I like this spot, sometimes there can be a little bit of a wait, but that is simply because we all love it here. It is about as comfortable as a visit can get. You won't find myself any place else, without doubt! Highly recommended.

One of the best places in Los Angeles to see and hear live music. This is a great place to see some very talented up and coming bands before they hit the mainstream. The sound system is good but it can get a little loud sometimes depending on the type of music playing at the time. The drinks, on the other hand, are way too expensive and it seems as though they are watered down. Go for the music! You won't be disappointed.

There isn?t a whole lot to say about this place other than it will be one amazing show. This place doesn?t book lame bands. If someone is playing here then they are legit. Starting off, the line outside moves pretty quickly, but I recommend buying your ticket online the night before the show because it will sell out and once you get to the front of the line your names is already on the list and it is hassle free. Once in side head upstairs to the main bar and get some drinks asap. As it gets more crowded it becomes harder to get a drink. They serve a ton of different beer, but I only drank the Mickey?s because, well when an establishment serves Mickey?s grenades you just don?t say no?.that would be sacrilegious. The Mickey is also the best bang for your buck in the beer department. However, for hard liquor I suggest the long island iced tea, which comes in a pint glass, where their jacks and cokes come in smaller cocktail glasses. Get as many drinks as you can before the band takes stage, because you wont want to miss the ?in your face? set. It says maximum occupancy 175, however I believe there were 250 when I was there and the fire marshal showed up post show. Anyways, they do all sorts of ?surprise? acts such as Tom Petty and other big name stars. And speaking of stars, you most definitely will rub shoulders with someone famous. So go to the Viper Room, prepare to rock, drink until you fall over, try to survive and definitely don?t pass out on the front sidewalk.

PROS: MICKEY'S GRENADES. Any place with these is a 5 star lock. Small venue
CONS: It sells out, and people have been known to die here

The venue itself is a GREAT place to see a show. It's small and it's 21 and over so you don't get the hijinks you get at all-ages shows (i.e. crowd surfing, moshing, annoying kids pushing their way to front). And in recent years, their security isn't as strict. Now you can bring in cameras which years ago was like carrying a gun to the security folks. However, it suffers too much from the whole Sunset Strip/scenester/velvet rope vibe. While waiting to get inside the venue, someone will ask if anyone is "on the list" and those people usually enter first and don't have to pay, while those of us actually paying are left outside. Now, I know this is the way it's at EVERY venue but here's it's more pronounced.

I saw Mat Kearney here a few weeks ago, and I have to say it was one of my most memorable concert experiences to date. The show sold out at the door (there's only room for maybe 200 in there), and the fact that it's 21+ means you won't have to deal with a bunch of 15-year olds trying to push their way to the front (personal pet peeve). Drinks are reasonable and it's pretty classy. I've never been there during the weekend club-mode (that's when it becomes velvet rope time and I probably wouldn't get in / wouldn't want to get in anyway), but it's definitely worth hitting if one of your favorite acts is playing there.

PROS: Park behind the Whisky-A-Go-Go ... only a block away and just $7.
