Walk in and feel refreshed when you walk out.
Pleasant music, some incense burning and so much to look at.
There something for everyone.
I bought a small Buddha there once and always make that I visit when I'm on Castro.

The book store is nice, two stories, but it doesn't have much selection.

It has a lot of art books, but not that much fiction. Its a nice change up from the bigger chains however.

You can take a break from your busy schedule and visit this bookstore for a peaceful moment. It is almost like shifting into another dimension. The selection of books is on the latest buddhist writings and more. I always enjoy visiting this store and the prices on their gifts, reasonable.

This is a place to go not only a great selection of uniqe books on a variety of interesting topics but great gifts as well. Friendly staff and rasonable prices.

This place is amazing. They have a fantastic collection of books but they are much more. They have candles, incense, yoga supplies, music, videos, art, and more. Everything you can think of that is holistic and creative. They have a beautiful fountain in the middle of the store for meditation and just pure enjoyment. They have a yoga/meditation room. They have classes, programs and events to get your creative juices going. Outstanding Customer Service.

Though I have been to the Mt.View downtown numerous times, the first time I went into this book store was only a couple months ago. I really liked the ambience, it has a nice cozy feel to it. I liked the area where there have a water fountain in the store. It is so peaceful to sit there and listen to the water falling. Liked this place very much. Collection of books is also exotic.

I love the Mt. View downtown. The East West bookshop is right opposite BookBuyers which I frequent. This store is dedicated to spiritual and holistic books and items. Its a spiritual experience to just walk through this store and browse the collection. The items are a bit expensive, but you find stuff here that you never find anywhere else.

I've only been to this particular store once, but it seemed pretty nice from what I saw of it. It looked like there were yoga classes in session and they sell lots of nice little collectibles in addition to books. The layout itself is excellent, and I didn't have any trouble locating a good book on Bhuddism. Prices may be a little high, but they have a good selection so it's usually worth it.

This bookstore has a lot of Eastern philosophy books. There is lot of material on Chakras, Indian Epics, Chinese philosophy etc. They have these wonderful chimes (that are pretty expensive) and even insence sticks as well as cones that are not that expensive. They have a huge collection of candles and Cds too. Its a great place for anyone who is interested in Eastern philosophy and the like.

This book store features a lot of rare books on religion and healing that aren't sold in popular book stores in Barnes/Noble and such. The workers here are very friendly and often try to get to know you. Store is kept tidy and books are organized.

I notice that there are a lot of guest speakers here which makes this an exceptional store. Highly recommend if you're into religion/healing

This bookstore has a self-discovery theme to it. It is a community resource for information on living in a higher consciousness and awareness (whatever that means). They offer a lot of meditation and yoga related items and literature. The books tend to be about understanding the human spirit and connecting with oneself. The store is decorated very nicely in earthy colors with soft pillows and linens.

HUGE bookstore with great selection. Tends to lean toward the new age genre, but also supplies all of the general books you would find in a chain store. Great atmosphere and coffee shop to boot! I reccomend this for anyone who is anti-chain retailer. Go out and support your local business!!!!!

This is a great little bookstore for people into alternative healing or activities such as yoga or pilates. It is on the great Castro street with many cool shops. The workers here are very helpful but you might have to park a couple of blocks away on this very busy street.
