running the place, and he is never there. One more note, rancho santa margerita shup its doors and rumor is that tustin is next, well opah better pull their heads out or more people will just go elsewhere and it will be a vacant building.

I guess for being the only restaurant in Aliso Viejo it's nice but I can get more value for my dollar going to Sizzler. My friends in Aliso swear by this place. I tried it out thinking my friends can't be that dumb or tasteless. Apparently, I was wrong. The food is comparable to Elephant Bar or a good Cheesecake Factory. Next time i'm in O.C. I'm going to stick to Newport or Laguna for dining.

I went to this restaurant with 10 of my friends tonight. When I ordered the filet mignon, the waiter said, "Would you like house or caesar?" I'm not a big salad fan, as it's cold and it's rabbit food to me, but obligingly, I said, "Caesar, please." When the bill came, the restaurant had charged all 10 mothers $8 each for their salads. I was incredulous, and told the waiter that he did not make it clear that there was an extra charge for salads. His response: "I'll get the manager." Interesting response. He did NOT say, for example, "No, I said, 'Would you like to ADD a salad, or would you like a salad WITH that?" No - he got his sleazy manager to come over. Predictably, the manager said, "Did you look at the menu?" As if to say, "If you read the entire menu, you would have seen that the salads were separate." So I said, "I don't ever look at the salad menu, as I don't eat rabbit food at restaurants, since I can very well make them at home myself." It was not my burden to understand that the salads were extra, but they obviously have this scam down pat at Opah. I hesitated to go to a restaurant in Aliso Viejo, as there are way classier places to go right down the street in Laguna Beach - but alas, it was not my choice to have our dinner there. Rest assured, I will never go to Opah's again - and I will never recommend anyone else to go there, either. Dishonest, and mediocre food.

10 girlfriends and I went to this place for our annual holiday get-together. When the women on our side of the table ordered our entrees, including filet mignon, pasta, and fish, the waiter responded, "Would you like house or Caesar salad?" Surprised that a salad came with the entree, I responded, "Caesar, please." I don't normally order salads at restaurants, as I don't like to pay for cold food that I can make at home. When the food arrived, the waiter had charged us all $8 each per salad. Incredulous, I told the waiter, "None of the women on this side of the table had any idea that these weren't part of the meal." His response: "I'll get the manager." Interesting. Instead of saying, "I'm sorry, I believe I said, 'Would you like to ADD a salad" - he says, "Let me get the manager." Let me preface all of this by saying that this waiter had spent at least 15 minutes of his time taking numerous photos of our table, insisting on different poses and taking oodles of time flirting with mothers, mostly in their late thirties and forties. I realized immediately that this was all to disguise his "padding" the bill. The manager came over and heard my objection. His response: "Did you read the menu?' As if to say, "If you had read the salad section of the menu, you would have seen that we charge for salads." I, of course, no dummy, say, "That's nice. I don't EVER read the salad section - that's not what I'm here for. I did not order a salad - the waiter offered me one. I don't like the sneakiness of it, and I'm not paying for my salad." Instead of apologizing for the miscommunication, and eating the $2 cost of the whole table's salads, the manager actually argued with me.

I couldn't remember why I insisted on ONLY going to restaurants in Laguna Beach, but now I remember. Laguna Beach restaurants don't treat their customers like idiots. DO NOT GO TO OPHAH'S! They are sneaky, dishonest, and the food is mediocre.

Yet another restaurant with a martini bar, bistro atmosphere (noisy), and overpriced meals. My wife dragged me to it so that I could have dinner while listening to some clown tell his life story to someone on his cell phone.

The last review, dose not have it right. they should stay closer to Lesiure World. This place is for high end classy no rush customers. yes its busy with little standing room. So if your not in any rush to eat and enjoy the potential of meeting new friends, and your age range is 35-60 this is a great after work place to meet and enjoy good food. So if the price is a bit high for you drive by and the rest of us will wave to you as you go though del taco.

Fantastic, Great food , I recommend strongly the Opah entree. Great presentation , good quality, and decent price. You may want to try the chocalate rimmed martini , "Expesso Martini". as your finale . Also look for James a waiter at Opah , Gauranteed great service .

Love the stylish decor and great drinks and martinis. The food is pretty average to above-average and is, as many other reviewers have stated, somewhat overpriced. But if you're looking for a hip spot to grab a drink with friends in South OC, this is definitely a great spot.

I don't want to totally skewer this place--they are certainly trying for a commendable feel to their eatery--but it seems like they might be trying too hard to make the food pretty while neglecting the taste aspect. Also, the presentation factor, with all the "exotic" ingredients and everything...every dish is worth--at most--about 2/3 of the price that they charge you for it. Oh, and don't be fooled by the sweet potato chips--they REALLY suck. If you don't mind overpaying--and I know that most people in Orange County are perfectly happy overpaying for anything and everything--the tuna and ahi are excellent (actually, the less something is cooked at Opah, the more you will enjoy it--that, I guarantee), and the seafood in general is great. Try Opah at least once to see if it is your kind of thing.

Pros: decent food, decent location, decent concept

Cons: $-$$ food, $$$ price., horrendous service, not a great value

.

I would recommend this place over Sutra times 10! It is quite a busy, fun, noisy place where you can easily find people to talk to...and the location gets rid of the posers, most of the people are real and fun. The food is great, and the drinks are amazing. The staff treats you well. The only downsides are that they do crowd the tables together, it is hard to find close parking, sometimes the guys can get gross, and if you're into a quiet dinner, this is not the place to go on the weekends. I liked going there with my husband and enjoy the great food on one of the quiet nights.

Food is average.
The decoration is hip, trendy, lively and well-designed.

Here is a restaurant for fun, where you see pretty ladies eating and hanging out??
hanging out??
And guys too... eating and hanging out....

It feel like a "Hollywood" thing in a sub-urban neigherhood, where guys talking louds and acting cool for the ladies crowd.
I guess it works, as the owner is smart even to bring this ideas to this quiet area.

While Opah's food is delicious and a nice selection of mediterranean fare.....the crowd is too hard to deal with. My husband and I went the other night and had to leave before getting a table, becuase it was too crowded! The martinis are definitely an attraction, since they have such a large selection, but it's not worth it to me. A restaurant should separate the bar and dining so that two crowds can co-exist, but the bar crowd is practically on top of the diners, and doesn't lend itself for a relaxing dinner. It's a scene, so be ready.

I came in just for a glass of wine and appetizers, so I settled for the grilled artichoke (to die for!) and the New Zealand mussels in lemon, butter, garlic broth - the most gorgeous green mussels I have ever seen - and the broth was so delish for dipping hot crusty bread. Yum! Makes my mouth water just thinking about it.

PROS: Great food, great people watching
CONS: Pricey

This is a fairly new Opah's (about 2 or 3 years now). The food quality is excellent, but the prices are a little high for what you get. The portions are small (but I suppose average for this type of restaurant). The service could use some improvement, but it is satisfactory.

I love this place. This is probably Aliso Viejo's best restaurant! They serve delicious mediteranean cuisine and everything is prepared with a very nice presentation. The ambiance is trendy and modern but very relaxed at the same time, with candle's on every table and a nice patio area. They have also have great martini's and yummy desserts! Highly recommended!

Opah is an excellent mediteranean restaurant. There is always a casual, yet classy crowd here, and the service is really good. They have unbelievable seared ahi, and an awesome 'very berry martini', and serve a wonderful variety of meats and seafoods on the menu. Everything is also priced pretty reasonably, so it's a great choice for a nice evening out without breaking the bank to much!

This place is nothing special. I can cook as good or better, at home. Enormous portions don't make the food taste any better. Loads of garlic can't change a bland dish, it just makes you smelly and thirsty.
