We chose this company because of the torpedo fish food that you can shoot out to the fish. Once we were already on the semi-submersible we were told that the fish food was an EXTRA COST in addition to our ticket, which was already $36. I believe it was $8 for 6 torpedoes and she went on to try to sell something like 60 shots for $30. I could be off, but you get the idea that it was WAY overpriced. We boycott it on principal, which turned out to be no loss to us. There was a loud Disneyland-style movie/commercial running the entire trip, which was tacky and distracting. The guide had such a thick accent we could barely understand her. We saw two or three types of fish and seaweed. We thought we would see the coral, or something more impressive. Overall we were disappointed and we would NOT RECOMMEND this at all. Perhaps we were just spoiled by Randy and the Discovery-Cape Canyon Tour the day before.

PROS: Good for kids
CONS: Sneaky fish food cost add-on, non-English speaking guide, tacky tourist feel

On our trip to Catalina Island, we went on the semi-submersible sub tour. It's like the submarines are Disneyland, except this time you are actually seeing real fish. The ride took about 45 minutes, and we did see some beautiful fish that came right up to the windows of the boat. We fed them and watched them come close fighting for the food. The fish food is expensive for a couple of shots. If you're never gone on this tour, I'd at least do it once. After that, I'd pass. I love the island, but next time I'd like to take some other inland tours.
