I have gone here to pick up cakes for my work parties because even in Palo Alto they heard that these are great cakes. And they do have the biggest Tortas I've ever seen. You do need to be aware that they don't speak english though. Both times that I have gone in the morning they have had to go in the back to get someone to help me.

They serve the best tortas in town. Even though most prefer the milensa tortas, I just stick to carne asada. You'll also have to try the tre leches and pan dulce.

Mexico bakery simply makes the best tortas. If you've never had tortas, this is definitely not the place to start, you will go through disappointment after disappointment. I'm a fan of the torta milanesa but from what I've heard everything here is pretty great. Unlike a lot of other bakeries, Mexico bakery is extremely spacious, very clean, has seating space to dine-in, and serves a huge selection of bread. I would highly suggest Mexico Bakery for a quick and satisfying lunch.

The staff is delightfully upbeat and friendly here. Every time you step through the door, whether you are a new customer or a regular, they respond as if you are a long lost relative. You are greeted with smiles and salutations, "Hola amigo! Que tal! Como estas, amigo?" are just a few examples. Just tell a friendly worker what you want and he/she will snap it up right away. Or, you can ask them for advice on what is popular or what is their personal favorite. I personally have a thing for the 'pan de leche.'
