Thanks Dr. Fossett for your exceptional expertise and hard work with the root canal and preparation for my new bridge. I thought maybe it just was a stroke of bad luck, until I read all the reviews here! This dentist is a joke and should be reported to the Better Business Bureau. I went to get a cleaning when they were located at in Hillcrest doing business as Mercy Dental Group. I had just paid over $1,200.00 through a different dentist, who did a wonderful job, yet this dentist told me I had to have it all redone, and quoted me $2,400.00! I laughed and vowed to never go back.

Then, come to my surprise, they had arbitrarily without my knowledge or consent or approval, opened up a fraudulent credit card account through Care Credit with a charge of $100.00 that was not mine! Well, after 3 weeks of trying to get resolution from the dingbat assistants, I finally had them credit the charge card that I never opened. Now I'm stuck with this card, showing on my credit report as a revolving loan with a limit of $2,000.00

Then, after all that, they have the NERVE to harass me everyday, sometimes 2 or 3 times a day, calling from various phone numbers, bugging and hounding me that I'm due for a cleaning, and that if I come in that I will get 10 or 20% off of my bill! I didn't reply thinking they would lay off - but no! That just made them even more aggressive! Finally, the dentist himself left me a long winded guilt trip on my voice mail threatening me that he is going to take me off of his call list because of all of their failed attempts!

I have never had a dentist experience like this in my life! Between lying to you about expensive procedures that must be done but really don't, to opening up unauthorized credit cards in your name with fraudulent charges, and to harassing you with telemarketing sales calls 3 times a day, I say this doc is a quack and should be put out of business!

Don't go there. There are a thousand other dentists that deserve your business!
Good luck,

I have had a terrible experience with them. Let me tell you.

1. When I visited them I just wanted a regular teeth cleaning, but they recommend deep cleaning in an very aggresive way. I feel uncomfortable but still said yes after they promised me that my insurance would cover it. But it did not and they knew it! They lied just to get more money into the pockets.

2. Then they sent me the bill which is not covered by insurence on May 26. And on May 31 a credit card was applied (and the balance was transferred) WITHOUT my knowledge by using the info. I filled in as their patient!! Could you believe that? If you do not pay your balance in 5 days (Memorial holiday included!), your dentist will apply a credit card for you using you SSN, DOB etc. I checked everything they gave me and I signed and there is no mention on that!! What else they won't do with your info.?!

3. I was totally frustrated and asked talking to the owner of the dental office. He did not show up till the third time I visited the office. I was told that the credit card fraud thing was done by his old office assistant w/o his knowleage. Lier! Why did a salary-based assiant do that if she was not told to? The owner was totally rude and did NOT apologize during the whole conversation! He kept saying it was not his fault at all! And he almost tried to beat me up. (He waved his arms but did not really hit me. I would call 911 if he did.)

So, in conclusion, if you did not want your personal info, in risk and if you do not want to be treated like trash. AVOID them!! With thousands other good ones in San Diego, why risk?!

As a 2 yr patient of Windandsea dental I had over $2000 worth of dental work done there (root scaling/deep cleaning, and several crown or inlay replacements). However, Prior to being called Windandsea dental they were called Mercy Dental ,,and they accepted my Delta Dental insurance. Upon the new name change in '06, they assured verbally & in written form that they would still accept my insurance, However, after doing extensive dental work on me & my wife,,,we later find out our Insurance does not honor Windansea,..and we are being double billed. One day I paid them
over $2000 by check for current dental work.. and later we find out
that was not 'enough'...since the insurance did not kick in their
expected % amount.

Now that is frauding the general public of customers by saying they
accept all insurance but failing to do so...in leu of possibly losing
new customers...(which was obviously the case).

That's gets my 'beef' if you know what I mean. Other than that they
fail to send 'mailout' reminders of upcoming appointments (even a
post card with that they had me sign as a reminder notice .,,got lost
in the mail and never made it me). In fact, I dont believe it was ever mailed.
One thing I do like is that all employees are Hispanic,,..so that's cool in my book....since I am all for minority small business ownership. I would not be griping if the the Insurance "issue" was
not a factor.

This place is really great. I was new in town and was referred here by a co-worker. They are extremely friendly and very good at what they do. The office is located right by the ocean in La Jolla, so it's not a bad place to hang out after your appointment either. I definitely recommend Windansea Dental.
