Why stay here when US Grant is so close

This Sheraton has seen better days. One of my friend's parents stayed there and their room was frayed and tired.
A block away is one of San Diego's most beautiful hotels- the US Grant. Plus there are lots of cute little boutique hotels near the Gaslamp.
It's time for a re-vamp.

This hotel has a great view of the harbor water, especially at night. The inside is not that bad either, lots of room. It's a great place to host events such as dances and formals. The food was good too, love the dessert. The staff were friendly and easy to plan with.

Very nice place to stay in San Diego. You are not to far from Gaslamp Quarter a couple blocks if that. We found out about great deal on priceline.com.

2 star disappointment
by gamehaus
The first "non-smoking" room smelled like an ashtray, the second wasn't any better. The bathroom needs to be remodeled. The window latch was broken. The refrigerator did not keep things cool. The cordless phone didn't work. The TV remote went up a channel, but did not go down -- and the volume buttons did not work. The a/c unit had two settings: freezing cold or off. The two tier elevator system made navigating the hotel frustratingly long.
On the positive side, it was certainly a suite with two living areas -- better with kids. The valet parking was expedient (but expensive @ $25/day).
Pros: Suites, Downtown location
Cons: Cleanliness, smell, broken amenities
