Went in for a double tattoo. Came out with matching Anchors that was beautiful, neat, colorful. Didnt hurt much! LOL Illia rocks! I could have gave him a big kiss on his lucky stars!

I've already been to this tattoo shop twice and I love it. They'll consult with you before hand and tell you what will work and your body and what won't. My artist was Skylar. I'm pretty girly but the guys didn't make me feel awkward in the shop at all. My tattoo took about 2 hours but Skylar kept talking to me and making sure that I was comfortable. I love both my tattoos and I'm going back when I get a new one.

Got my first ink at 44 from Todd Townsend and became addicted...........to the ink not Todd, but he is a sexy beast with gentle hands. I am working on a full upper body Tribal, still have to do my back and my ribs.

I have spent 26 hours in the shop, always have a great time.

Always like watching whole families come in for ink or piercing and see daughters telling their moms not to get that belly button piercing!

Got my nips pierced by Nick. After I stopped screaming I realized it did not hurt at all and I had a really cool new place to keep my keys!

Can't wait to gauge up!

This was the perfect place for my first tattoo. I had a specific idea on how I wanted my tattoo and $lim was able to put it onto paper just how I imagined it! He even helped work it around so it would fit on my tiny wrist.

Their shop is really clean and organized and the energy is really nice. I've already recommended it to people :)

They fixed my mom's bad tattoo and made it a work of art that she LOVED! The artists are so talented, I've never seen a cleaner shop, everyone is so helpful and friendly! I don't care how far you have to travel, get your next tatt HERE, folks!

Hi my name's Melissa and I had my lip pierced for the very first time tonight. The guy who pierced me was named Nick, and he was an exceptional piercer. He calmed my nerves, and when he did it it was painless and super fast. The shop itself is very clean, and the people were very helpful and nice. I will for sure be going back, to them and I recommend them to anyone who wants a piercing or tattoo.

I caught Captain Dave before he moved. YES!!!!!!
Everyone at the shop was cool, very helpful. I couldn't be happier! I got my pirate tat at my pirate tat shop!
For my 4th tat (and on the side....whew!) Dave made the experience as comfortable as possible. It's a clean place with amazing artists. I'd recommend them to anyone.

Awesome Parlor! Top hygiene procedures, awesome matching black gloves (fit in nicely with the decor LOL) Enter the world of pirates... place has a really original theme to it. Really cool, amusing and friendly tattooists, had a great time!! Went for a first tattoo and had the best experience. Illya is so friggin talented... and his head ain't stuck up his own ass... unlike other top artists, he makes you feel at home and at ease - I couldn't have asked for better. Totally recommend this place and artist, you won't regret it!!!!!

This was my first tattoo and I went with my son and his roomie. All three of us got tattoos....I was scared to death, the guys had previous tattoos. Slim did mine and I LOVE it. Every artist there...we used 3 different guys, were great. It was inpeccably clean and the staff was awesome. Never thought I'd get inked, but next time in LA...I'm going back! Wonderful experience!

Skylar took my art work (a very crude drawing) and made it hum! He turned it into a stunning piece of art and the colors and shading were amazing! He's a truely wonderful artist and I would recommend him to all my friends! The prices were very resonable and the rest of the artist in the shop were interesting and funny.

So I just got a tattoo done recently by Dana at Studio City Tattoo. I wasn't even halfway done and every single client in that shop asked about it and commented on how gorgeous it was. And it is. The piece is amazing and has heads turning all over the place when I go out. I admit to being incredibly hesitant about inking up my arms for the first time, but I'm so impressed with the painterly, vivid quality of this one piece that I'm planning on getting that whole arm covered. You want a unique, striking piece of art on you that other people will be jealous of? Ask for Dana, and LET HIM DRAW SOMETHING ORIGINAL FOR YOU. Don't get some pre-made junk that other people have. Don't waste the man's talent like that. Let him come up with something that will suit you and you will not be sorry. He slings ink like its oil paint. Amazing. This shop is lucky to have such a talented artist. I'll be back.

P.S. Killer fish tank. Love the cichlids. They're beautiful and nice to look at while getting tattooed.

I love Studio City Tattoo!!! Probably one of the best tattoo studio in LA. Very clean and prices are very reasonable, and it's like Pirate headquarters.

I decided to go after getting many referals from friends and coworkers.

Illya did a cover up for me earlier this year, it looks amazing, you would never know there was a tribal underneath that crow, i love it!

Yesterday Slim did a small tattoo on my forearm that says "Breathe", i love it too, it turned out perfect.

Everyone there is very nice, helpful and really good at what they do.
I've only been tattooed by Illya and Slim; both are very talented artists, and i highly recommend them.
A couple of friends got tattooed by Capt. Dave, are regular clients and going back for more, and i hear only good things about everyone else.

Though they can do it all, I think each guy might have a specialty or preferred style so you make sure you check out their books and talk to them, or they have photos on their myspace page. I know Illya is a master at traditional Japanese tattoos, but mine wasn't and it turned out amazing.

Whether you want your first tattoo or are just continually succumbing to the addiction this is a great place to go to.
Obviously, just do your homework, tattoos are forever.

And for the Ladies i shoud say that the guys at the shop are not exactly bad to look at either :)...that really helps distracting you from the little buzz of the needle digging in your skin...just thought you might like to know.

Well, I wish I was as talented a writer as Illya is an artist! That not being the case I will struggle to try to express my complete and total admiration for Illya and the masterpiece he created that now sits upon my right upper arm and shoulder. It is a magnificent samurai leading a charge on one badass horse so detailed in musculature that it appears 3 dimensional. It can be seen on Illya's myspace if you google Illya tattoo. Other than some background work in a few weeks it is complete.

All I can say is Illya is not just a tattoo artist, not that there is anything wrong with being "just" a tattoo artist. He is an artist...period. To me a true artist is someone who has a gift to be able to invoke reactions and feelings in people through their creations. Whether it is happiness, sadness, fear, pride, guilt, whatever it is. This is what Illya does, and he and other creative people like him are so lucky to be able to affect people in that regard.

Okay, so I'm rambling. It's Illya's fault, his work inspired me to feel this way. What can I say other than I can't tell you how happy I am with the results? After the first session I told Illya how amazed I was in the detail of the outline and he said " Dude, just wait until the next session it's gonna get even better." As always it exceeded my expectations.

Anyway, if you just want a little tattoo take your pick of artists. If you have something more in mind and need help with creating it and bringing it to life, do yourself a great favor and stop by Studio City Tattoo and see Illya.
In all regards he is absolutely the best. Illya, you rock!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Based on the overwhelming positive reviews I read here I decided to make an appointment at Studio City Tattoo for a tattoo that I have wanted for years. Upon walking in I was greeted immediately by Illya and Steve and some of the other artists and felt comfortable right away. After looking through sample albums of the different artists, which were all good, I chose the one I thought best suited my idea and it turned out to be Illya's.
Let me tell you Illya is one talented guy and super cool to boot. He has a real approachable personality that makes it easy to kick around ideas with and he welcomes your suggestions. He loved my idea and a graphic I brought in for him to work from. His enthusiasm in creating my dream tattoo was infectious. It made me feel comfortable and confident in his ability when he shared that he was as excited to do the tattoo as I was to receive it!!
Here's the thing that really impressed me about Illya. I had a couple of existing tattoos, one on each arm that would have to be dealt with in terms of a coverup, in order to get my dream samurai. I admit that I had some doubts that he would be able to achieve it but he said give me a week to work up a rough draft. A week later I went in and loved his rough draft and approved it but was still wondering will it be too big? Will it center on my arm correctly? How will he be able to cover the thirty year old butt ugly rose in the middle of my arm? Well, the day came when he was to begin the tattoo and I still had those questions burning in the back of my mind. This was my life-long dream tattoo, after all! So I expressed my concerns to Illya and told him if he wasn't sure about the arm as a location that he could display his art on my chest instead. A clean slate, so to speak. His reply was no he was sure he could do it on my original choice, the right upper arm. That was good enough for me.
Well, I can't tell you how ecstatic I am about the outline. Even though we're not finished yet, I can already tell it is going to be a masterpiece! The size, placement, and coverup is absolutely perfect! And the detail is simply amazing! Can you tell I'm a happy camper? Everything Illya promised was achieved and it was due to his talent, experience, and confidence in his own ability and I am truly grateful.
For anyone out there contemplating body art you would be doing yourself a great disservice if you don't go straight to Studio City Tattoo and book an appointment with Illya. Based on the reviews read here, I'm sure that all the artists here are top of the line but all I can tell you is that Illya is a true craftsman and artist and a super cool guy as well.

All the tattoo artist inside this shop are great, but my friend Mike is the best. I got my Persian tattoo from him, he has a great knowledge about Persian Empire tattooing. Also when I was getting my tattoo, Miley Cyrus stoped by to change her nose ring. There was a girl who was very nervous to get her nose pierced and Miley Cyrus told her in her own words that "don't worry Nick is the Best". I am not trying hype up this shop, I am just a very happy customer with a great experience that will last me for the rest of my life.

I did my google search like most people would do when trying to find a tattoo parlor in the LA area. My key phrase was: "The best tattoo studio in the LA area." To my pleasant surprise "Studio City Tattoo" was ranked #1. I called and set up an appointment immediately.
I was very nervous walking in, but I hoped for the best and truly got my moneys worth. I met Skylar my "artist" who exceeded my expectations in his professionalism, patience, and skill. The work he does is amazing!!!! I went back for seconds...three more tatoos and refer my friends to him.
Studio City Tattoo is VERY CLEAN, SKYLAR ROCKS, it's FRIENDLY, the bathroom is impeccable "wow", and I felt so incredibly comfortable. Skylar truly took care of me...Thanks

Before making my choice of a tattoo shop, I wanted to make sure that the place I did select was professional and clean. This is the result I recived when I went to Studio City Tattoo. The staff was friendly and helpful about any questions or concerns that I had before and after I got my tattoo. The tattoo artist Slim did a great job for me and my girlfriend. Slim will definitely be invited for Thankgiving and Christmas dinner. We are extremely satisfied with our tattoos, and would recommend Slim and this shop to everyone.

I have 3 small tats one on each wrist and one on the back of my neck. Had been undecisive whether to start on the half sleeve I have been wanting for a while. A life changing experience made me realize to do what makes me happy.

On July 19, 09 I was searchig on google for an excellent tattoo shop to get started on my right arm.
Had a vision in mind and a picture. Found excellent reviews on Studio City Tattoo shop. Same day went in. Went over the tattoo artists folders of the art work they had done. ILLYA's art work caught my eye for what I had in mind .Booked an appointment with ILLYA. Had my first sitting on July 24,09. A butterfly on my right arm with beautiful details to it. Amazing!.... And that is just the first sitting.I loved it. I was speechless. I explained what I had in mind and took a picture in and ILLYA took it from there. So orginal and unique. I can't wait til the second sitting to show it off all done. ILLYA is the best. He is great at what he does and has a friendly attitude. And is a hottie as well :)

Splendid" is not the word commonly associated with the process of getting a tattoo. "Scary" springs to mind - as does, "Ouchy-Hurty" or "Sting-o'-riffic!" But my two experiences at Studio City Tattoo have both been "Splendid!"

The shop is clean! The artists (and I am not just throwing that word around. These guys are "artists" in every sense of the word!) who do the work take time to talk to you about your tattoo - to make sure that the work they do is the work you want - nothing less.

Two weeks ago, Capt. Dave performed a three-hour epic tattooing of my upper left arm. It was a design that I had been dreaming about for a couple of years - I had an imperfect drawing and asked for some modifications. Dave knew exactly what I was looking for and took great care to make sure that this epic tattoo of my dreams did not become the gargantuan regret of my life. His interpretation was pitch perfect and spot on!

And Capt. Dave made the experience pleasant for me. There is no way to get around the fact that the process of tattooing is painful. It just is - but Capt. Dave seemed to have an empathic connection to my pain threshold and took breaks when needed and reminded me to take a breath when I deprived myself of oxygen. My satisfaction with the process is second only to my deep satisfaction with the outcome!

My new tattoo is gorgeous!

In the years that I have known Clay, I have found him to be a person who cares about others - his community, his employees and his customers! The folks who work at Studio City Tattoo and Body Piercing also show how they care for their customers in everything they do. As I was getting my most recent tattoo, I saw them work with many other people - some first-time tattoo recipients - some "well-inked" veterans. All of them were treated with dignity and respect - even a rather nutty person who seemed to come in off the street just to be goofy in public.

All are treated with respect and dignity - that's the hallmark of a community conscious business.

I'm already planning my next tattoo. I don't know when I'll get it - because I won't get inked anywhere but Studio City Tattoo - and I live over a thousand miles away. That's just how much I appreciate the work that all of them do!

They haven't figured out a way to make the process of getting a tattoo not a "hurty-ouchy-stingy" thing - but at Studio City Tattoo, you will be treated to an experience (and a result) that I believe you will agree is most, "splendid!"

On my 18th birthday I went here to get my first tattoo. Illya not only had a great personality and kept me calm but he does wonderful work. So far I have referred about 6 people here. I'm going back on saturday to get my second tattoo done by Slim. I have not yet seen a piece done from here that I don't like and I will definitely be going back for more tattoos!

I had a tattoo done in 2007 which has never felt "finished". By recommendation from a friend, I got hooked up with Dana at Studio City Tattoo. He is a genius with cover ups as well as adding that artistic touch to the previously flat tat that I had. Even though it's only a few days old, the tat has been well received by everyone who had seen it before.

The shop is incredibly clean and is loaded with character and has some incredible artists...

Thanks Studio City and Dana for making me one happy tat owner!

Walked in and talked to Todd (great guy) who set me up with an appointment that same evening with Skylar.

Showed up a little early and Skylar got to work drawing up my tattoo. This guy is an awesome artist, and seems like a hell of a guy. I will be going back to this shop and artist for multiple tattoos.

Slim was in tattooing as well when I was there, and he seemed like a great guy as well.

You can really tell the shop owner wants only the best in his business.

If your in the LA area and want a tattoo, go see these folks.

Wanted to just share with you guys how absolutely stoked my girlfriend and I were with our experience at your shoppe. This was my very first tattoo at 42 and my girlfriends first time getting her ears pierced at age 36. Needless to say Ann was scared, but Nick was so cool and gently with her and made her experience flawless. Ann smiled the entire time and said the pain was minimal. She is so stoked now! Thank you Nick for doing such a great job! I also wanted to thank Skyler for doing such an amazing job on my biohazard tattoo. It came out looking exactly the way I wanted... placement, size, color and shading is absolutely perfect. Thanks bro!

I've had a couple piercings in my time but this one was the best experience I've had. I had an industrial done, which is a bar that connects to two parts of your ear... but it I was very pleased by it The Studio City Tattoo was a unique experience, when I first walked in the door I noticed it was pirate themed... which was different. The guys who work there were very friendly. Steve was the guy who pierced me & he was really professional & did the job well. I would highly recommend getting your piercing through Steve, he is great & knows what he's doing.

Well Ive been getting tattooed at Studio City Tattoo for more than 5 years, and I can not say enough great things about the people who work there and the amazing tattoos that I have gotten. I am not someone who deals with pain well and I am very picky.....many of the shops I went into were short with me or didnt seem to care to much about the peices I wanted. I have been tattooed now by almost everyone at studio city tattoo and I am very pleased with all my work and their patience. There are a lot of great places to get tattooed in Los Angeles but I think this is the best

I've never written a review before but after getting a tattoo at Studio City I was compelled to write one.
I had work done by Dana and I can honestly say that I will definitely return to him for my next one. My tattoo came out far better than I could have envisioned in my mind. It is beautiful and I was extremely happy with the outcome. I have 11 tattoos total and this is by far my favorite one.
As soon as i walked in I was greeted and made to feel at home. I didn't have an appointment, but Dana was able to work on me right there and then.
All the guys who worked that day seemed so down to earth and it felt like they were like a bunch of brothers. Everyone who walked in was greeted and immediately helped. There were people who even walked in just to say hi, visit and hang out. All the guys were very professional.
A female who was getting tattooed while I was, passed out for a moment and the tattooist who was working on her and the guy doing the piercings immediately cared for her, gave her water, and kept her comfortable.
The shop was extremely clean, including the bathroom, and kept organized. I was very impressed and loved my experience.
I will no doubt return to the shop. Dana you are the best. The only thing is that you seem to be very quiet and shy. Just come out of your shell a little bit :)

I'm from Texas and flew out to CA to visit a friend in Long Beach and had been thinking about getting a piercing for a long time, and I'm glad I did my research. I read a lot of great things about Ryan, and thankfully he was working when we went in two weeks ago. I was really freaked out because I hadn't been pierced in about 4 years and forgot what the whole experience was like. Ryan really helped to calm my nerves and talked me through the whole procedure. He thoroughly went over all aftercare instructions with me, which is something I hadn't experienced with my last 6 piercings I had done in Texas. It's been a week and 4 days, and my lip is healing beautifully! I only had minimal swelling, and I've gotten lots of compliments on the way its healed and its placement. If I'm ever back in So Cal, I would definitely get more work done. I would totally recommend this place to anyone in So Cal considering any kind of piercing!!

If you need a piercing go to Ryan!! i cant stress that enough. This is the only studio ive found that acutally takes the time to make sure youre happy and they seem like theyre happy too!! I gotta say Ryan is AWSOME!!!!!! Ive gone to so many places trying to find someone that can do surface piercings that acutally look good like the ones ive seen on people at my school. No one seemed to know what theyy were doign until i fell upon studio city tattoo. i went in ryan was working that day. he answered all my questions and had tons of pictures of work that he had done and they all looked great! after filling out my paperwork ryan got me all set up and took as much time as he needed to make sure my piercing was going to be perfect. we were finally ready to go and guess what?!?!?! it barley hurt at all!! my nape looks perfect, its not even red and i couldnt be happier. If youre looking for a place that knows what they are doing and has awsome friendly people with out an attitude deffinatly go to Studio City Tattoo and ask for Ryan!!!! oh ya the tattoos are amazing too! If you want help on your journey with your sacred marking, come rub some crystals at this place. Your experience will be borderline religious, as they use only the highest quality artists, inks, and sage. Do not be fooled by imitations or conned by charlatans. The atmosphere is like a metaphysical massage for your chakras. It's so nice to go on a journey with Studio City tattoo, where they truly respect and dare I say love and cherish each sacred marking, and will gladly start a drum circle any time. That is a stark contrast to some other shops where they're too busy polishing their lip plates and touching up their face tattoos to be bothered with your journey.

Dave at Studio City Tattoo put my business logo inside a treasure map. . .while he was dressed as a pirate. . . has become one of my best memories of Los Angeles. I flew all the way out from Delaware to get this ink done inside the most piratical and very best ink-slinging shops in LA. . .if not the entire U.S.

I get compliments all the time about the ink and I always point them to Studio City Tattoo. . . if you go anywhere else for ink, you've made a mistake that'll be with you as long as your skin is.

Dana provided me with a work of art. I asked him to create a tattoo from a picture of my deceased husband. He created a beautiful, precise, portrait of the love of my life. I am so proud of this rendition, that I'm compelled to show everyone and they always want to know where I got done...Thank you, Dana

This is NOT a tough guy tattoo shop, NOT an ordinary tattoo shop...Its not just a tattoo shop. I often find myself stopping in, just to say hi to whoever is working, not just because they are nice and good people, but because they are my friends. They all know me by name and don't only care about making money, they're genuine people with genuine personalities. This is the cleanest, best decorated, best atmospherical, and best all around shop. The work that comes out of that shop is work that is NEVER looked at as a bad tattoo, each piece takes as equal time and effort as the last piece in. Studio City Tattoo is the best shop in the county, city, state...what ever. Nothing compares to these people.

Pros: Fun atmosphere, genuine people, terrific location, amazing art, CLEAN/STERILE...

Cons: Parking across the street means...J-walking!
