Pros: Good Beer/Service/food and great price

Cons: Not enough heat during winter months

i luv el guapo! i go all the time for football & whatever sports that i know hot guyz are going to be there. I ask for Sara the server every time, she always takes great care of us & she's really fun too. They have beer pong all the time & i always meet new great people. I've been when it's not so busy & really packed-usually consistent! The kitchen can take a while sometimes but it's usually when they're really busy so that's totally understandable.
Best place to let loose, act a fool, & have a blast w no judgment.
I recommend giving it a chance or another chance!

This is a great place to watch any sporting event. I was there to watch some football with my buddies, and was really shaocked at how many TV;s there were.

The bartenders were cool and the cocktail waitresses were pretty cute too...

They do all the UFC stuff too...and there's plenty of street parking and even vallet.

Pros: Great drinks- bartenders are really cool.

Cons: There's sometimes too many people there.

I went last weekend and had so much fun! They have a huge outdoor patio where you can watch all the games on big flatscreens. The food was really good, had great specials. The staff was really friendly too. Oh, and you can smoke on the patio and play beer pong!

There are a ton of tv's in this place! There is not a bad seat in the house--this place is huge, with the main restaurant on one side, a GREAT outdoor seating area in the middle (yeah smokers that's what I'm talking about!), and yet another bar area on the other side. You are sure to find other fans of your team, even if you come solo like I did. Lots of cool people! Even the bartenders and servers are all cool--I can't even get mad when my boyfriend stares at all of the hotties that work there--and that's saying a lot!

The owners ran the place into the ground. in fact, most of the reviews you see were posted by the workers, who were told they wouldn't get paid until they posted a good review. Most of us were robbed of tips and earnings. They kept telling us the restaurant would stay open until our last day, when they just said this was it.

Anywhere that actually has pitchers of beer and beer pong tables-count me in!! This is a great place to spend a Saturday/ Sunday afternoon with friends. My friends and I all went last Saturday to hang out, and we had a blast! We ended up playing beer pong all afternoon:). I hear that the happy hour and nights are awesome too, so we already have plans to go back.

Our server was great too-super friendly and quick with the replacement pitchers! I think his name was Chris. Anyway, see u there!

I was visiting from New York City when a friend took me to El Guapo. I loved watching all the football games outside on their MANY TV's. They had every game playing somewhere and the staff was very accomodating when helping me find a table where my team was playing. The food was good and inexpensive I would definitely recommend the nachos.

Ate here last night for Taco Tuesday! Tacos for a buck! I'm there!! This place has like a billion TVs. There's something on all the time for every sports fan. Ate inside because of the rain, but the outside patio seems like you might get some sun while sipping on a margarita. I will definitely be back for another Taco Tuesday, and soon! Oh, btw, I felt sorry for our server. If felt like every time he came to check in on us, we ordered more and more tacos. But we left him a good tip, he even came out and thanked us while we were leaving. :)

The table and The flat screen tvs set up are excellent. The Food, they do not have much on the menu but the food taste very delicious. For example, the enchilada is a good plate to eat and don't forget the chicken strips. The waitress service is good. However, I don't like the idea of drinking a margarita from a plastic glass, I prefer plastic cups. This plastic glass thing is not for me. Also, the tables are too loose and if you touch a table by accident you can drop any drink that is on the table.
Please Mr. Manager, Work on these issues and when you have your assistants talking to your employees telling to be professional.

We had good and friendly service from the wait staff during the fight . . . HOWEVER . . . .

After UFC 94, they staged a mock fight for a reality show(if that actually makes sense). We were told to move away from where we were standing or we could get hurt. No more the two seconds later, the sissy fight started and ketchup was spilled completely over two of my friends. We are talking covered in it. I'm assuming there was no permit for the 5 video cameras that were being used. We ask to talk to the manager. He could care less about our concerns. "What do you expect me to do about it? Stop wasting my time and get the f- out of my face?" He proceeded to shove/nearly assaulting my inquiring friend and continued to use a lot of profanity for no reason. The owners should know that this guy (with the panty liner for a hat) is a huge liability for the establishment. So much as if they do not hand over a resignation letter to him, this place could stripped of it's alcohol license in due time.

I see a legal matter in the near future if this manager continues to be employed here. I know this is not the first time he's been written up about either. I have heard numerous complaints from other people including his wait staff. I have watched the last 6 fights in a row here but can't return to your establishment. It is unsafe and a hazard if people do plan on coming in.

Pros: good place to watch a sports event

Cons: horrible customer service when speaking with management. Extremely rude!

i went on a sunday afternoon and i will never go again! The crowd is loud and random....and they always have some kind of event going on. The music is too loud.

Whenever I want top notch steak quesadillas and a strong margarita, El Guapo is a the first place that comes to mind. They always have games on and the place gets crazy packed during football and UFC fights. The people that come are cool - not the typical stuck up vibe that the superficial bars in Hollywood usually get. You can choose to sit inside or at the big patio they have outside (don't worry about it if it's cold out - they have heat lamps!). If you come on a weekend night you can always pick your own songs on the digital jukebox and create your own party. Nothing beats that! Also, they are having a New Year's Eve event and guest list is only $49.95! Just try finding it that cheap at any other bar in Hollywood!

Found myself feeling peckish down on Melrose so I stopped in to El Guapo for a quick bite and a beer.
It was early (3ish) had the fish tacos they were delicious as a matter of fact I ordered a second helping. The prices were fair for both drinks and eats, and my bartender was very sweet. (Even when she was busy!) The crowd was cool with many pretty ladies and the music was a cool mix of current and older hits.
I ended up staying until nearly closing time. I have been there before for football and fightnights in the past and I like the updates they have made, from the music to the decor. I usually prefer to imbibe at my own pace but when I go with my boys beer pong can be a alot of fun. For a chill atmosphere where you don't have to break the bank for a goodtime El guapo is the place for me.

El Guapo rocks!!! My friends and I get really tired of Hollywood and "the scene". When we want to hang out with some really chill people and let loose, this is where we go. The drinks are cheap and the staff is awesome. They have beer pong, fight night and football sundays. We literally go and watch EVERY game on sunday. FYI...caution on monday if you plan to do that. :)

So we're about a half mile away from El guapo a perfect post boozin stroll or quick cheap cab (which they have gladly called for us in the past) and went failrly often.. now the interior is red and comfy and very cool. Rock memorabilia adorns the walls from platinum records to cover art. Being a musician it combnes the best of all worlds for me. We like to go on sundays for the half price food after five !!!! and Guapo (read as 'happy') hour. The music is always great.. and the place is lively even when its not a game day. But it always CAN be cause of the beerpong.yay!. Not to mention it has a great big smoking patio, TONS of flat screens, and a busy yet always friendly and obliging staff. This place is great for parties.. like getting a group together and just mobbing a spot. The drinks are solid (thanks jim!!) and the super nachos .. the fajitas and the lettuce cups rock! All around a good neighborhood hang/2nd home to drink @.

Im fairly a regular customer at El Guapo, Ive been to every sportsbar in town.
Heres what I like about it. Theres always whatever game you want to watch on somewhere on a good TV. The food isnt bad, they have a large selection so youll probably find something on the menu. If not theres other restaurants right next door like Frankies and La LAs Argintinian and A NY pizza place across the street. Dont know if I should write that in a review but whatever its true. They also have a big patio right in the middle of the place (unlike any other sports bar in town) and there's no walls so I can smoke without leaving the place. The crowd is generally better than ANY other bar like in Hollywood. The staff isn't bad, there friendly for the most part. Most of them are actress like most places so you get what you'd expect.
If your looking for a lade back bar in Hollywood definitely give this one a try.

Like any other reviews on bars don't buy the ones that are really bad there angry bored people with nothing better to do and don't buy the ones that are too good they probably work there. S

The food was okay, for a sportsbar it was well above average. If you want high end food I wouldnt expect it at a sports bar unless your from Idaho or Victorville.
They have all the nfl games on sundays. Huge patio, staff looks pretty good. Its a real sportsbar they have alot of big plsma TVs everywhere. I was there for football on a sunday and ufc on a saturday and it was packed both times. Our servers looks were much better than her skills. Beer was cold.
Its on par with happyendings + a patio.

This busy and noisy establishment has proven to be consistently disappointing. Aside from it's great location and multiple large screen TVs, it has little to offer. Slow service is the norm! The food is so-so, and the beer is flat! Moreover, yesterday, the last straw for me, they stole my credit card. I called today to inquire and not only had a hard time getting through, but when I did, I received inadequate answers. I then found out that there were 3 fraudulent charges made on my card! This place is not friendly or responsible. Check out Lala's across the street or the Village Idiot for much better eats, or the Snake Pit for game time.

So check it: I was looking for a place to have a 30th birthday party and emailed El Guapo. I never heard back from them and ended up going to CineSpace instead. My party was on a Saturday night, and on my way back from Vegas Saturday afternoon at like 3:30, I get a voicemail. A lady's voice says, "Hey, this is _______ from El Guapo. We had you scheduled for a party of 15 tonight at 9. Whoever booked this made a mistake and we have an event tonight. All the tables will be full by 6. Sorry." Which didn't bother me, because I never scheduled the party anyway. However, they THOUGHT I did, and they cancelled it like that, the day of. If I HAD booked the party there, and sent out the text messages and the Evites and the emails, well, that's like feces on my head. It stinks.

Check out the review of this and many other happy hours at: happiest hours(dot)blog spot(dot)com - no spaces between words, but City Search won't allow it any other way. This place was cheap cheap cheap, the portions were HUGE and the food was full-on edible. My dining partner and I thought we'd start with two orders of taquitos (one beef, one chicken) and the melted queso dip then go on from there. Amateurs. We couldn't finish it. Any of it. The appetizer taquitos are large and come with full portions of rice and beans, plus generous scoops of sour cream and guacamole. This would be a meal for me on any given night. They also tasted good - not amazing, but not bad - and arrived at our table piping hot. The melted queso was very good, but it needs to be served in something that will keep it warm. By the time we got through that portion of the taquitos that we could eat, the cheese was starting to congeal a bit. My tip - order this first, then when you are sick of it, move on to other tastes. Others in our group got the nachos and claimed they were decent. From my vantage, they were the size of Mount Whitney (and also half price).

So - three giant appetizers, one beer, one iced tea (which never went empty) and with our usual big tip, the total was twenty bucks. That's right - a double sawbuck for two people to be stuffed and happy.

I call it the 'Cheers' of melrose bc i'm there all the time & it really feels like my neighborhood chill spot. Everything is really inexpensive & always consistently good. The bar used to be in the middle & i liked it but it was hard to move when it was crowded. They remodeled & it is so roomy now. It looks great! The servers & bartenders they have now are fa real on it! Before service was a lil slow, but now they are energetic, really personable & i don't have to wait for anything. I recently had Sara & she's the best server i've ever had!!! Lightening quick this girl & she joked with us the entire time.

El Guapo has been completely remodeled now! It looks awesome! I guess its a Rock n' Roll Cantina now which is awesome!
The bar is set back and there is plenty of space to walk around and mingle with all the awesome people that go there and that work there! The food they serve is way better than any other restaurant in and around that area! Not to mention the sweet jukebox! I've never seen one like it! It has old and new songs! Way better than the ones that aren't even updated! My boyfriend even loves it because they have tons of flat screens and they have the top sports games always on! We both had a great time and want anyone and everyone to know that its a great place and we definately recommend it!

Pros: EVERYTHING!

Cons: Nothing! It was alllllll good!

.

I've been to guapo in the past and it's been fun but there was always something kind of off. I went last week for a friend's party and WOW it has totally changed! It's not a mexican cantina anymore it's like a rock and roll club now! It has awesome music (not the same stuff you hear over and over again) and the waitresses were all super nice and hot! And unlike all the overrated clubs, you can come dressed up or dressed down and still have a fun time with your friends and the cool staff. My friend's birthday was so fun and we even got free shots! I'm not a huge football girl but they have a lot of TVs so game day will probably be packed. The new and improved Guapo looks like the place to be!

Just watched the olympics at the revamped "Guapo" have to confess i was impressed. Our bartender was not only cute and engaging, she poured some amazing cocktails. My turkey avocado wrap was delicious, my friend had the Guapo burger and said it was the best they had ever had.

ok so im not really the type to write reviews but i havn't been to El Guapo in a while and i just went there the other day and WOW!!! Its been totally remodeled and it looks awesome. Its got this rock and roll feel and its the sports bar ive been looking for. A cool atmosphere to hang while im watching the game. They have Hi def tv's on every wall, even on the patio. I had a specialty margarita and concidering im hard to please cause i hate sweet drinks, it was unbelievable. The fajitas were great, the margs were outstanding and the atmosphere is unlike any other sports bar. Needless to say, its a must!!!

The place has been completely remodeled since the last time I was there - definitely a plus. My buddies and I stopped off for a drink before we were supposed to meet up with some other friends for dinner but we ended up closing the place. Our lovely waitress passed around some sample shots that they were promoting and the next thing I know, it was last call. Not that I'm complaining. They've got some good eats - the carnitas burrito kicked a*s, and they whip up a fine margarita too.
I've been looking for a place like this for football season. They've got 15 -20 flatscreens and they promise me (by "they" I mean the same lovely waitress that I mentioned before) that they'll carry all the games. Now I know where I'll be on Saturdays and Sunday's this fall.

Pros: Great margaritas, the service, the new look

Cons: closes at 12 on Sundays, which in hindsight is probably a good thing

Wow! they totally remodeled el guapo and it's got a great rock n roll vibe! they have probably the best patio in the city! I had the best cheese enchiladas i ever tasted and our monster margaritas were awesome... tons of hi-def tv's that make sports amazing to watch and with football just around the corner -- i can't wait to come back here!

El Guapo is my new favorite place to go to wind down. They have just remodeled and the place is fantastic. They had half price appetizers until 7, and very reasonable drinks. The Monster margarita is a must. They had beer pong tables which gave us a great view of Melrose. We finally took a break to eat and watch the olympics on their HD TVs. I had the Turkey Wrap which was so good, and Jacob had the Philly cheese steak, which was amazing. The staff was super friendly. We had a great time and are definitely going back.

PROs: they are raffling off their old plasma TVs

I've been to El Guapo several times for happy hour. Margaritas are a must and the chicken quesadillas are amazing. They just remodeled the inside - the bar is now lining the back wall and it looks really cool. They also added a digital jukebox with a ton of different kinds of music. It's always nice to have some sort of control over the music played in a place! There's also an outdoor patio, which is a big plus. I usually end up going to El Guapo with guys because there are about a million flat screen TVs all showing different sports channels. I don't care that much about all that but it's a huge draw for sports fans. You can also play beer pong here, which I've never seen in a restaurant before. Overall, a great place to head to with a group of friends!

Some radio station had set up a table and speakers in the open area between the two bars: the music was ridiculously loud. The outdoor tables and umbrellas were crammed together so tightly that squeezing through was like a military obstacle course. The "indoor" area was completely indistinguishable from the "outdoor" area, as their 30' of folding accordion "doors" were left in the fully-open position, which allowed all of the cigarette smoke and noise/music to penetrate. Despite the place being about 15% full, our waitress took about 30 minutes to get to our table. The drinks took another 30 minutes to get to the table. My Chicken Parm sandwich was the absolute worst sandwich I've ever eaten in my life -- no exaggeration. The sandwich was lukewarm by the time it arrived, with stale bread and a limp, bland chicken (?) patty in about a half-teaspoon of burnt sauce. The only saving grace was that it was 50% off during happy hour. The house salsa that accompanied the free chips was of the too-spicy green vinegar variety (not even close to a legit salsa verde). Once we asked for our check, the space cadet waitress took another 30 minutes to return to the table -- we could even see her yapping at the bar with her co-workers. When she did return, she didn't have our check, so we asked her for it again, and she smiled and said "check?", as if it was the first time we asked. Nice try, honey. My advice? Don't go within 100 yards of this dump, unless you're already drunk, you have earplugs, a SARS mask, and about 4 hours to waste on happy hour margaritas.

Pros: Ummm... half-price food during happy hour?

Cons: Space cadet waitress, noise, secondhand smoke, sorry excuse for food.

.

I wouldn't wast my time on this dump of an "resturant"...the service continues to be horrible and the owners pays no attention except to his own beer pong match with little girls. I feel bad for the bar tenders who seem like all the duties are stuck on them. I also thought the food was sponggy.....no good!

Me and my girlfriend were shopping on Melrose today and came across Guapo this place has a cool set up with tons of tvs and 2 patios we smoke so we decided to sit up on the deck overlooking Melrose Ave. Our waitress was a pretty and sweet brunette. I had a margarita and some beers. My food was good however my girlfriend ordered a taco salad which appeared to have some sand in it so the waitress was very apolgetic and we ordered a quesidella which was good. The crowd was normal LA/Melrose. Overall I would and will come back. They were setting up something for a radio station and the waitress told us about cinco de mayo party and I will try my damnest to make it given I don't pass out from a drunken stupper before than.

this place is a back east dream! karaoke tuesdays, beer pong, and the best place to watch any sporting event. believe it or not, there are a lot of girls at this place. i think the nightclubs get boring, and apparently El Guapo is the best alternative. decent food and A+ atmosphere. their Juke Box rocks too!!

All I can say is THE HELL WITH DISNEYLAND! Head your lil booty on down to 7250 Melrose Avenue to El Guapo Mexican Cantina! Not only is it the only bar in Hollywood, famous celebs are there all day long! With David Spade and Nicole Richie walking about, and that manager actor who was on numerous tv shows, I don't know how the paparazzi doesn't just sit outside by that badass fountain that I had a pool party in last summer- make sure the lifeguard is on duty! They have this terrific little firecracker of a bartender named Alison and she is like hot chocoloate by a the fireplace on a stormy night. I also love their singing bartender Jackie- he is like playing scrabble with your family and have jiffy pop on Christmas Eve! What great food and drinky drinkies. My only suggestion is making a trapped door for Dell to fall through so I don't have to listen to his piercing cackle...Two thumbs up!!!!!

I recently stumbled upon El Gaupo trying to find a place to watch the final four( Go Kansas!!!!).
I was excited to see what a huge kansas following goes there. It was a busy night but the service was still really good, our food and drinks came out quickly, and the crowd was awesome. The two bartenders were great and made sure we always had what we needed. I will definetly be back :)

This has my spot for over 4 years now. By far, the BEST Sportsbar in Hollywood. Where else are you going to find 40 TV's! I have turned so many people on to EL GUAPO, TRUST ME! Come check it out, knock down some tacos and a Cheese Steak, and come play some PONG. They have EVERY SINGLE game you want AND LA's OFFICIAL HOME for UFC!

Ok.. I've lived here over 6 years now from the eastcoast. I love nice steakhouses, sushi joints, and sometimes the Hollywood scene, but really miss the old eastcoast comfortable places I can meet real/good friends for conversation and old laughs!!!!

Finally!!!! A friend told me about El Guapo. I'm in the advertising business, and a art director told me to go to the coolest, most casual place in LA. I trust her, so I went. OMG! We got there before sundown. It wasn't very busy, but we sat on the deck and talked for hours! Drinks were great and the bartender was so sweet! We actually called more of our friends to come down. It ended up being the most fun I've had out here since the MTV Awards 2003!!

The manager.. don't remember his name.. (bald, i think.. very cute) acutally bought us a round and made us feel like family!

Go! We are regulars now!

this place is one of a kind - it has the best & biggest outdoor patio i've ever seen in LA - margaritas are fantastic - if you're from back east you'll love this place - it has beer pong & a ton of hi def tv's - lots of different rooms so you go where is best for you i guess. smokers will love this place. the food is pretty good, the service seems ok too. last week they even tarp off the patio when it rains and they have toasty heat lamps so i was pretty comfortable even in the bad weather. summers must rock here. try the shrimp fiesta or the continental wrap.

Despite the glowing reviews this place has gotten, I've been stunned at truly how bad the service was. Generally I don't mind slow service when a place is slammed, but to be flat out ignored was a bit too much. The food itself wasn't bad, nor were the other patrons of the bar. The setup was decent enough. However, the waitresses ranged from lazy (didn't see mine for over half an hour, or was ignored when she walked to the bigger table) to flat out hostile (got sneered at for asking another waitress to find ours.)

Since these sort of things don't exist in a vacuum, I feel that the management is probably dictating this. If you are reading this, I recommend reassessing how your waitresses are treating customers. There are places that have better looking women that, gasp, actually treat the customer well. You're behind the curve here.

I had my girlfriends birthday day there last night (Friday, Aug 10th). Our group was about 15 at first and kept growing to probably close to 40. Our server was this very sweet girl named Naomi who was badass, she kept checking to make sure everyone was set- and gave my girlfriend a birthday shot too. (Even when the party kept growing she got those people too). I recommend the Green Iguana drink (or something like that) it was rather tasty -but all the drinks are good. Its a good place to party and we even met more people in the beer pong bar. Awesome time!
