I love this museum. It is so different from most art museums-- not just in the collection, obviously there is a more narrowed collection here given the museum's focus, still-- the collection does not suffer for it. The works here are captivating. I especially find studying the intricate netsuke carvings the most magical part of a visit to the museum. What is perhaps the most lovely activity there is just sitting in the lovely courtyard and enjoying the almost out-of-body sensation of having floated over to Kyoto on your lunch hour! Don't forget to check out the library on the second floor in the courtyard-- you can pick up some great bargains!

Beautiful interior with select, quality pieces, representing many different Asian cultures. Often hosts free cultural festivals in its courtyard, complete with food sales, live demonstrations, costumes, and kids coloring pages. Festivals are very crowded because courtyard is so small and confined. Courtyard is beautiful with Bonsai trees and koi fish pond.
PROS: Beautiful museum & courtyard
CONS: Small area can get very crowded
