I too was a long-time customer of "Tawa's," in Little Tokyo, that is now closed. I was overjoyed when I learned that Anna is now working at Tokyo Spa. The facility is immaculate and the sauna, always good and hot! Moreover, I've been a client of Anna's for ten years and have had many other shiatsu massages. No one, and I mean no one, even comes close to her intuitive ability. I highly recommend Anna and Tokyo Spa.

I used to go to Tawa's Spa until the place closed down because of the unfortunate passing of the owner.
Tokyo Spa is quaint. The environment is relaxing and quiet with clean hot tubs and saunas. Very Japanese-like style. Everyone there is polite.
I have been there a couple of times and tried different masseuses each time.

If you want the best shiatsu, I would recommend Jenny.
Her hands are magical! Once she pressed down on me, I automatically can feel her working on my areas that were most tense and I didn't even tell her! She had immensely good technique and guided my breathing throughout the session. After an hour with her my whole body felt relaxed and rejuvenated.

We talked and I find out that not many people know about her because she's new at that spa and people who usually choose her were her former and present regulars and by word of mouth. She worked at Tawa's for 25 years until it closed! How I never had her massage me, I don't know- but I'm glad I found her now. If you like her spread the word!

Pros: For best Shiatsu, ask for Jenny. Sauna is great.

Tight from the drive over, in monsoon conditions, the masseuse Jenny immediately brought me into a state of deep relaxation...kinesthetically supporting me in breathing through every part of the body, all the way through the acupressure meridians, with loving awareness. Beautiful clean jacuzzi, not too hot. Sauna also excellent. Wednesday is Ladies' Day, so I received a discount as well. Amazing.

Pros: best shiatsu ever

Here's the deal. I have always had a traditional swedish massage and what's not to like? Hot oil or lotion being applied lovingly to your back and limbs. Lovely right? Yes, until the horrific sight of your post massage hair and smeared mascara in the mirror. But then my friend Ann turned me on to Tokyo Spa, a little slice of heaven. This is Shiatsu, a deep tissue, pressure point massage. No oil, very little skin on skin contact, but the result is a deeply relaxing, chakra aligning, meditative experience that will change the way you look at traditional swedish massage. Why pay $85-$150 to be politely oiled up when you can pay $65 and feel like you've been medically realigned with the universe. I go into such a deeply relaxed state that I float somewhere between a dream land and sleep. I feel my pulse flow easier and my breathing steady after a trip to Tokyo Spa. I personally love Yoko but my friends love Kazu. And why not top off your experience with some shabu shabu at the Shabu House in Tokyo Village. Ahhhh a perfect international escape without the annoying airport and the hoity toityness of Burke Williams.

Pros: Yoko is a goddess!

Cons: Sometimes the jacuzzi is not hot enough.
