My childhood friend referred me to Dr. George Georgaklis and he has been my dentist now for the past 10 years. I have been going to Dr. George from regular teeth cleaning to treating cavities, as well as perfecting my smile through the help of Invisalign, and putting the finishing touch on with teeth whitening.

No matter the procedure, Dr. George always keeps me informed as to what hes doing and why, as well as shares alternatives when applicable. As a patient I always feel informed, and even more so, I also feel involved and empowered in my treatment decision.

Im extremely afraid of needles and whenever anesthesia was necessary for treatment, I have never felt a single injection going into my gums! I dont know how Dr. George does it, but Id rather get anesthesia from Dr. George than have blood drawn anywhere.

Given the various dentists I have seen prior, and the variety of treatments I have received over the past decade I can say that Dr. George by far is the best dentist I have ever had!

From the moment I enter the practice to the time I leave I am put at ease. Every visit/treatment is very personable, the staff very courteous and friendly. I am very, very happy to have Dr. George as my dentist!

I was really embarrassed about my smile because I had big gaps between my front teeth, and my teeth were really small. My mom convinced me to get veneers and she even researched orthodontists and said Dr. Georgaklis was the person to see. Dr. Georgaklis put in my veneers, and they look beautiful and so natural. I finally laugh without covering my mouth and show my teeth when I smile. Dr. Georgaklis did such a great job that I only go to him for all my dental work now. And each time I go in, he checks on my veneers, even when I am there for a cleaning with the dental hygienist.

Dr. George and his team were really awesome in getting my teeth fixed up from a hockey-related injury. The atmosphere was very relaxed and professional - which made all my work very easy to get through. I will make sure and continue to see Dr. George for teeth cleanings, repairs, and anything else I need. Very awesome group of people over there!

I have been a patient of Dr. George's for over 5 years now. I originally went to see him after finding his office online for orthodontic treatment in a shorter amount of time. I am a working professional and could not wear braces for 2 or more years like other offices had told me. I was so relieved to find Dr. George. He straightened my teeth in 8 months and he is able to take care of my other dental work as well. I love the woman that cleans my teeth and his office staff is great too. I highly recommend this office!!

I met a woman at the Nordstrom make up counter at UTC who had the most beautiful smile I had ever seen. She refered me to Dr. Georgaklis and I drive to San Diego to get my dental work done. Dr. George does amazing work my veneers look so natural and I always get comments on how great my smile is. I have been seeing him for 15 years and I look forward to my cleanings! He uses the best products, latest equipment and his staff is always great to me!!!

I went for a consultation for orthodontics. I had been told on the phone that the consultation was no charge. I had orthodontia and cosmetic veneers done previously by a different dentist, but things have shifted and I wanted an estimate on orthodontia to put my bite back where it should be.

After I was shown into an office, an assistant gave me a notebook with photos of "celebrities" the doctor has worked on: TV newscasters, Miss America from long ago, a previous Ms. Fitness winner, etc... "Dr. George" entered the room, looked at me and asked me when I had the current work done on my teeth and I said 1990. He said, "Let's see. What was I doing in 1990?" "Oh! I was at the Miss America pageant." I explained why I was there and his eyes seemed to light up. He asked if I would like my veneers done again. (I already knew this would cost upwards of $35K ) and I simply said - "It would be nice, but it would be quite expensive." He looked disappointed and sighed and said with a demeaning tone, "Oh, that's a shame, because I could have fixed your bite with veneers -- but you can't afford it!" I hadn't said I couldn't afford it - I had simply said I thought it would be expensive.

He gave me another option to try to remedy the bite - since my teeth were "already far from perfect" anyway. It seemed that every time he was starting to give me some real advice or an opinion based on my actual case - he would stop himself, as if he didn't want to give information for free.

When I went to the front, I was told by his administrative person that it would be $50 for the visit. I was confused and said I had thought the orthodontic consultation was free. She said it was, but that I had a cosmetic consultation which was $50. I said that we hadn't discussed veneers or any other cosmetic work and had only discussed my bite. "Dr. George" seemed to have overheard this and appeared and mumbled something to her. I was asked if I could have x-rays now - because if I was going to come to a future appointment to adjust my bite, they would be needed. I let them know that I already had an appointment at my regular dentist and would be happy to have them send them over. He mumbled something about that not being practical.

I realize now that I should have asked how much the x-rays would be - and/or simply left at that point. They just did the standard bite-wing x-rays, which he gave me a copy of for my dentist (which didn't make sense to me, as he had told me I couldn't have done the reverse - bringing my dentist's x-rays to him).

Back in the administrative chair again, I was told the charge was $175. I said, "for x-rays??" They said - it included the $50 consultation, which I explained again was supposed to be free, as it was only about orthodontia. They removed that and said the charge would be $125 - which I feel is truly outrageous for simple dental x-rays that I didn't even need. I did take them to my regular dentist who did not find them useful and did a complete set of full mouth x-rays at no charge.

"Dr. George" may be a fine dentist. I do not know because I did not make another appointment with him. I found his attitude to be rather arrogant and impersonal and I did not like having to argue with the staff about charges for a consultation that I was told in advance was free or to be overcharged for standard dental x-rays.

UPDATE - I recently discovered that an employee of Dr. "George" sent a message to me (2+ years after my negative experience at their office) offering me a free service if I would consider 'helping' them by removing my original review.

Had this offer been to attempt to rectify what I personally experienced during my one office visit, I may have at least gone in to give them a chance to rectify things. And, if my 2nd experience was indeed positive I would have kept my first negative review but updated it with another honest review of what would have hopefully been a positive experience. Instead, their 'offer' read far more like an attempt to remove negative reviews to save their reputation with others instead of a sincere attempt to rectify what happened with a former potential patient - me!

Since posting my previous review others have written me (one as recently as 2 months ago) with similar disappointing experiences at this office.

They wrote that they had seen the review over a year ago and were perplexed as to how it had remained posted (hence, the real reason for their ??offer?? as opposed to just wanting to rectify what happened). They also wrote that their customer service has improved and maybe it has. I'm sure that if the service has indeed improved they will begin receiving much more positive reviews and my negative experience will fade into the background.

I am just giving an honest account of my one experience and now this honest impression of their reply. If we're not going to tell it like it is, why bother spending the time?
