I have had nothing but trouble with Mangrove Vet. First off, I went to them first to get my female dog fixed and they wanted over $300 to do it! I called every single other vet in town to see how unreasonable this was, and the highest cost I got from all the others was about $150. Needless to say, I did not use their services. But then recently, my dogs regular Vet was closed for the holidays, so I had to use them again. My dog ended up costing in the neighborhood of $500, and was on four different medications. A few days later, my dog was getting worse, and I was beginning to see new symptoms. Thinking he was having an allergic reaction, I took him back in. The doctor told me that his new stuff must be whatever was originally wrong with him and that his problems were not an allergic reaction. When I took him back in again for our regularly scheduled appt 2 days later, my dog had gotten even worse. The doctors at Mangrove wanted to do a blood test ($120) and a biopsy (at least $500 she said) because they "had no idea" what was wrong with him. I declined their services and went to another vet, where they gave him a shot of a different antibiotic and he is completely fine 3 days later. He was having an allergic reaction to the meds and antibiotics Mangrove gave him. Had Mangrove pulled their head out of their asses and not been so concerned with getting an xmas bonus, my dog might have had the treatment he needed. Thank God I didn't let them run all their tests for another $600!!

.for a while they were owned by a couple who had drug problems ( true!) now the place is run by a bunch who charge a fortune and the tests which are so expensive show them nothing! I took two dogs in for tests - one was very sick - they found nothing wrong and she died a week later, the second they found nothing at all but my total bill was almost a $1000 in tests. Use your own judgement - they are open late in an emergency so maybe that would be Ok.
I dont trust them - it seems to be all about the money!

I have to say that when my regular vet could not see my pet for two weeks. I called around only Mangrove was able to see my very sick pet that same day. Matter of fact they told me to come right down. I have to admit there was a bit of a wait, but it was well worth it. As well as saving my best friends life they were very understanding to my feelings. My dog is better and back to himself. THANK you to the staff and Doctors that took care of my boy.

I have worked with a vet in my hometown since i was 5, and moved to chico for college, so i was very picky looking for a local vet. Mangrove puts people on hold for NO REASON! i have stood in their office and watched as they put people on hold and tand and chatter, and they charged me to take a urine sample from my dog by syringe, instead of using the urine when she peed from nervousness. and they were idiots with minor tests that drove myself and my home vet up the wall because they couldnt manage to send a fax. i have never even met the vet that saw my dog. i had to wait in the lobby. i know how a vet office should operate from experience, and this place should cease to operate, period.

My husband and I started going to Mangrove Vet Hospital because our current vet merged with this institution. I have nothing nice to say about them - they answer the phone and ask if it's an emergency - if you say no, they put you on hold . . . eternally. I took my newly adopted kitten to them for vaccinations and paid for the kitty pack at $203. She was old enough to have already missed the first exam but I still had to pay the full price. She did come down ill, they examined her one day and she died the next. They will not refund any of the money. We have 3 others pets that use regular vet care - so we're not talking only once in a while visits. I speak from experience.
