When my home burned to the ground in the San Diego Wild Fires, all the papers in my safe burned up and all my target pistols got very hot. Some were partly melted other just changed color. I called 4 stores with highly reputed gun smiths and every one said throw them all out and would not even take take the time to look at them. A friend told me to try Fine Firearms and their smith at the time was Mark Shaw. He examined all the guns and the condition of their springs told him how badly each had been damaged. He was able to repair three which was WAY better than anyone else since no other shop even asked me to bring them in to be looked at! Maybe this review is really on the abilities of Mark Shaw who is no longer their gunsmith, but I was always treated very fairly by all staff so I have nothing bad to say about them

I inherited some guns recently and didn't know where to go. I went to Fine Firearms. Everyone was so nice... at first. They told me where to go to sell them myself. Then suggested that I come into their store for the private party transfers. I had done two transfers with them, and they were great. I went in today to do another transfer, and the owner said he wouldn't do it. He also said that everyone was only nice to me because they thought I would consign some of my guns with them. I was told by the employees to try to sell them privately first, then have them consign what I couldn't sell. I feel bad because I told everyone that Fine Firearms was great, but now that I've met the owner, my opinion has changed. Bottom line: Don't go to Fine Firearms of La Mesa. They have no interest in helping you, unless there is lots of money in it for them. They are a bad representation of the gun community, and even worse as a business.

La Mesa Collectibles is one of those stores that if you are visiting San Diego and have to send souvenirs back home, you should go there first, because you will be able to buy something for everyone on your list at low, affordable prices. This is what I like to call a ?junk? store. It sells all of the little items that no one really needs, but everyone buys, which clutter the shelves, dresser tops, and tables in our homes. You can?t help but stop in just to see what they have, and the prices of the items always seem to get you to purchase something, but then, isn?t that the whole idea of this type of store? I think they are very affordable on most items, but you won?t find any high quality merchandise here, just regular, everyday merchandise, like you might expect to find at a swap meet, or similar shopping environment. The staff is friendly, and welcoming, and the store is easy to shop with a very comfortable environment. I like the artistic, well decorated feel of this store, which many stores of this type do not have. The only downside to this store is trying to find places in your home to store all the ?treasures? that you buy here.

PROS: A large selection of small "treasures"
CONS: Trying to find a place to put the treasures you buy!
