I love the theater but due to the horrible experience we had here I must be honest. The food is sooo bad. I luckily paid $10 more for the prime rib which was the only item that was truly edible. We ordered the ribs, two tiny bones floating in a water sauce, and the barbeque chicken, a tiny boned thigh with a touch of barbeque sauce on it. The beef and barley soup was sad as was the salad. Three tiny dinner roles were served and we asked for more due to the non edible entrees and were told no, policy of one per table.
The show was okay, but the service of the staff was unacceptable. The male host was outwardly rude and the waiters performed their job with zero personality From the moment we walked into the theater and asked for help on choosing our table, to the rude way our receipt was jammed at us during the show, the whole experience was one not worth ever reapeating as we paid about $75.00 a head and its just better to just see a professional show and buy a well cooked dinner in a resturant for the same fee.

This is a rebuttal to Gary K's two reviews:
First of all, Gary K., you spell the word 'row' R-O-W, not r-o-l-l --- which happens to be a completely different word with a completely different meaning --- so perhaps you need to get your grammar/English straight before you start hammering away at this establishment! Now, as far as the Curtain Call Theater is concerned, this is a lovely place with a very nice show and dinner, for a very reasonable price. The service is good, although I believe they are working on a tight budget right now. The new/current owners are working very hard to improve every aspect of this theater. (They were previously taken over by a church organization, and I suspect the theater did not fare well at that time.) I have seen many shows with many dinners at this theater over 20 years of time, and always have been pleased. The atmosphere is warm and intimate because of its small size, and much more personal than a large theater. Dinner is served within a larger window of time due to the fact that some people drive a distance, and cannot arrive earlier because of traffic congestion (I come from the South Bay and have run into traffic problems myself). Their food is always great, and they offer a good selection, which includes salad and soup. Dessert is available at an added price, and is worth it, served during intermission --- what fun! Sure, the place is a little worn in its physical appearance and could use a bit of remodeling, but I am sure this is underway or in the future plans of the current owners. However, the Curtain Call Theater is truly a WONDERFUL place to go for a family night out for anyone who enjoys musical theater!!!

We have been to see both Evita and Anything Goes and we were really happy with the perforamances... For a small stage they did a great job with Evita, the cast was very good and we recommended to to many friends.

I didn't know the Anything Goes story but it was also very enjoyable. I am impressed with the professionalism at the theater.

Food was good, well served both times. We had gone the Curtain Call several years ago, it was ok, but I think it has improved immensely.

Hope you will be able to keep up the good works, we are a bit worried with nothing pending... it is nice to have a good evening so close to home.

Thanks a lot.

I recently went with my 16 year old daughter to see EVITA. We had a wonderful time. The food was tasty, service was good, and the play was excellent. It turned out to be a very memorable Mother's Day. When my oldest daughter comes home from school, the 3 of us plan on seeing Anything Goes.

I just read the reviews by Gary K. Poor guy - we do not agree! Food is good. Dessert was great. Sound of Music was an excellent production, done very well. We were two couples and enjoyed the entire evening. Could they improve? Yes. Staggering the tables for veiwing would help. Next time we go, table for 4 next to the rail. Enjoyed the food, although last time we went we all ordered the prime rib - it was one tough old cow. Commented to the girl when I bot tickets - she said she had been ther the previous week and the prime rib was excellent.
We will be back, despite Gary K's problems. Brad M.

I went again and this time ended up leaving at the first intermission of the Guys & Dolls play. Had to request my check and was told they were not suppose to give me my check until at least the second intermission. Felt trapped, but they did bring it and I was out of there.
Got there at 5:30pm because we were going to meet another couple. Could not go to our table, had to sit out in the lobby until they were ready. 6pm was the dinner time and we were there and ready. The show didn't start until 7:30pm. So there we were sitting there for 1-1/2 hours now at our table before the show started. By the time it started we were already tired and bored. The chairs are not comfortable enough to be sitting that long. Then the play is suppose to go for 3 hours I think :-O????? So I was suppose to sit on a hard chair for 4-1-2 hours and stay awake?
If dinner is at 6pm then that is what it should be. Not wait and wait so people who are always late to places can come in late and still eat before the play. The play should start at 6:30 or 7 the latest.
Way to long to sit and watch a play. Guys and Dolls is very boring and I am suprised that everyone didn't leave by the second intermission? Maybe they did, I was not there to see. I will try another playhouse from now on. After 3 times here I decided this is not a great place to go. However the food was great. Should just go for the food and leave after you eat

UPDATED to make KATHY R. happy. Yes roll s/b row. Some people have to work for a living and type a review very fast in-between working. I am happy you found so much anger to display on my review, when you pretty much said the same thing I was saying about they need to remodel! Hmmm must be an x-wife or something? Because anyone else would have jumped on the people here that only gave one star where I had given three stars. I was being nice. But now that you opened up my eyes and I remember my other experiences there, I will now give them one star. :-) .
Oh and you think you would have caught the mis-spelling errors too? Shows you don't know much about English also? "Inbetween" s/b "In-between". AND the word "Barly" s/b "Barley" So I guess you don't know as much as you thought :-). 1 star to goes to this place that crowds people into a small area. The breaks are long right along with the plays. But I still take my 25 year old girlfriend there once in awhile, and we just leave after the first break. That is about the right amount of time. You are a bitter person Kathy, Ever think of taking anger management? Relax enjoy life, and don't let little stuff like this get to you so much. I feel sorry for you. Glad you enjoy this place.

There is nothing in performing arts that carries a stigma as large as dinner theater, and yet the Curtain Call still thrives. The experience is an accessible thrill, there is no snobbery, no pretension, this is pure American musical theater as it was meant to be experienced. The good stuff, no edge, but allot of joy. Hands down my favorite Live Arts guilty pleasure.

This is a great asset to Southern California! The musicals are performed by regulars but they are so good! Johnny Fletcher is fantastic in all of the plays he's in! Jill Morrison lights up the entire stage with her smile! Melissa Cook sings beautifully! Some of my favorite plays I've seen there are: King and I, Sound of Music, Cabaret, Sound of Music, Oklahoma and many others. Although the plays performed are classics, I enjoy the setting, food is excellent and better than most dinner theaters I've been to. Obviously I am a regular customer there and love every minute of it.

This theatre usually shows older musicals that can be performed on a small stage. The performances are good, but there's nothing fancy about what you see. Along with the show, you also order a meal of your choice from the menu. The service has usually been good, and the food is satisfactory for what you pay.
