My wife and I recently got married at The Victorian and we thought it would be beneficial to give a fair assessment of the venue to those shopping for a wedding location. The benefits far outweigh the negatives but it was a frustrating experience overall. The fact remains that if you want to have your ceremony and reception in the same venue that is easy for out of towners to get to with free parking for a reasonable price, The Victorian is it. However, buyer beware. If you choose The Victorian, you sign an egregious contract that puts you at great liability. You agree to certain terms and once the contract is signed, there is no flexibility about anything. The contract is very carefully worded to protect them so read it carefully.
Here is an example - when we were initially shown the venue, we were told that we would be renting the entire facility, which included a large basement area for the groom which was unfinished at the time. We found several structural problems with the building such as holes in the wood that were covered with rugs and rotted steps that were dangerous for heels or those not watching where they step. We were told that these issues would be addressed. About three months before our wedding, we read an article about a speakeasy opening up in the basement. We were never forewarned about this and were very distraught by this new information. This affected parking, our guests, and many other factors you will understand when you plan your wedding. The speakeasy would be open during our wedding which was not comforting to learn. We were upset, but at that point, there was nothing that we could do. Looking back on the contract, we found that the basement was never specifically mentioned. On top of that, the wine room in the basement was now the only area for the groom and the rooms were separated by a window so that the bar patrons could see into, but not have access to, the room. Needless to say, this was an unforeseen issue that we just had to get over. We also requested early entry the day of the wedding but were quoted such an egregious price for an extra hour that we decided to forego it. We tried to negotiate but they simply would not budge.
The day of was magical, and really put many of the issues we encountered in the background. However, it was not a stress free experience. It was interesting to see that none of the structural issues were fixed until a speakeasy opened in the basement and then all of the sudden there was an effort made to fix those issues. It was also harrowing to see that they opened up the deck on the 2nd floor to the speakeasy patrons during our wedding(!) Luckily the ceremony was over, but our gift card box was an unlocked door away from these strangers. No one made us aware of these potential issues and luckily one of our helpers made sure that the door was locked. However, this whole issue was one that we had to discover rather than be told about and we were not happy about that.
However, the day of the wedding, The Victorian staff was amazing and we had a wonderful wedding. Everyone really stepped it up and everyone came through.
In conclusion, it's a really great venue to have an amazing wedding at - just be careful, ask a lot of questions, and try to get as much as possible in writing.

I can't say enough about the Victorian - from the location to the staff to the food, it was just incredible all around. My husband and I got married there last August after planning a wedding in just 3 and 1/2 months.

We looked at a lot of places for our wedding, but none offered the complete package as well as the Victorian. A few of the wonderful experiences you will treasure if you opt to get married there:

1) A place where you can hold both your ceremony and reception. We got married upstairs, had our cocktail party outdoors and then our reception inside downstairs. It feels like three completely different places without the need to make your guests drive all over the place. The venue is beautiful and feels like a home. The grounds are perfect for beautiful pictures.
2) Warm, wonderful staff. Janelle and Mandy - awesome! We were treated like royalty and it just made it even more of a special time in our lives.
3) Absolutely delicious food. People to this day still say we had the best wedding food they have eaten - the filet and the salmon, both cooked to perfection, the sides, the appetizers.
4) The tasting. Before we had the wedding, we had our tasting. We had so much fun gorging ourselves on yummy appetizer and dinner options. Drinking champagne. Drinking wine. Tasting 8 different cakes plus one that wasn't on the menu they served especially for us. Happy happy day!
5) The cake. Don't bother with a separate bakery. The Victorian has their own baker who makes wonderful cakes. Another item you don't have to worry about coordinating if you let them do your cake, plus the cost was lower than most bakeries.
All in all, I HIGHLY recommend the Victorian for your wedding or any event. You will be well taken care of, have a wonderful time, eat great food, drink/dance/enjoy and have amazing memories for years to come. We couldn't be happier with our special day!

Besides having a great cafe, The Victorian offers a take-out menu, corporate catering and special event menus. I have used all 3 services - the best on the westside! We tried their Thanksgiving to-go "sides" this year: amazing corn chowder, cornbread stuffing with cranberries, cranberry sauce with ginger, sweet potatoes with brown sugar & pecans, beet salad with goat cheese, green beans with fried shallots & hazelnuts (is your mouth watering yet?!) and a scrumptious pumpkin bundt cake with chocolate frosting. All I did was bake my turkey and set the table (they probably would do that too!). Someone at the table said "why would I ever stress about cooking these meals again? I'll just order from them for my holiday dinner and parties!". Very affordable and very nice people! In this economy when everyone is watching money, I really don't think you can make most of the dishes for less if you factor in your own time! Its a pleasure to compliment a great service...and I am usually a picky customer!

We looked at at least 20 places for our wedding. We walked in & I know at once, this was the spot for us to get married. And the price was no higher then any of the other places in the area that we looked at. They staff could not have been nicer with all our questions that we had. They did everything we asked. The evening went wonderfully. The day before when we got there for the rehearsal they had out a little bit of food out & water, & ice tea to drink.
The food was out of this world. The hors d'oeuvres were great. Not a drop left on the dinner plates. The cake!!! OH MY GOSH!! CAn you say HEVEN!! The best. and I do not like chocolate cake. We did the chocolate cake, with the topper being carrot cake covered with the chocolate frosting. And it made the flowers pop, as that is how the cake was decorated. There was NO cake left over for us to take besides the topper & that was wonderful a year later.
And the photos.. Just wonderful wonderful background. All of the pictures were picture perfect. From the front of the Victorian to the inside.
One of the other things I really liked best is that ours was the only event going on so the staff was there for us & not focused on the next event or another events going on.

The ambiance and location are fabulous. The food is just alright. I ordered the blueberry pancakes and they were satisfactory- huge portion but a bit dry and not sweet enough. The prices were decent- I spent under $10.

I LOVE The Victorian. I only wish they were open everyday, for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We ate here for the first time for breakfast on a Saturday morning and we were shocked to get a huge meal of such quality ingredients... I love it here. The food is amazing, and you get real value for your money. Fabulous ingredients, large portions, fresh menu, great service, low prices. I can't say enough positive things about this place. Have breakfast or lunch here on a weekend, and I promise you will return for more. We love The Victorian!

I ordered food from this place for myself and 12 of my co-workers and we all LOVED it. I got so many compliments for finding this place. The food was awesome, each of us had different things and it all tasted good. The price is right. I would recommend the sweet potato fries and the meatloaf sandwich. You get so much food for your money, trust me I am not complaining. The food is delicious, different and nicely presented. I took the orders back to the office and they packed it up really nicely with no spillage. My new favorite place to eat. Its about 5 blocks from where I work but the food is worth the walk. I will definitely order for my office there again. Hats off to the chef and staff.
