Good Food, Cheap prices

by Elayna N. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 1,029

Jamillah Garden has a wide selection of foods available. It has very unique Chinese food that I often crave. The chinese green onion pancake is really good here! I recommend dipping it in some soy sauce and vinegar. The chicken and snow peas is delicious. It is very tasty and has lots of sauce. If you are looking for more Shanghai style Chinese food, then this is definitely the place to go. The waitress is very friendly and helpful. The restaurant itself is also fairly nice. Check this place out!

The best thing about San Diego

by Angelica S.

You won't ever be satisfied with any other local Chinese restaurant after you've tried Jamillah. Not only is the food at this unique Chinese-Islamic restaurant (which basically means it's a Chinese restaurant that uses halal meat, substitutes pork for lamb and has a prayer room in the back) top-notch and affordable, but the staff will make you feel like family. They'll make the extra effort to ensure you get the best possible dining experience every time--and I'm a tough customer. When I asked them to make all of my food with minimal oil because I was trying to lose weight for my wedding, I knew I was being a brat and didn't really think I would be able to get what I wanted, but they obliged with a smile. When I ate in, they would serve me dessert (a delicious, warm pumpkin custard) free of charge, and whenever I ordered takeout Tracy (the sweetest waitress you'll ever meet) would throw in a cup of my favorite pickles for free.
I loved every single dish I tried (and I've tried quite a few since I went to Jamillah every chance I got) but my favorite dishes were their special freshly baked soft bread (which came either plain or stuffed with green onions or sweet red beans), the basil eggplant, the honey walnut shrimp, the orange chicken and orange beef (so much better than Panda's!), and above all the homemade soft noodles--THE BEST noodles anywhere in America!! Please help support all my friends at this wonderful local restaurant.

PROS: Delicious, authentic Chinese food, excellent service, clean, pretty decor
CONS: They're not in Honolulu or Tokyo...

New Shanghai

by Susan K. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 11,614

Decent Chinese food. They do have some good kung pao that's actually spicy. It's not the best, but there aren't very many places in San Diego that are even as good as this place. I would recommend for some average tasting Chinese when you're craving it. Authentic, not like Panda Express.
