Tritt Sarah L Dvm - Friars Road Pet Hospital is now Brian Peterson DVM

by Chris D.

What do you think about Tritt Sarah L Dvm - Friars Road Pet Hospital? Sarah Tritt isn't there Brian Peterson DVM is the vet.
Took my puppy in to get fixed and he came back broken. For 4 days he was twitching and jerking and going crazy clearly uncomfortable. He had more than 7 razor burns from when he was shaved. I have had pets my whole life and I always get them fixed I've never seen anything like this. Never even met the doctor and when I called to tell them of the problem the receptionist told me the Dr. said to put neosporin on it which he immediately licked off. No follow up call to see how he was and no follow up visit. Took him to an emergency clinic on Sunday and without saying it was inferred that they wouldn't recommend this vet. The low cost low quality spay and neutering that costs you over $100.00 and in my case allot of lost sleep and agonizing sadness to see my puppy suffering so much is no bargain. I expected some discomfort but this is way beyond the scope.

Spaying is $400????

by Christine J.

So, I got a referral from SNAP (spay and neuter action program) to bring in my cat to get spayed for $50. My husband calls me to tell me its going to be $400. So I talk to the bimbo at the desk and she tells me they have to do a freaking blood test, stool test, nail trimming, blah blah blah. So finally I tell her that we are only paying for the spaying since I have a healthy kitten and she doesn't need any bells and whistles. My friend who works for SNAP said they do hundreds of spays a day on their bus without conducting a blood test or any of these other things. I agree with the other reviewer that FRPH is there to make a shitload of money and make you feel uncomfortable. I felt like I was being scammed and taken advantage of.

Worst Vet EVER !!!

by John H.

Took our cat in for a routine spaying, and the had the worst experience EVER. We chose this vet because it was closest to our house. Don't make this mistake! The "doctor" seemed rushed and uncaring, the staff was basically sleep-walking through their duties and worst of all our cat still suffers from a large distended area where the "surgery" was done. The "doctor" responded to our concerns by mocking us and basically saying that "everything is fine...I know what I'm doing, and you don't". After a week, the problem was not resolving itself and the grand finale was more smug answers, followed by not returning our calls or picking up the phone. NEVER AGAIN!! If I don't feel 100% comfortable upon arrival, I just get up and leave.

Happy customer

I have been a customer of FRPH for over 8 years. The front office staff always make me feel very welcome and actually know me by my cat's name as well as they know me by my name. They are open 6 days a week for 12 hours per day and that really helps for getting an appointment at a time convenient for me! Dr. P is not a slick salesperson type of vet - in fact, he has had to deliver more bad news to me than good over 8 years BUT he is always factual and honest. I love getting an estimate for services before they do anything to my pet - that way I can evaluate my budget and check with Dr. P about priorities in treatment. I had one less than stellar appointment at FRPH and guess what - that vet no longer works there! I don't know if they are cheap or expensive - I just know that they love animals, take the health of my pet seriously and tell me the truth.

No Complaints From This Happy Customer

by Tariel G.

I researched several vets before I made the final decision that Friars Road Pet Hospital was the best choice for my dog. I was impressed from our first visit on and have had no complaints since then. They made my dog, Shiloh, feel loved and adored. They are very reasonable in cost and will make whatever accomodations they have to if the need is of an urgent matter. I appreciate that they provide an estimate of what the costs will be before they proceed with any tests, treatments, medications, etc. My whole outlook is that if you are not okay with them being forth-coming with information, then go somewhere else for a second opinion. As far as the office staff is concerned, they are professional, friendly and courteous. I don't know what people's expecatations are when taking your pet to a vet, but I can say that they are not going to roll out the red carpet and have a parade in your honor just because you walk through their door!!!

friars rd pet hospital

if you feel like spending time at a vet that is similar to a car dealer working on commision this is the vet for you. i took my sick dog into the vet for answers. the vet never answered any of my questions and had the receptionist present me with an estimate that was outrageous. i kept asking the receptionist questions and asked to speak to dr. peterson, to whom i never saw again. the receptionist had no clue(why would she she's not the doctor) i left feeling fustrated no answers as to what was wrong with my dog, and with a lot less money in my pocket. i'm sure there are better vets out there. i hope someday soon i find one. oh yea, my dog had a simple cold. she was better 2 days after going to the vet.

Welcome to "The Stepford" Veterinary Hospital

by Anonymous

The staff was unbelievably disinterested in my animals & me. I brought in 3 different pets on 3 consecutive days and they had no idea that I had even been there before! They just kept handing me their standard treatment sheets! Where do they find these people?

Uneven care...

by Anonymous

4 months, countless tests, and hundreds of dollars later my dog still had exactly the same problems under the 'care' of Dr. Twitt.

Problems that were treated correctly and fixed in one visit when I was mistakenly scheduled with the actual owner of the practice, Dr. Petersen.

Advice: Ask for Dr. Petersen (only works Mondays) or you are better off going somewhere else.

Happy Customer

by Kelly C.

My family has been taking our dog and cats here for as long as I can remember. I love the different entrances for dogs and cats. The lobby is a great place for the animals to interact with others, including the office cat. Receptionists, techs and vets have always been helpful and very caring. They even send out condolence cards when your pet passes away. A top-notch vet.

uncaring staff

by Anonymous

I took my cat for a check up and the receptionist wasn't at the front when I got there, or when I left! It was the strangest feeling when I left and yet she saw that I was finished with the vet. Perhaps because I had a coupon for a free checkup as a first time client, they felt that they didn't need to be friendly?? The doctor seemed rushed and disinterested in my pet. I felt that they could care less when I was there, and could care less if I came back. There wasn't anyone in the waiting room when I arrived or when I left, either. I would recommend Rancho San Carlos Pet Clinic. Much better service and more professional staff.

From an 'insiders' view:

by Anonymous

As an employee at FRPH, I'm surprised and saddened to see the poor reviews from Pam L, Carolyn and N.M. We take pride in our treatment of both the animals and our customers and aim to provide the best service possible at all times. I have little doubt that any concerns, had they been brought to our attention, would have had far different outcomes and had sunnier reviews given the chance to address them.

As with every service, its important to do your research to find the right vet for you. We encourage you to give us a call or stop by and 'check us out' to see if we are that perfect fit for you and your pets.

Best care ever

by penny l.

I can highly recommend this vet. They have taken care of my pets for years, and I have never had any bad experiences. My dog Max and my cat Blue are "senior" pets, and thanks to Dr. Peterson's excellent care they are both still healthy and happy!! I find the staff to be very caring and knowledgeable, and I always feel welcome. If you want the best care for your animals, you should go to this vet!!

Rude Bunch

by Pam L.

This is a strange crew at Friar's Rd Vet. I felt as if they didn't care if I brought my animals to their hospital or not, but, since I did, they would tolerate me. They were not warm toward my pets like many animal hospitals tend to be. I would suggest going some place else. There are numerous vets around San Diego.

Stay away

by Carolyn S.

They misdiagnosed my cat saying nothing was wrong with her after she lost 3 lbs, had chronic diarrhea & was vomitting daily. They said it was just "old age"--Again do not take your pet here.

Do NOT take your pet here

by N M.

The staff are rude, unprofessional, and fail to review your pet's treatment adequately or discuss treatment options/alternatives with you. They (temporarily) paralyzed our dog and caused him a lot of pain from what should have been a simple procedure. After doing some of my own research, I found out that there were other treatments available that would have been better.

The Perfect Place To Take Sick Little Fido

by Sarah H. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 613

I would hope that your pet never needs to visit a pet hospital or a clinic other then for routine check-ups or shots, but should your pet ever get sick, whether its an illness, flea or tick problem, or a skin disorder, the Friars Road Pet Hospital is the place to take your pet. Their caring staff is well trained to handle difficult pets, including un-trained pets who dont exactly behave in a controlled manner in their facility. The prices are very reasonable compared to other businesses of this type, and you can trust that your pet is receiving the best quality of care in San Diego County.
