Pros: fairy tail land

Cons: was just a long drive for a 5 min walk through a zoo!!!

We come to the Sacramento Zoo all the time. The price is decent at about $10 for an adult. If you haven't been here in a while, it might be time to try again. The old cement prison-house-looking animal internment camp has been upgraded from an Abu Grhaib to almost as nice as Guantanamo Bay.

This is not a sprawling estate, particularly when compared to the other local options like Oakland and San Francisco, but the size makes for a a very one-on-one experience with the animals, their handlers, and the occasional groundskeeper.

Be sure to check out the primate area and the reptile area. Best two spots of the whole place.

Oh, the company that they brought in to do the funnel cake sales used an animal-base to cook the food so don't buy the funnel cake if you don;t eat meat because it tastes like a sugar-coated cheeseburger (I just know that someone reading this will make a fortune selling my sugerburger idea to American fast food executives in silk suits stretched tight over cellulose infused backskin *shudder*).

Pros: Great for Kids, good prices

Cons: food court

I was disappointed to see that the cheetah and the hippo have not been replaced as well as the red panda that have passed away recently. I feel like the zoo is rather small and cramped short of the giraffe exhibit. My kids really enjoy the reptile exhibit and it is well laid out to promote easy entry and exit for alot of people all at once. I have been to better zoos but it is still a nice learning experience for children and animal lovers like myself to visit.

The Sacramento Zoo is a fun place, and has a lot to recommend it, but true zoo-philes might find that this zoo is not the top notch zoo they might expect. However, it's clean, and features a variety of interesting animals. Of particular note are the reptile house and the red pandas. Many of the habitats have been revamped in recent years and that makes the zoo a better place. Could use more hands-on activities for kids and more things that might want a visitor want to linger.

The Sacramento Zoo is a great place to spend the weekend when you have nothing else better to do. They have a lot of animals, it will definitely keep anyone entertained for hours!
My siblings love the excellent reptile houses, especially the three toed sloth.
Lots of parking and admision is very affordble.
The one event they have yearly that we never miss is the Ice Cream Safari, All you can eat Ice Cream and Soda!

My kids love going to the Sacramento Zoo. Its not the biggest or the best zoo I've ever been too but its a great place to take the kids. Its small so we can take our time and still see everything within a few hours.

This isn't as big of some other bay area zoos, but that's actually sort of nice. You can see everything in a few hours. For us it's a good place to take our toddler, because the bigger places wear her out. Even though she's little, she can also see everything just fine. They also have a few climbing area for kids to blow off steam. There is a mixture of old concrete exibits, and newer modern ones. The newer ones, like for the red panda, are increadable. If you like zoos, this is a fun visit.

The Sacramento Zoo is a fabulous place to take the family anytime!! Throughout the year, they offer different events as for the zoo, such as Ice Cream at the Zoo, or Music in the Zoo. They are constantly working to improve the animals' habitats, and the staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. There is a large collection of critters here.....giraffes, hippos, zebras, red pandas, snow leopards - the works!! Come enjoy a family friendly day at the zoo!! Lots of shade here too.

The Sacramento Zoo has always been one of my favorites. I can remember going there as a child and know I take my child there. It is a great place to go and relax, have fun and explore. They have picnic areas where you can sit and relax so you can spend the whole day there.

This is a fairly good size zoo located at the corner of Sutterville Road and Land Park Drive. You wont find all the animals here that you would find at a larger zoo but the kids will enjoy it. Across from the zoo is Fairytale Town which the kids will also enjoy.
Some people may think it is expensive but if you dont buy anything from the gift shop and look for deals, it isnt so bad.

Our family loves to go to the zoo and experience the animals. I have been disappointed in the Sacramento Zoo. This last time we went we saw NO cats at all, no hippo, and very few animals were out. The cost is about the same as other zoo's but not worth it. I would drive to San Francisco to go the their zoo.

PROS:
CONS: Hardly any animals are out!

This is our favorite pastime; we have a family membership and get our moneys worth. If your family is planning on gonig to the Zoo at least twice a year the family membership is well worth the fee.

Members receive the Zoo's newsletter in the mail and are on the know of what is happening at the zoo. And a lot happens at the zoo. Check it out -- it's an adventure watching kids get so excited over all the activities. Fun, Fun.

PROS: Fun
CONS: Closes at 4:00 PM

Who doesn't love to go see animals that we don't normally see on a daily basis. This zoo gives you the feeling of being up close with some of your favorite animals.
Stop by the gift shop for some postcards to mail to your friends. Or the snack shop for a great ice cream.

PROS: Fun
CONS: The shops are too expensive

The animals are pretty cool, but my heart got in the way of thinking about all of the animals trapped in cages on display for our amusement (spelling?). If i remember right, the line was pretty big when we got there. And we parked pretty far away

This zoo is just big enough that you're not exhausted when you've seen everything. It's not as big as the SF Zoo but it's not as crowded and very small and intimate. Plus the price of ticket is so cheap it's definitely a good value and you can support your animal friends too! You seen the entire place in about an 1 1/2 hours. They have giraffes, red pandas, hippos, zebras, gorilla, chimps, tigers, and more!
