While it's true that their employees leave a LOT to be desired in the knowledge department, and they are definately out for the quick buck (just listen to a commercial about their once a "year" blow out sales that somehow even though they are supposed to be rare happen almost weekly) my main arguement is the one I use for many poorly managed stores today (Wal Mart, Home Depot to name a few more). Waste of customers time. Ive spent HOURS waiting for things at Guitar Centers. God to even have a staffmember help has taken over half hour. To me that's the rudest thing you can do is make people wait while 3 guys with tattoos and purple hair pick their noses and talk while you wait. Customer service must be retaught in our lifetime!!

I use to love this place. Now it seems that they have become a Costco for guitars except for the cost - large inventory, so so quality, and expensive prices. Service is less than friendly. Major attitude.

You might as well buy online.

They ignore you from the moment you walk in. Perhaps if you know exactly what you want you could bother someone to order it or work the cash register for a sale. We didn't do this. Large inventory of guitars, but we went back to buy the new electric guitar and amp from the friendly, helpful people at Music Village, who are dedicated to the art of teaching children music. I'd rather spend my hard-earned bucks there!!!

I called the store yesterday to order something not only did the man in the drum department obviously not know anything about the drums he was selling but he was lazy as hell and wouldn't look up a part for me (I offered to pay up front if he had to order it too). Lame. The Asian dude is cool though, I don't know his name so I couldn't request him, he helped me get cymbals and knew what he was doing. Every guitar center I go to seems to be staffed with morons. WTF. Guitar Center is the only authorized dealer in my area so I am forced to go there. I guess thats how they do business. Things place gets a thumbs down cause its run like a shopping mall and not a music store. I shouldn't know more about the products than a person who works in a music store thats a bad sign. I wish I knew that guys name. LAZY MOFO, Hey guitar center, just because someone plays the instrument of the department they are in doesnt mean they should work in a music store!

The first floor of this music store supports guitars - they appear to have alot of inventory. The second floor is for drumming. This is the section we have used. They have a pretty good inventory, but their prices are only OK. Their advertised specials are a bit overzealous.

Sure wish there was an alternative to this noisy, unhelpful dump, but K&K (while quieter) is only marginally better. They probably suffer from the same afflictions as most "fast-food" music marts, hiring from the lowest-common demoninator in this very hot job market. They really need to re-think how they do sales at SJGC.
