YOU SHOULD CLOSE THE GEEK SQUAD ARM OF BEST BUY in Culver City

by cyprain u.

The geek squad arm of Best Buy is replete with incompetent people. The department is very poorly ran and should be cancelled immediately. The word geek is someone of an intellectual bent often disliked because of his or her smarts; or a very brilliant person who is the best at what he does. This department is an insult to the word geek because they do not know what they are doing. In fact they do not know anything about fixing computers. I sent my computer time and time agian, charged outrageously for it, got it back and still there were issues.
Here is the latest story:
I sent in my computer almost two weeks ago to this retarded department, I still have not got it back. Waited a week for someone to call me back regarding the status, no call came. I Called, and after being kept on hold for over 5 minutes, a manager( I believe his name is david) came to the phone and told me that It will be ready in two days, that was last Monday, it is still not ready, and yet no courrtesy phone call back to me. I again called yesterday, a guy by the name of chino answererd. After having me on hold for 2 minutes, he came back and said they are reparing it still and that they do not do miracles. What a stupid, unrully and unprofessional way to talk to your customer. Chino, I do not want you to do any miracles, reparing my PC that I already paid you for will do for me. This is a shame and a disappointment for a company that prides itself on best customer service. I am a business man myself and I will not talk to my customers, even the ones with the least spending power, the way this Chino guy spoke to me. My computer is still in your Geek Squad repair department. It is now day 12, no phone call from best buy and no word as to when my PC will be ready.
Best Buy, please consider this customer lost! Circuit city, here I come. I can tellyou now that If I do not get my PC back in the next day, You will replace it with a new unit.
My phone number is 323-251-0689 if anybody cares to resolve this matter.
Thanks,
Dissatisfied custormer,
Cyprain Ubabuko

Awful customer service

by Jack Y. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 4,006

Best buy is well known for their poor customer service, especially trying to return *anything*. The two managers that we dealt with returning a larger dollar item (defective) were the most rude, unproessional people i've ever come across. What a nightmare. I had to get ugly with them and finally got the return taken care of.

Best buy is going downhill in all areas and many more people are starting to realize what a poorly run chain they are. Stay away if at all possible.

PROS: None
CONS: Even the store manager is completely unwilling to do his job

Great electonics

by S N. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 7,814

I always go Best Buy to browse through their new things and can easily spend a good couple of hours there just looking around the new gadgets. I gave Best Buy my email address and they usually email me their specials every week which is helpful because if I see something I like on sale, I would be the first to know. The staff there are usually pretty helpful and the prices very reasonable.

Nice

by Antonia T. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 7,486

It always helps to look online first for deals and so forth before coming to a BEst Buy location. Make sure you look around through their ads before you buy something, because something is always fantastically on sale. 'Insiders' know how to coax BB into accepting competitor's prices and price match.

Best Buy Browsers Paradise

by Steven P. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,890

Best Buy in West Los Angeles is one of those great electronics and more shops where you can browse for hours. There is an ample selection of electronics, home audio and stereo equipment, prerecorded music, computers and computer related merchandise and much more. There is a very helpful sales staff. You are always greeted at the door and offered assistance. The assistance doesn't always have the exact answers to your questions as on a recent visit when it took three people to get my TiVo inquiry straight. But everyone is friendly and eager to place. Their DVD selection is very complete as well, especially regarding old television series. There is never any pressure to buy which makes it a pleasant experience.

If you want Customer Service, look elsewhere

by Tornado W. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 7,394

The store manager is unprofessional, has no respect for the customer and would rather lose a customer's loyalty and potential future business over providing any kind of customer servce.

I went with a friend to try and price-match an item there. The store manager, though it was within his discretion, would not price match the item. My friend called corporate customer service. Corporate customer service rep called the Best Buy store to see what was going on. Corporate customer service told my friend that the reason why the store manager would not price match was because the ad my friend brought in did not show a picture of the exact outside packaging of the item on sale. (But the ad did show exact model, brand, and picture of the item for sale). On top of that ridiculous rule, the store manager never stated such a rule to my friend. Store manager only said "No, I will not price match it."

My friend asked "so you are willing to lose my business and all of my friends' business that I tell not to shop

PROS: Not really a Pro, but maybe other Best Buys are better?
CONS: Terrible business practices. Unprofessional. No wonder they are losing business to the likes of Fry's Electronics and Circuit City.

I'm in favor of Best Buys. They have a reasonable selection of equipment and supplies. They are always having specials and discounts. You can walk away with tons of bargains. The staff is helpful and always eager to help you. The parking sucks though but all in all a great place to shop.

The prices and merchandise selection are great, however, the checkout is often slow, and customer service is not very well-trained or courteous. Another annoying feature of this store is that you have to have a key to access the restroom. By the time you get to the front of the store, and then back to the rear to use the restroom, it may be too late.

My refrigerator works great, and the price was $300. Not bad! I think this is the best place to shop for home appliances, but I cringe when I think about how long I have to wait to get help. Every time I come here, I have to hunt down a sales representative who typically looks overworked. You would think that Best Buy would just take a hint and hire more folks, but that's not the case.

I bought the hard drive at a very moderate price and they do have the best customer service. They have great deals on selected items throughout the store. They're very skilled technically regarding their products. It isn't a pain to find parking either. I wanted to buy an iron from here, but they didn't have any in stock so I tried to buy the iron off the display and they told me that they couldn't for some reason. I wonder why that is?

This is a great store, one in which I could spend hours in. It has a great selection of electronic items as well as movies, music and video games. I'm always impressed with the reasonable prices, sales and coupons and promotions. I have purchased somany items here and I keep coming back. Aside from the goods and the value, the staff are extremely friendly. It makes the shopping experience so much more enjoyable and I always get all my questions answered.

Great Customer service!

by Dizzy Bowman

I bought a modem there and threw out the box and just had the pieces and came back to return it for a different kind of modem (thanks, att, for being so explicit) and they took everything back, no questions asked and put it back on my card and i immediately had an email confirming so.

then when i went to pick up my tv, they made me wait 10 minutes and were so embarrassed they give me $10 off!

great customer service, would recommend to anyone.

Pros: really quick and if not, they will give you money back
