Stanford Driving School is great. You wont have any problems with scheduling the lessons if you follow the plan that they set up. I did my first lesson in December, second lesson in February and then did my last lesson in July just before I got my license. Passed on the first attempt. Thanks Danny!

We live on the border of Los Gatos/Campbell/San Jose & my 15yr old wanted to take Stanford Driving Schools online course. A family friend went to this school & was very happy with his results. I researched this particular school, its reputation & standards. I was also concerned about the instructors & the maintenance of the vehicles. Once I felt comfortable I also asked if after my child completes the online course successfully do they do the behind-the-wheel in my area? It turns out they are licensed to do online in the state of California & they do behind-the-wheel from Redwood City down to Los Gatos & most of San Jose. All things checked out! He signed up completed the online & scheduled his behind-the-wheel. I was quite simple once we understood the process. He was picked up at our home each time & given excellent instruction. I was impressed with his driving confidence & knowledge of the vehicle & the road when I drove with him. After driving with me for 5 months I then scheduled his Drivers Test 30 days before he turn 16. Of course he wanted to go on his birthday. Prior to the driving test date his Stanford Driving School instructor took him out & covered everything that would probably come up during the road test. Once we went to the Los Gatos DMV I was just as nervous as my son. Off he went with the DMV test person & I waited. About 15-20 minutes later they returned & my son gave me a thumbs up :) It turns out he missed 3 out of a possible 15. I feel my time was not wasted in researching Stanford Driving School & my money was well spent.

This school did a great job from the office staff to the instructor. They also did extra freeway time with my child. I would recommend this school to anyone my only advice would be to know your child's schedule weekends fill up fast. I

Okay- first of all they don't have enough instructors and when calling the school you will experience complete and utter frustration when trying to get a slot. Even calling 1 month ahead they did not have ANY slots that would not necessitate me taking my daughter out of school... Huh!? This is after I bought the 8 hour package!! We cannot get a slot before my daughter is due to take her driving test!! I will NEVER go back.

Aside from being expensive, the instructors are rude, the office is unorganzied and it takes weeks to get an appointment. Check around before settling

Pros: Worked around my sons schedule and 1st lesson was a good experience!

There are only two drivng instructors worth getting, both men. One also teaches the driver education class. The other is the best overall. Cars, office, classroom are all good. Friends say it improved last year.

Pros: Nice Cars

Cons: Expensive, insufficient number of instructors

We asked to pay by the lesson but were told we needed to pay for all lessons in package deal up front. After the first lesson, they told us we needed to wait 10 weeks for the next one! Then after that they were still unable to schedule any lessons for several weeks. The scam is that they take your money, but don't have sufficient instructors for the amount of lessons they commit to.

After reviewing the last comment I totally disagree. I had a daughtert who recently took the classroom and behind the wheel instruction from Stanford Driving School and I must say that a good instructor must observe the students driving skills to be aware of their abilities and to be aware of what bad habits they might have picked up from their parents.

As far as the instructors are concerned I know as a fact that the instructor who instructed my daughter was well qualified for the job and had his credentials in line.

As a parent if I my suggest you check out the school throughly before sending your child! I have friends who have used other driving school and have had far worst experiencces.

I highly recommend Stanford Driving School!

I absolutely agree with the previous negative review. Not only the experience was discouraging and frustrating, it was almost useless. The instructor didn??t teach anything, he rather checked out kid??s current skills giving rude and derogatory remarks. I can??t give you the instructor??s name for he didn??t bother to introduce himself, let alone to return ??hello? or ??good bye?. Unfortunately the good instructor mentioned in the previous posts doesn??t work at the school anymore, so be prepared for tears and necessity to pay for another REAL driving school?

I do not recommend you taking this school at all. Not only are they more expensive bu my daughter would come home completely down after every lesson. The instructor was Danny and he has almost no patience...begins swearing at her easily for doing the wrong thing. Long story short, a very discouraging experience.

PROS: Updated cars/
CONS: Expensive/Unpatient Instructors and Secretary/ Very busy calendar.

Stanford Driving School makes it easy to teach your child to drive. They offer the driver's education classes and the 6 hours of behind the wheel that is necessary. There is a discount if you buy both parts.

This is a terrible driving school I paid for 6 hours. The first two hours the driver didn't show up and didn't call me (claimed he got the wrong number). The second two hours the driver got the address wrong. Finally got two lessons,

Any driving class is bound to be boring. This class is no different from the ones you go to just to avoid getting a point on your license. Your kids will go there and try to last long enough before taking the written exam. They do a good job prepping you for the written test, some classes they will even take the actual DMV test there.

Not much to say, standard fare.

I have mixed feelings about this driving school. My friends and I agree that one's experience with the school depends on who you get as an instructor. I've had a really bad instructor once who took every turn to mock and make me feel terrible about my driving. However, I complained and had a different instructor named Bill, who was a great teacher. I got my license after about 4 classes with Bill. The prices for driving lessons are quite expensive compared to a private instructor.

PROS: Can arrange DMV test for you and lend you the car for your test
CONS: Expensive
