Had dinner off the menu. Excellent! I ordered things spicy and it actually was. My dinner partner actually had trouble eating it. The Vindaloo and the Bhindi were fabulous!

The buffet was good for lunch. Not as spicy as I like it but it's a buffet. Only ate there once. Perhaps a menu ordered meals would be better. But it was certainly a pleasant meal.

Good service.

This restaraunt owner runs a very neat scam. At the bottom of the menu is a small notation that everyone will be charged a 18% service charge. This sign is so small that we missed it the first time we were there. Unless the service is exceptional I don't tip beyond 15%. The owner (bald bad-tempered guy) is a very slick scamster. The credit card bill he gave us was printed with the row for tip empty (he adds up the 18% tip into the total along with the food and the tax), so we tipped him another 10%, and that too on 118% of the actual bill. This works out to almost 30% extra over the actual bill and I am sure much of this goes tax free to the bald-bad-tempered-guy - not a bad deal. We caught on to this scam when we went there the second time. Mr Bald-ill-tempered-owner-guy got upset and very defensive. I made him take away the 18% tip, as I have the right to choose how much I want to tip, not be told by the restaurant how much they WANT to be tipped. He would not even look me in the eye as he reversed the charges. He conceals the 18% tip in the bill, written in his bad handwriting as "SC", which is probably missed by most folks. What a sneaky scam to be run, by of all things, a restaurant named after Gandhi.

Pros: None!!!

Cons: Tip scam + lousy buffet

I had two occasions to visit the Gandhi Palace for breakfast. On both occasions, the buffet was fine: eggs, sausage/bacon, cereals, fruit, juices, coffee/tea, etc. It was nothing spectacular, but was exactly what a breakfast buffet should be. Unfortunately, like another reviewer, I have to agree that the service was not great. I stood for a while waiting to be seated. The staff seemed somewhat aloof from customers, and I also had to wait a while to pay my bill at the cash register. On the one night that a group of friends and I stopped in at the bar, the bartender [owner?] seemed not to know some of the basic cocktails, although he tried his best and was a fast learner. However, the choice of liquors was limited. Nonetheless, we enjoyed ourselves [after a couple drinks, who doesn't?] So, I think that this particular restaurant is "hit and miss." For the price, though, the breakfast buffet is worth it.

Pros: central location, good food, clean, nice decoration

Cons: service is mediocre to poor

.

Another good example of poor Indian service. Trust me, this is not "fine dining". The bald guy (owner?) has male PMS or something. He looks ticked off when taking orders from Indians. Semi-smiles when folks from other nationalities show up; but tries to shove the buffet down their throats, even if they aren't interested in the buffet and asked for menus!!
(I personally witnessed this, with a couple of Japanese and a group of Americans.)

When we were there for dinner, there was this guy and 3 other waiters: 2 Indian and one Chinese-looking. The waiters looked throughly confused. The Chinese-looking guy only seemed to worry about his own tables. He wouldn't even get water refills for us; he simply disappeared.

Unfortunately, because this is the only Indian restaurant near Disneyland, folks might still go to this restaurant. But if you're looking for "fine dining" or decent service, you're up for a major disappointment.

Food is decidedly average. Nothing to rave about.

I am not sure why these Indian restauranteurs think that they can be successful with poor service. They're such a disgrace to the warm hospitality that is characteristic of real India. And I just don't understand why people are upset with their own chosen line of work. If this guy or the waiters don't like their jobs, they should be doing something else.

I personally feel very sad that these idiots are bringing a bad name to Indian hospitality.

My daughter was sick the next day. Not sure if it was their food, but I am now alarmed to see this:

Pros: Only Indian restaurant within walking distance of Disneyland, as far as I know.

Cons: Service, Food/Facility Inspection Report; got sick the next day

We can't comment on all the meals, but the breakfast buffet is definitely not worth trying. The food is mediocre and pricey. The fresh fruit they advertise was only a few apples in a basket. The atmosphere is not pleasant either.

The food is fantastic - we love the butter chicken, but the lamb korma and fish curry are superb too. The rice is lovely - jasmine and coriander scented, and the garlic naan is great - lots of chuncky garlic. It's a shame about the atmosphere - as it's in a hotel it has a formica and fluro lights feel, so don't go for a romantic night out. But for take out, it rocks! The staff are very nice too. Park in the mini mall on the cnr of Katella and Anaheim Blvd - easier than finding parking in the hotel parking lot.

Pros: great food, good service, not crowded

.

This palace has great-tasting food. I kept eating even efter I was full. They have a great selection for both meat-eaters and vegetarians. It seems everything is made fresh with even the naan soft and hot every time they brought some. It looks great, too ... good enough to take a date, especially with their full course "for two" selections. One caveat: people seem to like taking their kids. Service was so-so with a moody waiter. Value is pretty good. My veggie "for two" selection was less than $30 and very good, very filling.
