GOOD EATS !

Everytime we get to the Elmwood my two kids want to go to Shen Hua for their Chicken Fried Rice. Although they give you enough for them to share they always get their own with the hope of bringing some home.

Although their Chicken Fried Rice is good you have to go with the Dry Fried Prawns - the sauce is out of this world.

Beyond the food the folks who work there are great. We went for food just before New Years and the main person there came over to our table and gave me a bottle of wine in thanks for going there so often. How often do you get a tip from a restaurant you go to?

A great place to eat!

This place is great! I've come here many times and always gotten great food. I even brought my grandmother here when she visited me at school. She enjoyed the food but thought the restaurant was too loud -- she's old. It's a bit more upscale than most of the other Chinese restaurants nearby, so it's a good date option.

A friend told me they have huge mojitos... have to confirm this one soon!

My mother loves this place! When my family is visiting, she always requests to go there! The atmosphere is nice, the staff are always welcoming, and the food is great! The portions are sometimes very big but worth the price. A night out with friends is always nice.

The food here is ok. It's not especially spicy or flavorful. It's definitely been made blander to reach a broader audience. Though, I must say I am really fond of the vegetarian steamed pot stickers when smothered in chili oil. I would advise against take out. They have a stern warning about this on their menu. It really is not as good when made for take out. Other Chinese restaurants can make take out just as good. Shen Hua is not one of these places. The place is pretty family friendly. Kids and parents are usually on the earlier end of dinner time, about 5:00. They're not open very late, so it's hard to say when the optimal time to go is. The architecture of the space makes the dining room very noisy even when at medium capacity. Don't go here on a date or to have a meaningful conversation. Overall, ok for weeknight dining.

The food was bland and expensive for a Chinese place. The atmosphere was nice a little noisy. Service was good and the food came out very quickly, problem was it didn?t have any flavor.

Pros: Great service

Cons: Bland Food

I love their food! If only I was closer, I would eat there a couple times a week. Being born in SF, and now living in the east bay, it is hard to find very good, authentic chinese food that is not greasy and full of SALT. My sister lives in Beijing and even thought the food was very good. They offer nightly specials and have a mix of different regional food throughout asia. The food is very fresh and crisp; never overcooked or overdone. The only negative is, that it can be noisy - not a romatic place... Just plain GOOD food.

I visited this resturant on a Friday night. It was really loud that I had to shout across the table to to speak with my company, I just gave up and quit talking after a while, as did my company. One of my friends ordered the Mediterranean Beef, and the description said it was lightly fried. Well we couldn't find the beef.. All we could find was fried breading that was very, very crunchy. Although I had the dry fried chicken and it was very good, so what you order is kind of h*t or miss. The drink prices are a little high, but not horrible. I will go back but not on a weekend and hope to have a conversation this time.

This food is unbelievably delicious! Their service is so quick, and everything has wonderful presentation and taste. They also have gigantic portions the whole family can share 2-3 entree's. They go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need (drinks, food, chopsticks, etc). It is also very family friendly. You can go there with young kids and not have a problem because it is loud inside. They have a very modern decor which is also very nice considering most Chinese food places all look the same. It does get busy for dinner, but the wait is never more than 20-30 minutes because they have such quick service. I take everyone who visits me out here to Shen Hua and they are always so shocked how yummy everything is. Go here and you WILL NOT be disappointed.

First of all, we arrived (party of 2) at 7:40pm, place wasn't super busy for a Friday nite. The hostess said our wait would be 10 minutes which was even hard to believe being that there were at least 8 open tables in our visibility.

But we waited, no biggie, for about 20 minutes and were seated. We ordered our appetizer, steamed potsickers, and told they take about 15 minutes to prepare...still ok. So where it got really bad was when 30 minutes later we had no food, no appetizer, no meal etc.

The people that were seated after us had already been served their entire meals and we had nada. We were so agrivated at that point that about 40 minutes after being seated we just left. It was so bad, they had no excuses, just didn't care. Our waiter never checked in with us to tell us it'd be a few more minutes or anything. We'll never go back. Too bad, its seemed cute and the food looked somewhat appetizing.

A family memebr took me here to celebarte a b-day. We had 12 people in our party, shared dished, had drinks, & the bill was less than $200.00. I found the food to be American Chinese, sorta like PF Changs but better quality. Loved the atmosphere! I will definitely go back when in the area again.
