In Short
This SoCal mini-chain uses blond-wood tables, cheery primary-colored details and piped-in hits from Sinatra to Armstrong to bring new meaning to the phrase "happy meal." Families and low-key diners are endlessly plied with herb-encrusted focaccia and olive oil. Wood-fired pizzas are topped with California-style ingredients (bean sprouts, Asiago cheese). Other Americanized Italian fare includes lunchtime favorites like finely chopped salads and dinner entrees such as grilled salmon with artichoke relish and a slate of seasonal pasta dishes.

Everything on the menu is delicious. You can't go wrong with anything you decide to order. I like their salads they are light but filling. There chicken dishes are tasty too.

Louise's

by Katherine M. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 314

Louise's BBQ chicken chopped salad is really good. It is full of flavor, light but filling. I've also tried pastas and pizza, all good. The bread is excellent. The atmosphere is nice, it's a very classy place and has a nice patio area. It is a little pricey, the salad is @$12.00 alone. But nice for special occasions or a need to self-spoil.

Been coming here over 10 years

by melmeloh

We've been coming to this Louise's location consistently for over ten years and been constantly impressed my the excellent food and service each time. Our favorite waitress is Seniat - ask for her if you get a chance. I love eating on both the patio and the inside of the restaurant - both offer great dining atmosphere.

great lunch special

by hbruces

The soup and salad lunch special here is the best - so many great options to choose from. My wife ordered the crab cake appetizer, which is reasonably priced and exceptionally good. We'll definitely be back and we recommend this place for a great, affordable, and delicious lunch.

Pros: price, food, very affordable

other restaurants take note!

by edithg

Our favorite waitress, Senait, is amazing! For over 10 years she has been our server as she changed locations - we've followed her from place to place. The entire team of staff members is wonderful here - other restaurants need to take note!

Pros: Senait

Cons: absolutely none!

great service, food presentation

by mteresad

I enjoyed my experience at Louise's from start to finish. When we were greeted at the door, the hostess was very friendly and welcoming - being remembered at the restaurant is always a plus. The taste and presentation of our meals were really impressive and the service was excellent as well. I'm always interested in coming to Louise's to see what kind of specials they are offering - daily, weekly, or otherwise.

Pros: specials, service, etc

Cons: none

Bad service, bad food

by mcfin

I haven't had such bad service in a long time. The server brought our wine and appetizer then disappeared for over forty five minutes. We finally asked the bus boy what happened to our meals and he acted surprised that we had food coming. Five minutes later the manager showed up and said we would be treated to free dessert for waiting so long. A couple of minutes later the server showed up with our meals. She tried to pretend nothing was wrong but our evening was already ruined. There is no excuse for waiting one hour for a meal to be prepared. The food was bad: the pasta doughy tasting and the parmigan was greasy. They even burned the focacia bread. The Larchmont location is much better. Will never return to this restaurant.

Pros: Nice decor

Cons: Bad service

Ordinary

by riceandfries

Nothing outstanding about this place. Our food was served cold and looked unappetizing. The Chicken Parmigiana was bland, Italian Meatloaf was plain, and the menu was boring. The only thing delicious was the focaccia bread - served warm and tasty.

Pros: Complimentary Bread

Cons: Food

Good value for great portions

by jtiger

Had dinner here . Their warm foccacia bread is always yummy! The kids menu is pretty good and the prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you get. They were happy eating pep. pizza and chicken strips with wagon wheel shaped pasta. The crab cakes were mediocre. We shared a full serving of the Goat Cheese w/ sundried tomato salad which was excellent! I ordered the veg. lasagna which tasted like a Lean Cuisine meal. My mom got the Paparedelle w/ Sausage which is always good. My husband got the Fettucini w/ Chicken & Sundried Tomato. It's good but sometimes it's on the greasy side. They are good at refilling drinks without being asked and are very prompt w/ seating, food service and the check. It's not the greatest food but with our 6 and 4 year old, they loved it. The patio area is nice and refreshing.

Pros: Prompt, Excellent service, Great value

Why is this restaurant Zagat rated??

by christinek167

The pasta here sucks! The pasta is not cooked al dente and is rather overcooked. The bolognese was average, and the linguini that my sister had tasted like greased boiled noodles with a few chopped tomatoes thrown it -- absolutely tasteless and according to her (and me) the worst pasta dish we've ever had! The spaghetti and meatballs had no flavor either and the meatballs tasted exactly like Chef boyardee! The meal was a total ripoff and I feel so utterly disappointed. oh well, at least the bread was good.

Pros: good bread, ambience

Cons: horrible pasta, very overpriced

This place is so OVER. People love this place because it is cheap. Well, sorry but the food and service always stink. Even if you get a coupon in the mail it is not worth it.

Oily sauces, overcooked meats - no thanks.

Pros: ambiance, outdoor seating

Cons: food stinks, actors playing waiter

Love this place

by mb1919

I'm not usually a fan of the chains but this one is back on track! The Parpadelle with Sausage is the best pasta in town and the price is right. I have it delivered at least twice a week. Good food always.... Louise's is still great.

Pros: Delivery, Parking, Patio

Great lunch!

by vitalej

I had the pleasure of dining at Louise's for lunch this past week. This was my first visit and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I started off with the mussels. They were delicious! The remainder of the lunch was equally good.

My only disappointment was that I could not participate in the desert selection.

I will return.

Pros: good service, great food, reasonable prices

Hidden Treasure

by mon1008

Yes they are a chain, but at least one that has the focus on the food. The ambience leaves a little to be desired, but they are next to the Derby so that makes up for it. Consistent value and good food. A

Great Location

by taradelis_citysearch

I'm not a big fan of chain food, but there's something to be said for Louise's, especially if you're enjoying one of their meals in a private booth at the Derby or if you take advantage of their delivery service. I haven't done the latter in awhile and I think you have to live fairly close to the restaurant, but yes, they will deliver. Most times I did this I was very happy with their service, though once they must have confused my order with someone elses because what I got was completely different than what I requested. They did bring me my real order as soon as they could get another driver over, and in the meantime I tried items I would have probably never eaten otherwise (they were good!).

Pros: nice at the derby, they have delivery

Cons: it's a chain, pricey for quality

Solid Italian Fare

by rchorner

It's probably not going to blow you away, but it's very consistently GOOD. I think I am addicted to the Papardelle (egg noodles and sausage). Salads are great (the goat cheese and sun dried tomato in particular) and service is superb. Great place to take your kids or to take family when they're in town. The Derby is right next door, so it can get kind of loud if they have a band playing and you're dining past 8pm.
