Horrible vets, horrible reputation in the veterinary community  1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

This place can't even call itself an animal hospital - It's an "animal care center" . My dog died because of Dr. Ivers incompetence. My pet should never have died and was sadly euthanized at another facility when I took her for a second opinion. They even said I should never have taken her to Crown Valley. I would drive any number of miles to another facility rather than take my pet here. I met not one, but 5 other individuals in the area that have had similar experiences- two resulting in death. Beware. Check with your regular vet for where they would send you for emergency services, I bet it's not Crown Valley Animal Care Center.

If you love your pet - Don't go there!!  1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

We brought out dog in on a Sunday morning, he was really sick. Dr. Ivers said that he would run some test and said it would cost about $600 and then wanted an extra $1000 just in case. We agreed. The next day we called and Dr. Iver said that he was eating and went for a walk. The next day I was told that he could be release, unfortunately the bill was over $4,000. They never called, nothing. I payed the bill and was told that they would bring our dog to us. What a shock - they carried him on a stretcher - said he had trouble walking on the tile floors. I brought him home - carried him into our kitchen - my wife started crying as we watched our dog throwing up blood. He died withing 10 min of arriving home. - Dr. Iver called the next day and said that he was sorry and would pay the unauthorized charges - he never did - So don't go there if you love your pet.

Dr. Adams might be a little biased  1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

Firstly, I would have found Dr. Adams post to be very helpful had I not found out that she is married to Dr. Ivers.
I will share my, very similar, experience with would be clients. My dog was sick, a little vomiting and some diarrhea. A Neighbor had recommended Dr. Ivers. First, he was almost 1 hour behind just to see me. Second, I found his Nike jump suit to be a little unprofessional. Still my dog was sick and she needed help. He examined her and gave me an explanation of what was going on. Sounded very serious and dangerous so I agreed to the tests and the treatment. My $2500 estimate seemed like a small price to pay for such a serious condition. 4 days later she was discharged to me appearing to be in good health. I got several medications to go home, some of which she was supposed to need for life (I guess). Now the fun began. My estimate was off by a couple thousand dollars. I was upset that no one contacted me about being way over estimate. I demanded to see Dr. Ivers, he was not available, so I demanded he contact me, he never did. Upset but still happy because my pet was healthy so I went on to allow this dispute to be settled later. A couple days later she was sick again. I had to take her to an emergency clinic for care. The multiple veterinarians who saw her were very polite. They didn't want to say what was wrong but I got the impression that they were trying not to give me their full opinion. I started questioning more specifically if Dr. Ivers treatment had something to do with it. They were very uncomfortable answering those questions and simply stated, after pressing them, that they might have done things differently. How about the medications, well they all recommended stopping must of them and probably should not need them anyway. Come to find out from the staff that this is not the first time that a crown valley animal care center patient has showed up after "extensive" treatment that was "probably unnecassary". I asked the doctors about this and they confessed to not wanted to judge another vets plans but that they would have done things very differently. How differently? Perhaps even outpatient. What does that mean, try some bland food and some injections, maybe $200.
I beg anyone who goes there to get a second opinion before agreeing to thousand dollar treatments. For those who wrote the glowing reviews, I am glad you feel he saved your pet. I felt that way too until I found out a few things.
My story is very similar to many found on other review sites. This is not an isolated case this is a pattern. Shame on you Dr. Ivers for preying on pet owners fears and using your confidence to run up extraordinary bills.
I have never boarded my animals there but upon further research I am glad that I never have. There is no AC in the dog kennels during the extrememly hot summers! The kennels you see throught the glass look nice but not the ones behind closed doors.
Buyer beware!

Mistreatment  1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

Crown Valley Animal Care Center, Laguna Niguel has been the place where I take my dog to every time he has a problem or when I go on vacation I board him there. This place is expensive so I felt as if I was paying for the best, however, I was wrong. Just this weekend I left my english bulldog in their care while I was on vacation. When I came back to pick him up it was as if he had been beaten up. He has a bloody, fat, black eye and scrapes on his face. I could not believe it when I picked him up. I basically paid for my dog to be beaten up. In addition after complaining and speaking with even the director Sharon all I received was to have the eye looked at, an ointment, and 1 nights stay comped however he was there for 4 nights, probably the worst of his life. I will never take my dog here again and do not advice anyone else to leave their pet in the care of Crown Valley Animal Care Center!

So thankful  5 Star Rating - World class

Dr. Iver's and his staff are so wonderful. They are all so caring and kind to their clients and animals. Dr. Iver's I owe so much to. He has saved my Italian greyhound. My little girl was so sick and he diagnosed her and she recived the right treatment and care. Dr. Iver's is so dedicated to his patients and staff. It is rare to find such a perfect balance. The staff was with my girl 24 hours a day. They were all so kind through all my phones calls and my concern. Dr. Iver's always went out of his way to talk to me,and explain all of his finding's. Our animals are so lucky that we have a Dr. that is so involved and truley love's what he does. The staff I owe so much to. I am so thankful for all of them. They are so busy, but take the time with all of their clients. If you need a great Dr. and the best facility to take your animals to, please dont hesitae because Crown Valley Animal Hospital is the best. Thank you Dr. Iver's and all of you that took such great care of my Bella. I am so at peace just knowing I have all of you here for all my animals For the review the one person wrote I so disagree with you Dr. Iver's is the best he gives 100% to all his patients. I have had two different times that my dog was brought to the hospital in an life emergencey and Dr. Iver's saved her life. He is the best and so is the hospital. Thank God they were and are here for us!!!!!

Do not go to CV AH  1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

Our dog had pancreatis and Dr. Ivers and his staff prescribed very aggressive and extremely expensive treatment. After 5 days and $5k my dog was fine. I have since visited many vets, one of which even reviewed the initial lab tests, and it is everyone's general opinion that such an aggressive treatment was not needed. It is a shame that they prey upon pet owners like they do.

They are known in the vet. industry as having a horrible reputation.

I caution anyone who goes there to get a second opinion before proceeding with any major treatments.

CVACC is an amazing hospital to work  5 Star Rating - World class

In response to the last post, I am extremely disappointed and shocked that any veterinarian worth their weight would go back and comment on a case that they had no involvement in. As in all walks of life, it is very easy to play Monday night quarterback, especially after a succesful outcome...only to claim that you could have done it faster and better also with a successful outcome.
After doing what we refer to as relief work in other practices, I have returned to Crown Valley Animal Care Center (CVACC). It is because of the extremely high quality of practice that we enjoy. For example, yes, you can get a spay or neuter done elsewhere cheaper. However, ask a few questions about the procedures that we at CVACC practice with the best intentions of taking every possible risk out of anesthesia....all animals placed under sedation have in-house bloodwork performed prior to anesthesia, an IV catheter is placed(a life line in case of an unexpected reaction), they are placed on fluids to maintain pressures, monitored with a continuous ECG, CO2/oxygen saturation, ventilator if needed, placed on a BAER hugger air flow body heater if needed, have an overnight nurse monitoring all patients withing the hospital, receive aggressive pain management, etc.
We have no apologies for not cutting corners. The old saying 'you get what you pay for'. Also Dr. Ivers and myself, Dr. Adams, attend numerous continuing education meetings each year (not only the easy local) but travel throughout the country to attend the more cutting edge, state of the art meetings including the annual Emergency and Critical Care convention.
I would be happy to entertain any questions that you may have.
Sincerely, Dr. Deborah Adams 949.495.1123

Saved my puppy and kept me calm  5 Star Rating - World class

This place was not my regular vet, but when my puppy was badly injured on two different occasions, they were the ones that came to our rescue. They were open when my other vet was not. We were able to rush in and were helped right away by a very calm and supportive staff. They were able to save my dog twice, and both times I had complete faith in what they were doing and how they were treating my poor dog. When I had to leave my dog with them overnight, I knew that she would be in very good hands. Everyone I have had contact with there has been so nice, and had a gentle loving nature about them.

PROS: Open during hours most other vets aren't, and have a great staff!
CONS:

Dr. Adams is the best!  4 Star Rating - Very good

Prices are often very good and they've been around for a very long time. Dr. Adams is a wonderful vet. We try and stick with Dr. Adams because, unfortunately, we haven't had good experiences with all of the DVM's at this facility. We have never boarded our dog here, but it looks like a nice boarding facility. Each pet has a "room," rather than a cage, with beds and other creature comforts. The cats have TV's and catwalks.

PROS: Open all night for emergencies

Good place  4 Star Rating - Very good

If you need to drop off your pet for a while when you go on vacation or take a break, this place is exactly what you want. They hold your pet for you while you are gone and take great care of it. The pricing is easily affordable and the location is really convenient. Great place, highly recommended.

Very caring  4 Star Rating - Very good

The location is great, the staff is friendly and the place is clean. The wait time can be long with an appt, but the care seems very genuine and worth the wait.
