I have purchased several pieces of furniture here over the years. The price is always significantly lower than other stores even if they are having a sale. The people are helpful in picking colors and fabrics. Since the pieces are ordered directly from the manufacturer they have little control over how long it takes. This would happen with any special order. House of Value also offers free deliver. I would suggest going on a weekday when they are not so busy.

My husband & I had been researching dining room sets -- we found a gorgeous one we both really loved at a popular very quality location. They gave us a quote (which they said was significantly discounted). Prior to purchasing it, a friend of ours mentioned that they had had great success at House of Values & we really should look into it. We were able to purchase the full Dining Room set thru House of Values at a significantly lower price. It was all delivered to our home as scheduled. We will definitely use them again!

I had a friend who bought a sofa from here and it took a really long time and then when it arrived it was poorly made and looked awful. It was also overpriced for the item that she got!

House of Values in San Mateo uses an interesting concept. They dont have nice showrooms, but they have tons of catalogues you can look through to find just what you want. Because they don't spend a huge amount of money on decorating the showrooms, their stuff is quite reasonably priced.
Roneys in San Leandro is similar, but the showroom is a lot nicer.

I support this store 100% because I've been going here forever. All the people who work here (seniors) always have a smile on their face and are always there to help you. This is a small second hand store, but you never know what you can find here. You can also donate stuff (books, toys, clothes, etc...) and they'll give you a receipt for tax purposes. You should check out this place, it's really cute and a great atmosphere.
