I enjoy visiting this book store a ton. It has a fair selection of every genre, although it isn't as huge as a normal Barnes and Noble is. It is where I go to buy most of my books and it is located kind of small shopping center where at times parking can be sparse. Underground parking is the easiest.
Anyways it's a good book store!

I have just recently visited Bookstar because I didn't know that it was an affiliate of Barnes and Noble. It has all the books that BN has in stock and the staff is friendly.

Even though it is part of the Barnes and Noble chain, the Bookstar in the La Jolla Golden Triangle is very much the friendly neighborhood bookstore. The employees are always helpful, and I can almost always find the book for which I am searching. Last Christmas they had a great Stephen Hawking gift set. There are also fun little trinkets other than books that make perfect gifts.

Great place to read/study without interruptions. Not enough chairs around the place but has a great selection of magazines and especially clearance books! They have a lot of travel and cooking books, which I love to thumb through. Also close to bus line so good for those who do not have access to a car or for those who think gas is too expensive! Starbucks is nearby as is Baskin Robbins. They have a couple of small chairs too so you can relax, read and not be disturbed.

This bookstore is pretty small compare to the other big chains like Barnes Noble or Borders. But this bookstar almost have everything. You can find extensive collection on every areas.

It just lack the seating space in the store but this is due to the small size of the store.

This bookstore goes under the guise of a Barnes and Noble branch, but is a lot smaller. They are basically a small version of BN, but all BN coupons, etc work here just like any other branch. They have a really good periodical selection, bigger than a lot of places, but in general the book selection is kind of small.

Don't let appearances fool you. The Bookstar on Genesee looks unimpressive from the outside, but it's essentially a differntly-branded Barnes and Nobles. As such, they have the expected selection of books and media, at average discount prices. If one is looking for anything obscure or out of print then this isn't the store to visit, but the majority of people will find what they need. The employees are helpfull and, considering the distance to UCSD, lenient. One can take a chair and spend quite a bit of time in the place without a complaint.

PROS: Price, helpful employees.
CONS: No books outside of the mainstream.
