Do you enjoy reading books from the library? The exact same quality of books from the library can be found at Gray Wolf Books. The place is huge with easily holding millions upon millions of books. Yes, the place does kind of stink, but that's because of the massive amount of books. It has the reek of old books. Not the smell of Barnes and Nobles or Borders. You will not find a Starbucks or coffee place attached to the bookstore either. However, cookies and coffee are provided for free - if you dare try them.

They have a nice section for any genre you can think of. Kid books-they have it. Law school books- they have it. Algebra books-they have it. Almost anything, they have it.

Sometimes they try to cheat you on price though. Go in there knowing how to negociate, otherwise you'll be paying for books as if you were buying them new at Borders or Barnes and Noble, but the books are used at it is generally very obvious.

PROS: Large selection and usually cheap books
CONS: Sometimes cheat you by overpricing well-known/often sold books.

This big space in San Leandro contains a mind-boggling selection of used and overstock books. I sometimes struggle with the way the aisles are organized but if in the right frame of mind, it's fun to wander around and make discoveries. Don't be a clean freak here because it is somewhat musty in parts. Really nice cookbook and craft book sections. Parking is available on the street and in front.

Gray Wolf Books offer used books at unbeatable prices. The place does look a bit messy at first glance, but as long as youre not looking for something rare or specific, you can pick up some gems at much lower price than you may think. The store stocks novels, textbooks, cookbooks, travel books, and basically any kind of book you can think of. They also have new books as well, although the selection is not as plentiful as it used books.

Gray Wolf is located in a warehouse on East 14th in San Leandro. If you're heading south (towards Hayward) on E 14th, it'll be on your right, recessed a little behind an iron gate. Parking is tight (there are only a few parking spots in front). But, you should be able to find street parking, too.

The store itself is full of tall shelves, loaded with used books of all kinds. The books are arranged by topic, and sometimes sub-topic. But outside of that, you'll have to spend some time trying to find what you are looking for. You won't have to do any real shifting of books, because they do a good job of keeping it organized on the shelfs. But they have such a huge collection that it's hard to locate exactly what you want.

They also buy used books, so you can bring your old paperbacks or text books, or whatever else is collecting dust on your bookshelves, and make some money.

And on their website, you can print out a 10% off coupon that you can use again and again. But, their prices are already so cheap, it isn't dire that you have it.

PROS: Huge selection. 10% off coupon. Helpful staff.
CONS: Little parking. Can be hard to find what you're looking for.
