I can see why people would be upset about the "bad" service. Foodwise this is the closest thing to AUTHENTIC high end sushi in LA that I have experienced. I have been living in Tokyo for 20 plus years.

I visit LA several times a year

Pros: Friendly Servers

Cons: Everything Else

For consistently great sushi (so great they named it twice), I can wholeheartedly recommend Sushi Sushi on South Beverly Drive near Olympic Boulevard. However, this place is not for everyone. If you like creative California-style sushi

Pros: Great Uni, if you can get it.

Cons: Terrible attitude by chef

This is probably my favorite sushi restaurant in LA. The food is great, the place is intimate and unpretentious, the price is right. The service is good. A perfect place to meet a friend.

Cons: Not much, really. I just like it.

I ate there last week (my third time) with my daughter (we are both very experience sushi eaters) and was very disappointed. Being in the mood to relax and let the chef do the thinking, we ordered omakase with some nice saki. The saki

Pros: Good basics

Cons: Omakase was an insult

Everything was insanely fresh: each perfect sliver of fish, uni (which i've never enjoyed prior), oysters, crab legs .The place looks like a hole in the wall, but the prices will easily exceed what you pay at Katsuya, Hamasaku, Nobu, but it's definitely worth it. Don't expect any frills, a scene, or a friendly chef and you'll love this place. I'm giving them 5 stars even though the chef told me that I'm just a kid who doesn't know how to eat real sushi.

This is the best Sushi in L.A. The Omakase Chef's Selection is always awesome. The chef, Shige offers delectable and fresh sashimi--ususally 2 kinds of toro, marinated tuna, seared albacore always the best. The presentation is lovely
