This restaurant in Glendale was convenient to the hotel we are staying at. We walked in at 10:30 PM on the day we arrived and was seated immediately. I was using a walker but they didn??t treat me as handicapped and put me in a table in the middle of the room. I appreciated that.. They sat us down at a regular table and allowed my walker to sit out of the way.
I am on a restricted diet, no dairy, which is difficult for going out in the best of times. But they were very accommodating. Nancy our waitress had a good understanding of what was in the food I was ordering. We had turkey meatloaf, which was OK, a bit too smooth for my taste, but it was tasty. It came with vegetables and mashed potatoes and gravy. Since I was avoiding dairy they allowed a substitute of a baked potato, and she didn??t blink when I said nothing on it. I can usually get by with salt and pepper to replace the dairy tastes. They have divine zucchini bread that is made at the restaurant! The baked potato was a bit overdone, but it was an hour before closing. And the veggies were perfection! Large cut zucchini, broccoli and carrots that were sauted to perfection! Not overcooked at all! Though they were done in butter, I make exceptions. Next time I'll ask for them to be steamed and see what happens.
Also, when we were leaving, I mentioned we were staying nearby and the waitress not only give us a 15% discount for that but gave us each a punch card to get a free meal after 7 paid meals.
Nancy checked with us frequently to make sure we didn??t need anything and kept our drinks full. She definitely earned the tip she got! Nancy usually has Sunday and Monday off.
This is a restaurant with great service (at least late at night) and fair food! Though I thought 10.95 was a bit high for meatloaf, even if it is made of turkey, but the veggies made up for that.

This is like your everyday diner. They serve a variety of food from sandwiches to steak. Last time I went here I got a hamburger which came with soup, bread, and desert.

I used to eat here almost everyday when I lived close to Shakers. However, over the years things change, and for this eatery, not for the better. I came here based on what my past experience has been PLUS I had an Entertainment Coupon for up to $8 off! The hot chocolate was nothing more than hot water with a powder mix (very weak). My coffee was luke-warm! I guess they didn't want to take the chance of me burning myself and suing the place. While waiting for the meal to arrive, the waitress brought by someone's credit card (that someone saw and flagged her down). When the food arrived, I said "Doesn't the Chicken Penne come with chicken in it?" Yes it does, half way through the meal. It looked like the kind you'd buy out of the freezer section of the supermarket with the grill lines already in it. Dried out and cold. I could have summed up this whole review in one word: YUCK!

Hungry late at night? Don't want to go to Denny's? This place is very low key. The food is good. Prices are average. I like it better than many other restaurants that are open late.

Awful - if you want something other than a breakfast, forget it - find somewhere else.

I had the misfortune of eating their this evening; ordered a cheese steak with coleslaw and a side salad. Despite being wrapped in plastic, the little breadsticks they give with the salad were stale. Nearly a third of the meat of the cheese steak was undercooked, in some places even barely cooked, being chewy and red still. The cheese, though listed on the menu as jack, had absolutely no flavor whatsoever - it looked like translucent snot melted over the meat. The whole cheese steak was bland and flavorless, so much so that I had to keep loading it with salt and pepper to get some taste into it. The coleslaw had a yellowish tinge to it and a sickly bitter, sweet taste to it, which I thought was pineapple; however, when I told the hostess who rang my check up that there was too much pineapple in the slaw, she said that they don't put ANY pineapple in the coleslaw. I suggested that they toss that batch of slaw out, since it appears to have started to go bad. The other waitress behind the counter looked a bit grossed-out during the whole exchange. Just thinking that I ingested a bowl full of old cole slaw is nauseating.

This isn't the first time I've been disappointed by this place during dinner - last year I ordered a side of chicken with mashed potatoes and the standard vegetable. The chicken was dry, the mashed potatoes were barely mashed (still with big lumps and chunks in them), and the vegetable showed up covered in a sick orange glop which the waitress told me was "a curry sauce." I gave the veg back to her and said I wasn't about to eat anything that looked like that.

The breakfash. ts are standard - nothing you wouldn't find at any greasy spoon between here and New York City. Even if you chance eating their breakfast, prepare yourself for burned-tasting coffee to wash it down.

Pros: Open late hours.

Cons: The food is bad.

Shakers has great omlets, pancakes, and waffles. My co-workers and I go for lunch when we're craving breakfast food. Service is quick and they have more variety than your typical chain restaurants.

This place has loaves of ZUCCHINI BREAD that are out of this world! Take some home and buy some for friends. Warm a slice in the microwave for 15 seconds and spread some whipped cream cheese on top. Heaven on earth!

Shaker's is a great substitute to the generic chain competition that is open in the wee hours of the night. Whenever I feel like having something a little more than the neighborhood taco truck at 2am, I head on over to shaker's in Glendale. Decent prices, decent food, decent service. I recommend trying the Chicken Parmessian! Not the biggest portion mind you, but quite tasty nevertheless!
