This is THE place to go after a day of volleyball or other activities at the beach. It's just a few steps away from the pier. What more could you want? The place is very small but usually everyone is friendly and rubbing elbows won't hurt. The food is pretty darn good - there is a large appetizer menu. The drinks are good as well and the bartenders and staff are friendly. Prices are pretty standard for any beach area bar. Has a great view of the ocean from one of the bar areas if you can get to it before someone else does!

Shellback is a Manhattan Beach staple-- after a day at the beach it's a great, convenient location to grab a refreshing beer! It is definitely a dive bar, but they play great music and the vibe is very low key and fun. If you are drunk, or

The location doesn't get any better than this. Sip your beer while gazing out at the Manhattan Beach Pier and the masses of sunbathers, surfers, and volleyball players that stroll by. Shellbacks fits solidly in the "dive bar" category with tv's mounted in every corner and the sickly sweet scent of stale beer that adds to the general ambiance. If you want swank, go up the street to Towne. Stick around here for a good post-beach beer drinking hangout.

Shellback is a good sports bar on Manhattan Beach Blvd. They have a large projection TV, which is great for watching football games. Overall the food is okay, but the burgers are awesome! I believe they use fresh hamburger (never been frozen) to make the burgers, which obviously make them especially good. Also, I have always found the service to been very friendly and attentive. They really make you feel like you're at home when you go there. Overall, I consider Shellback one of the best sports bars in the South Bay and definitely worth going to for the burgers!

Shellback is a good place to go to for some good food and drinks. The bartenders are very friendly and the music (jukebox) is always loud and good. Gets crowded late at night though. The bathrooms need some work. Are usually swamped on weekends, the bathrooms (yuck) and the bar.

PROS: close to beach, fun crowd
CONS: gross bathrooms

Great beach bar during the day....but get out before the sun goes down as the more seedy beach 'drunks' take over at night

This is my absolute favorite bar in LA. Where else can you go and look dressed up just because you don't have a stain on your t-shirt? A Cheers-like bar frequented by local yuppies and old-timers who have been belly-up to the bar since

One of those bars where you want to just kick back, have a good beer and not have to deal with trendy or college type people. The crowd is pretty mellow and mature. Just one of those places to hang out with good friends and have a cold

Just up from the pier, the Shellback has a view of the promenade and of beach volleyball games. Owner Bob Beverly's menu offers everything from burgers to burritos. The Tuesday night New York steak special is a local favorite, and tacos…
