I have been fortunate enough to have been going to Manhattan Express Tailors for many years. It is worth driving a few extra miles to their Hermosa Beach Location from Manhattan Beach, because you will always be welcomed by the owner with a smile. The service is quick and the quality of service is always perfection.

SO DISAPPOINTED. I've been going to Manhattan Express Tailor for years for easy alterations. One time I noticed that they cut my jeans too short but I let it go. I tend to be a loyal type of customer with all my local shops. I referred my friend to them and she wasn't happy with her jeans either. As if I didn't learn my lesson, I went recently to alter a bridesmaid dress. I thought she would take care of me since I've been a regular customer (she even knows my name when I walk in).

The dress was too big and needed to be altered down. I am a size 27 jean with 34DD chest. In the end, the dress chest are was still too big and she couldn't/wouldn't adjust my dress top to bring in the seams on the side. She claimed it was because the dress was poor quality and repeated told me the dress just looked terrible on me.

First of all, the dress is not ugly (and I've had ugly bm dresses). It is a basic long brown strapless bill levkoff a-liine dress. Secondly, if she doesn't like it - maybe she should hold her comments to herself on how it looks on me. It is so unprofessional and rude.

Sadly, I really don't care if she doesn't like the dress or if it doesn't look good on me in her opinion - BUT I WANT IT TAILORED! I am not an idiot. I understand bringing in seams of the side of a dress is do-able.

End result: I paid $60 for a TERRIBLE alteration (which come to find out the other BMs only paid $35) and now need to bring it to another shop to fix her incompetence.

You would think that since she knows me, she would be sad that I'm not happy but nope, she continued to insult me even as I was paying to leave with the dress. She blamed the dress and me for inability to do competent tailoring and couldn't accept the fact that I wasn't happy with her work.

Please learn from my mistake. DO NOT GO THERE! It's not worth it. You'll be gambling with your expensive clothes.

This is the best tailor in the South Bay. I've been going here since they were in Manhattan Beach a while back. Now I take the trip down the road because of their service. They are skilled, efficient, friendly and reasonable. Go a couple times and they will know you by name. #1 in my book.

After having one too many experiences of pants being hemmed too short, (I like them a little bit long and no one seems to get this), Manhattan Express Tailors did the job and did it beautifully. I must say, when you spend anywhere from $150-$200, on a pair of jeans, the last thing you want is for someone to hem them too short. I'm so excited that I finally have a tailor I can trust. Thank you!!!

Pros: Great craftsmanship, really listened to what I wanted.

My altered clothes came back better than new. I do agree the prices were slightly higher than some dry cleaners I have used in the past, but in this shop you can actually see the tailors working, no crowded back room area. And teh work is excellent.

I lost a lot of weight and needed my entire wardrobe altered. My clothes feel better than new, they feel like they were custom made for me! Best tailor in the South Bay!
