The owner Of Fort Knox is a total Jerk and thats is being real nice.I went into his shop to get some coins appraised. They wanted to take the coins into the back room and apprise them, while I waited at the counter at the front of the shop.I kindly objected to taking my coin to the back with out my presences. The next thing I know the guy said," he should pop me in the nose"I should trust him he been at this for a long time. The guy is a jerk trust me .Don't go there.

After going into Fort Knox and being told by the young male worker that they bought gold and silver jewlery, I was highly disappointed when I returned the next day. After a female worker named Linda examined and identified my bag of silver, she then plainly stated that they did not buy silver. There is a clear sign stating that they buy silver and gold in the window of the shop. After questioning Linda about the sign in the window and the fact that we were clearly told by a worker that silver was bought , Linda still insisted that they did not buy silver. So I would suggest, to those who want to be treated fairly, without partiality, to take their silver, gold and coins elsewhere.

I wanted to let people know that I had a great experience at Fort Knox of Alameda. I was named as Executor of the estate when my dear friend Louise died suddenly of a heart attack last May. She left word in her will to give some of her jewelry to several of her friends and sell the rest to pay her bills and settle the estate. She also had a coin collection of silver dollars from the mid-1800's. I took the jewelry and the coins to Fort Knox, and the owners, Linda and Mike, were really great. They paid me top dollar for the coins and the gold and silver jewelry, and were so nice and caring, they were very sensitive about the grief I was going through and handled everything very professionally but with a personal touch. Linda worked on the whole thing with me and was very efficient and knows everything about gold, silver, jewels, coins, etc. I would recommend her and Fort Knox very highly. I live in Berkeley and it is definitely worth the trip.

Fort Knox has been in Alameda since I was a kid. Around 16 years ago or so they did a wonderful repair service! Why? Fort Knox had a wonderful individual doing all their repairs. This person took my drawing and made a design out of gold for me as well as doing a fantastic repair with everything from rings to watches. I don??t recall his name. However, he was a good guy who kept this company afloat, while they paid him peanuts. The moment he left they went down hill. I don??t recall the individual??s name, but he and his wife own a jewelry store in Danville the last I heard. Hooray!

Fort Knox service is atrocious... It??s time for these folks to get out of the Jewlery business!!!
