I took my son to Pediatric Associates and was seen by the amazing new doctor, Dr. Hoffman. He took the time to explain to me all the ways I could help my child get better without using strong drugs. He distracted my son with toys and puppets, while he was examining him, and my son never once cried during the exam. I will stay with Pediatric associates and this new doctor who is replacing Dr. Contini.
I have called Dr. Contini's office and was able to get advice from someone at the office who was very friendly. I also got a call from Dr. Contini to make sure everything was ok.
I have met the new Dr. at Pediatric Associates and did not like him at all. I have really liked Dr. Contini's new office. As for Saturdays, I was able to talk to Dr. Contini over the weekend and we were seen at an urgent care. It was no different than if I had been seen by another doctor at Pediatric Associates.
We were going to follow Dr. Contini to his new practice, but now we found out that there are good reasons to stay at Pediatric Associates. The staff at the new office is not very friendly. There is no advice nurse available. We love being able to call and get advice from the nurses at Pediatric Associates. There are no Saturday hours for very sick children like at Pediatric Associates. If we have to see another physician at our old office, at least it is part of a bigger group of doctors who practice together and are on call for each other if necessary. Norma and the staff are still at Pediatric Associates and we are sure they will replace Dr. Contini with another good doctor.
I just saw the question about Dr. Contini. He moved to a new office just down the hall to work with his wife. They call themselves Almaden Pediatrics. I met Dr. Contini when my son was real sick. He was the only doctor who could figure out what was going on. He diagnosed a friends daughter with celiac disease after other doctors missed it. We loved the new office. The staff was so much better than pediatric associates. My daughter saw his wife and loved her!
We went to Dr. Contini's new office this week for the first time and loved it. The office is big and bright. His staff was super friendly. So much better than at pediatric associates. I believe he left there so he and his wife could practice together. I trust Dr. Contini with my kids completely. We have been going to him for years and he always seems to have the right answer.
I have to say I really love Dr. Contini. He has a great personality. He listens carefully to what you have to say and no matter how silly they are he smiles and treat you very well. Maybe I am too picky but about his practice I am not sure. When I had my third son I went to him for four months checkup and vaccination. For a 4 month old baby he prescribed 1.8 m. of Tylonal. Since I had experience with my other two. I immediately realized this is a high dose and I was right. The other time my baby was sick for a while and then he went on antibiotic for ear infection for ten days. After seeing him in 7th day since he had other symptoms, he said if he did not get better give him another 7 days of same antibiotic. When I went in two days later since my baby had rash over his body, the nurse practitioner checked and his ear infection did not go away. So she said we need to change the antibiotic not continue with the same and after that it cleared. Why did he prescribe the same? It seems obvious changing would be better. My second son got stuffy nose for few weeks in January so I asked him is this allergy. He said it is not since it is not allergy season!!! Isn't that weired? one can have allergy to other stuff at home like dust mites.... So he put him on augment in to clear his sinuses. I have to confess that helped but again for last few weeks he has stuffy, congested nose I don't think it is sinus infection again. Why doesn't he consider allergy. Maybe if I take him again he will treat it as allergy who knows?Anyways, I look at the comments. Every body talks about his personality that is great and I know is important. But is it only me being picky and not liking some of his treatments??? I really like him and loved Norma too. But they are not together anymore. Dr. Contini and his wife have their own practice now in the same parking lot.I will continue going to him since my pediatric friend also talks highly about him. But how about those incidents? I really want him the best since I want to continue going to him. Has anyone else had similar experiences??

Dr. Contini and his wife (also pediatrician) now have their own practice in the same complex, just a couple doors down. Will follow him as we adore him, but not sure about the office staff here however. First time in the new office, I didn't see a smile from the two behind the desk. A bit put out was the attitude. Seems like they'd be trying harder since they just started there. I will miss his old assistant Norma, she was very sweet and thorough. Hate starting over with new staff.
We received a letter in the mail from Pediatric Associates stating that Dr Peter Contini was leaving Pediatric Associates. The letter did not give an explanation as to where he is going, can we follow him, why is he leaving, nothing. Which is understandable, 'it's business' for Pediatric Associates - however, it seems odd. Maybe he contacted some of his long term customers???? We've seen him for 16 months and I was blind sided. Does anyone know why he is leaving?
I just can't say enough great things about Dr. Pete! My kids love him. He and his staff are always so freindly even when they are so busy. I really do not know how he does it. He must have the busiest practice around because everyone I know brings their kids to see him but always makes us feel welcome! We feel blessed to have found him.
I have been taking my children to Dr. Contini for over five years and have experienced nothing less that exceptional care for my children. The staff is friendly, helpful, caring and always go the extra mile. I have never waited more than a few minutes for the doctor which is amazing. The entire staff is wonderful and I could'nt be happier!
I'm not sure about those other comments on his staff, but they are wonderful!! (we all know arriving late causes the waterfall effect on the whole day...which would make them run late all day) So their late policy is right on. Dr Contini is fabulous. Nothing but great things to say about this office!!!
I have known Peter for over 20 years, and couldn't think of a better person to be in the pediatric medical field! He is awesome w/ kids, and even better w/ nervous, overly concerned parents. I have NEVER had any negative experiences w/ him or his staff, and have NEVER had an excessive wait. I would whole heartedly recommend them to clients and friends, and have already.
Okay, when I heard how great Dr. Contini, was, I made sure to get my kids in to see him. And while he is really nice, the office is run poorly. Getting an appointment is like trying to get trying to get help from your credit card company, only worse. Then they're unreasonable about being late, while thinking nothing of making you wait.
You call their main number, and get routed to the Dr.'s Assistant's mailbox. You have to leave your number and problem and then you wait for them to get back to you. So if you call at 10:00, you probably won't get to talk to a live person until after their lunch at 1:00.
Then one time, after calling at noon, leaving a message, and not getting a call back...I called them at four and finally talk to someone at 4:30. "Yes, we have an appt at 4:45 and we close at 5:00, so you have to make it by that time"
Umm. How about cutting me some slack and staying an extra five minutes because I live 15 minutes away, and have two kids to get in the car...Never mind that I've had to wait up to an hour and a half for the doctor stuck in a tiny room with two kids...You see, they think they are being sly when they take you out of the waiting room within 15 minutes, but then they stick you in the exam room so it looks to the other patients that you're getting helped right away. The truth of the matter is, you could be in there forever.
I've never felt such a fervent dislike for any doctor's office and their policies as I feel for this one...
I took my daughter to Pediatric Associates today. The office staff were not friendly at all - they refused to help warm the bottle milk for my daughter, and they were very impatient to help search my insurance information by simply suggesting to reschedule the appointment.
We ended up going back without seeing the doctor (so no comment on the doctor) and will never be there again.
Dr. Pete is such a wonderful doctor. My daughter loves him and I do too. We moved to Scotts Valley 2 years ago from SJ, but we still make the trek over the hill when we need to go to the doctor because Dr. Pete and his staff are totally worth the drive. We feel very lucky to have him as our doctor.
My three children have been patients of Dr. Contini for the last 5 years. There have been many times we have had to wait to see the doctor when he was running late. This afternoon I arrived with my three children after picking them up from three different locations and 40 minutes of driving to find that he left for a non emergency because we were late!!!
PROS: Great with the kids...when he is available
CONS: unfair late policy

Doctor Contini is a great pediatrician! I have three kids who have gone there since he started several years ago. He has a great personality, and is very thorough when treating my children. He has a way of getting them to calm down when they have an injury. They leave smiling! My daughters like to see a female doctor, and there is one available. I'm sorry I don't remember her name, but she is very good too.

Since birth, my kids saw Dr. Charlene Shough at Pediatric Associates, and we were sad to see her retire. Her replacement, Dr. Veramini, is a wonderful pediatrician who takes the time to listen to the kids during their visits. She exudes a motherly vibe yet she is straightforward in her assessments. We highly recommend this office for children in the area.

I am very pleased with the care my 2 children have received at Pediatric Associates. The doctors are very caring, thorough and well informed. When ever we have had a need to see a dr on short notice, we have been able to get appointments. Dr Contini is very good at explaining what is going on, and listening to our concerns.
PROS: caring drs, can get appts easily
Pediatric Associates provide good patient care but I had some complications with the office staff.
When you make the appointment, they do not mention who will you be seeing. My infant son and I went to our scheduled appointment to see his doctor, but we had the practitioner nurse instead. It seems that the front office forgot to mention whom will be seeing him.
But if you miss an appointment or arrive late, you pay $ 40 regardless. When you are scheduling with the office staff, make sure you ask for your doctor by name, double check and arrive early.
We consider ourselves to be very lucky to have Dr. Peter Contini as our pediatrician. He's everything you'd want in a pediatrician -- great with the kids, really easy to talk to, someone you consider a trusted friend. Both our chilren (ages 2 and 5) enjoy seeing Dr. Pete -- he has a great rapport with the kids and makes visits easy and fun. We also appreciate his open, direct and caring manner in explaining medical terms, issues, or things to watch out for to us as parents. His entire staff is very friendly, accessible, and great to work with. The other thing we love about Dr. Pete and his team is that they really keep to the appointment schedule so that we never have to wait, which is so appreciated with two young children!
PROS: Caring, attentive, and excellent pediatrician
