In Short
There are lots of tables and bar stools available, making this a comfy spot to watch games on one of the dozen monitors. Beer advertisements abound on brick walls and even furniture become ads here. A Jack Daniel's label decorates three pool tables, while everything from a Goodyear tire displayed like a trophy to a Warholian-like poster of Dennis Rodman add kitschy touches. Twenty draft beers, an Internet jukebox and an outdoor patio are also available.

Key Points

  • NFL, NCAA, NBA, MLB
  • Daily Specials
  • Wednesday Night = Trivia Night

The Inside Scoop

  1. Save Money - Happy hour (weekdays, 4pm-7pm) features rotating beer specials, such as $2.50 Molson drafts.
  2. Know Before You Go - There are often drink deals after happy hour has ended, such as $6 for a Jager shot and Molson draft.
  3. Parking - There's a pay garage on Ellis and Ofarrell, within one block of the bar.

love it

by Suzie G. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 809

It gets crowded but it's a fun place. My husband has sampled probably all of their 18 beers. I like the appetizers and the loud crowd. It's also great when the Giants are on tv live from Los Angeles.

This is the place to be

by KRG2326

The Union Square is my home away from home while in the bay area on business. After a long day you hang out at the Union and it all comes together. Bring a firend and it is twice as nice. If you don't have a friend I can assure you that you that you just might leave with one.

Cheers!

Pros: Friendly, personal feel

Cons: Can't be here every night

Watch Out for Anita - a wanna be bartender.

by WolvyMan

Watch Out for ANITA -- This retard, Immature, Bitchy, hard to please drama queen, damn if you do - damn if you dont, "WANNA" be bartender, cant /dont even know how to mixed drinks, a Male Hater. She's rude and obnoxious to locals and tourist alike. To get a better tip, she will overcharged you for a non stiff drink esp if she knows youre to drunk, and dont say thank you. Shes the short latina woman, mostly on wed, thur, fri, schedules.

Instead asked for Kate( red/brownish hair) Brelan ( short blonde hair) Ashley ( dark, curly short haired irish woman) and Angie ( long, dark, curly ) or Jackie ( long blonde hair) These women are ALL nice, they will accomodate you and they know how to be a bartender.

Cheers!

Pros: New convenient location, Long bar.

Cons: Anita - A Male Hater !!

Cool Lil' joint

by richpolote

Right in the middle middle a just the right amount of action in San Fran. Its a nice lil' bar you can kick it at and just chill and play a couple of games of pool if ya wish. Definitely one of the places i love to go and just lay low in the city...

Pros: Cool azz bartenders homely enviroment its a tight bar!!!

Cons: Could be a lil' bigger but thats minor stuff

A dive bar without character

by friendofsf

It was disappointing. More like a frat house party than a good divey bar with pool tables. Probably good for tourists but much better places abound in this city. The only attraction here are the three pool tables completely separate from the bar area and the convenient location.

The bar staff would do well to improve their professionalism.

Pros: pool tables, location

Cons: staff, drinks, atmosphere

Outstanding Bar

by doubler1

This bar has it all from hot chicks to strong drinks. You get the occasional drinker claiming he plays for the Giants, but who ever heard of JT Snow anyway? But all and all an enjoyable experience.

Pros: Bartenders, Atomosphere, TV's

Cons: Price, Locale

Awesome Bar

by AaronBuer23

The bartenders were fast and curtious. The girls in here were hotter than hell and the music was kicking. I went on DJ night when San Jose' DJ J-Fletch was spinning like a madman. Pro Wrestler Suga Bear Wolgomott was in attendance and that probably attracted a lot more females. All and all I would highly recomend this bar.

Pros: Celebs, Service, Music

Cons: Price, Bathroom lines, Overcrowded

Sports bar?

by tommypickle

The name is quite deceptive. Sure, you've got big TV's showing news or sports when it's on, but this is really just a cool neighborhood hangout. The bartenders and people are always friendly, serve good drinks, and do whatever they can to make you feel comfortable. One of those places where you can end up a regular after 2 visits.

Crowd ranges from confused jocks who want to hang out with their frat brothers (i.e. this is a sports bar??), tourists who wandered off from their tour group, to just random cool locals hanging out, smoking outside, and ordering random strong drinks from the cute bartenders. Oh, and telling the bumbs to keep on moving...

This seems to be a place I always end up at towards the end up the night because, while always lively, it isn't ultra crowded/trendy like some other places.

Pros: Good Strong drinks

Cons: Panhandlers
