I love this place, it is perfect for my kids and its fun for me to. Its a bit pricy and that is why the 4 stars, but the atmosphere is great. They used to throw gum at you but I dont think they do anymore :(.

I am not as in love with it's new location, but it is still a good time. It is a GREAT place to take kids of all ages. My babies were about four months old when we took them and they LOVED it.

The Corvette diner brings you back into the fifty's with its extensive memorabilia, a soda fountain counter, a corvette table, and waitresses with bee hive hairdoos dancing and throwing straws and gum at your table. Even though they no longer use the warm bacon dressing on my wife's favorite salad, their food is good, their portions are huge, their staff is friendly and funny, and they often have someone making baloon animals for the kids. Every now and then the staff stops serving to do a dance. Although the service is very slow, this place is worth the trip. It is owned by the local Cohn family who own about 6 other places that are all good quality.

This place is awesome!
Ive lived in San Diego my whole life and no other resturant can compare!
My family and i have come to Corvettes for parties since i was a kid! *20's now*
They have a real corvette inside the diner, and theres a man that sits in a radio station like box that you can walk up and request songs!
If you go there have a "green river" drink!
they are the best!
PROS: fifties feel, awesome service, great food.
CONS: can get crowded at times, 30 min. wait WORTH IT!!!

World class?? Not really sure if it is "World Class" but it is a great place to have fun while you are having dinner. They have great food, kind of the basics you would fined in a 'diner'. I think they would laugh if you expected steak and lobster. Don't expect a cozy intimate place, it is loud and the waiters are intentionally rude, that is all part of the fun. It is a great place to have a birthday party, or any other happy event. The entertainment from the wait-staff is worth as much as the food. Back to the '60's for sure, kids of all ages love the place. At least I do, and I'm from the 'older set'. It is also a great place to bring friends from out of town, there probably aren't many places like the Corvette Diner around. I would call it a San Diego Landmark for sure. Nothing bad to say. Reasonable pricing for good food. Have fun!! That is what it is all about.
PROS: Fun, loud, good music, dancing servers, Bazuka Bubble Gum
CONS: Parking is so, so, plan on valet parking or you may walk a long ways.

The food is great, the servers are awesome. I was surprised when the waitress took our orders while sitting next to me and threw stuff at us. It's a fun restaurant for the family. Try their shakes and desserts.

A fun 50s themed diner with great food and a live DJ spinning the oldies. The waitresses are sassy and throw Bazooka gum at you. Colorful decor with corvettes, Elvis, Marilyn Monroe etc decking the walls. A great place to have a party especially for kids.

I recently went to the Corvette DIner when family from out of town were visiting. This is not what I had remembered. In the light of day, the restaurant was run down, dirty and dingy. The food was nothing special, and the service was unimpressive.
This used to be an establishment that groups would get together to frequent and have fun at, now it is just depressing.

The Corvette Diner: an eternal San Diego favorite, treasured by residents and visitors alike, and basically just another weird place to hang out. In elementary school, birthday parties at the Corvette were a given.
I was there this past Thursday night. My sister had a graduation on Thursday, and decided on the Corvette as the place for her party. Attending were my mom, my stepmom, my cool aunt, my grandmother, my sister, her boyfriend, and myself.
LOCATION, AND GETTING TO SAID LOCATION
The Corvette Diner is on Fifth Ave. in Hillcrest, one of San Diego's swingin'est spots. Fifth Avenue, especially this part of it, is a busy thoroughfare which is an accident waiting to happen. If you are looking to go to one of the restaurants or other businesses on this street, there are a couple of parking garages available... try to parallel park on this street and you will be killed.
If you are going to the Corvette, or Kemo Sabe, the restaurant next door, there is a parking lot right there with a $3 valet service. Use this!
DECOR AND FIRST IMPRESSIONS
Basically, the Corvette is a fifties soda-shop-styled museum. It's not really a 'diner' but a full-fledged restaurant, despite its small size; I think it's taller than it is wide. When you first walk in, it's almost disgusting in its busy appearance. It borders on cluttered. There are posters, photos, and road signs covering every open space on the wall. There is, indeed, a Corvette straight ahead, at the opening into the actual restaurant area. You'll walk around it to get to your table.
Inside this area, the ceiling is high, vaulted, hung with flags and huge signs and streamers. We sat under a big sign with a Texaco logo.
There is neon everywhere. The walls in some areas are mosaicked with black, white and toothpaste-blue tiles. Lots of pictures of James Dean and other assorted fifties icons.
Bazooka gum boxes and soda fountains and jukeboxes surround you. In one corner is a big DJ booth, enclosed in glass walls. The DJ spins re
PROS: An old classic with good food
CONS: Located in Hillcrest: Parking hard to find

This place was different in terms of type of service you got here. The servers have attitude, they throw a whole bunch of straws on the table, and they yell at each other. This is how it's supposed to be though, and it's all in good fun. The food and shakes were really good.

Corvette Diner has one of the most fun atmospheres of all restaurants in San Diego. The building is decked out in 50s memorabilia, complete with a Corvette. The waiters are dressed in 50s gear and are a blast. They throw straws and gum, and sing along to the oldies songs being played. Besides the awesome atmosphere, the Corvette Diner offers great food, especially all their milkshakes!

The Corvette is a truly fun place to eat. It has a great 50's atmosphere and offers up great burgers, onion rings, and milk shakes. Prices are reasonable and service is generally very good, although it tends to slow down when the whole place is full (not uncommon).
